This is the absolute best Rohloff shifter and cable installation video. Tryed to do the install using Rohloffs video and was having trouble, but when I followed your instructions the cable install was easy pezzy. Thanks
Americano Rohloff with gates belt drive owner. I'm swapping out the original CDC type sprockets/belt to the CDX and the splined Rohloff connection. This came in handy. Thanks.
I believe there are some cable stop clamps available for retrofits, some folks opt for full length housing from shifter to the shift box and use zip-ties to secure them to the frame. Obviously not as clean as when it's integrated and purpose built.
hi there, im very new to Rohloff and belt drive set ups, just ordered a shifter from . now im looking for a crankset for my bike (santos Bike from netherlands) . witch one did you use on this bike? tks
Nice presentation. I am fairly new to mountain biking, but I read some very good comments about the Rohloff hub. I want to convert my Rocky Mountain Vertex10 to an ebike. Will I have to use a front hub motor or mid drive to work in conjunction with the Rohloff?
I use a Tongsheg mid drive with my Rohloff. It's good, but not a perfect set-up. The pros are the torque sensing assistance, so it assists when you're pedalling and stops almost immediately when you're not. The weight distribution isn't affected by the motor mount - although in my case I have the battery mounted on a rear pannier rack, which does mean I'm a bit tail and top heavy which isn't ideal. The cons are that the Rohloff gear cables are squeezed between the motor and the bottom bracket shell and the motor mounting is a bit poor - relying on compression from a threaded lock ring on the non-drive side. If I was to start from a blank slate, I'd get a bike with a Bosch mid-drive and fit the Rohloff to that. In my case, I have a sentimental attachment to my custom built frame so retro-fitting a mid-drive wasn't an option. I ruled out a front hub motor because I use a Son dynamo hub and fairly expensive dynamo powered lights that I didn't want to lose. Other than that, it might be a good option - but you don't get the option of torque sensing with modulated assistance, so the assistance is either modulated with a throttle or on/off with a magnetic wheel sensor which has a bit of lag. You may also need modified brake levers for the cut-out switch, which isn't really needed on a torque sensing mid drive motor. Most, if not all, of the retrofit e-bike kits end up being a bit of a bodge and each has their issues. The factory e-bikes with in-frame batteries and Bosch or Yamaha mid-drive motors are a lot closer to being perfect.
Hello... can you suggest troubleshooting a shifter that won't twist... I noticed that the barrels on the cable going into the rear had backed out so I twisted them back in. I also hand tighened the big silver bolt that holds the back end onto the rohloff hub. Now.. It shifts, (but with difficulty) and the shifter has a lot of play..

Good to know, thanks!
Rohloff video is easier to follow but I appreciate the extra information you provide

Magnifique...Thank you very much for this video
Thank you for this video! Some grease to the roll before putting on the gearbox?
You made it look easy. Do they make something for the cable stops if you don’t have for the push and pull to rest in

Hi Christian, most double ring mountain bike cranks with a 104 bcd and 4-bolt pattern work well the Rohloff chainline.
@@co-motioncycles7269 doble ring Because of the “chain line “ belt line?
@@cotiabutcher yes exactly.
Worth noting that the torx head screws on the external shifter box on my 2016 Co-Motion are T20 screws, not T25.
thanks !
Is there a list available with compatible gravel dropbars?

Great shifter, I wasn't expecting it to be solid aluminum. It's a little heavy, but you WILL NOT break this thing lol
I think it would help the average newbie to label push and pull cables with tape.
No such thing as a push cable.
Nice shifter. I can’t seem to find it on-line for purchase. Is there a model number?

Hi Rob, if you're still having issues please give us a call. The barrel adjusters going into the shift box will eliminate the extra cable slack.
Push and pull and low gear are so vague. Your video in really confusing, do you do it on purpose?
Requires much muh skill in comparison with other geared bicycles.
Theres always one idiot that still doesnt get it.
