    Alright so if you're familiar at all with Qube then you probably know that their entire platform is built around the idea of a digital version of the envelope budgeting method. So yes…Qube is very similar to other options we've looked at like Envel, One Finance, and Douugh however there is one very important difference and that is that every other digital envelope platform that we've looked at tracks your spending and budget AFTER a purchase which honestly defeats the whole point of the envelope system in the first place. Remember the original envelope system where you would literally put cash in an envelope was extremely effective because when you're monthly restaurant envelope ran out of money for example suddenly you stopped going out to eat because you literally had no more money to spend in that category.
    With this platform, you're going to have two financial tools that work in conjunction to keep you on track which is going to be the Qube app that is on your smartphone and your cube money card which is essentially your debit card. Now at first glance, this looks identical to the dozens of other platforms we have looked at but this platform is much more heavily focused on the budgeting side of things which is actually really good if you ask me. So for starters when you first open up your account you will connect an external bank account so that you can move funds into your Qube money account and from there you can start creating your various cubes which are essentially your budgeting categories or envelopes if you want to think of it as the envelope system but this is where things start to get really unique. Instead of categorizing your expense after the transaction is made, you have to first physically go into the app, select the cube that you want to pull your transaction from, and the best part, if there aren't enough funds available in that cube for the transaction that you want to make then you either admit to yourself that that's probably not a wise purchase to make or you actually have to transfer the funds from somewhere else in your budget which in most cases will probably stop you from making that unnecessary purchase.
    The features that you're going to get are really going to depend on which tier of this platform you decide to go with. Now the good news is that the basic version of this platform is going to give you pretty much everything you need to get started and it's completely free. With the basic tier, you can create up to 10 different cubes and other standard features such as peer to peer transfers, a bills cube, and the ability to get paid up to two days early. The premium plan is $8.00 per month and gives you an unlimited number of cubes in case your budget is a little more complex, you can also create cube groups meaning you can now share your different budgeting categories with multiple people, they're going to automate your budget, plus they are currently working on adding a ton of awesome features such as rounded technology that we've seen for many competitors, individual cube notetaking, and a ton of other great features.

    I didn't know anything about simple or it closing or the fact that there are these new fintech platforms allowing a digital version of the envelope system. I was sitting today spending hours trying to organize my family's money and budget with a spreadsheet and I got pissed and was like "why tha fuq is there not a bank that does this shite for you?!". Started looking around and found your channel and started googling and reading articles and watching other videos on all these options, and I have to say your format and the info you provide is the most in depth and helpful of all the other outlets. Your vibe is a bit too chipper for my taste, I prefer exasperated and grumpy individuals. But never the less, your channel is the most comprehensive. You will have success if you keep up this quality of content! Keep it up!

    So just to be clear "Qube" would be my new bank, like my wife and I would have to shut down our physical bank account and bank at Qube?
    If they do allow us to just connect our current (traditional) bank what are the pros and cons of doing that vs just banking 100% with Qube? Also, how accessible are there customer service reps? I know for sure I don't just want to hop in a "Chat" to get help with my banking I want to speak with someone over the phone lol. Sorry for all the questions but any answers would be helpful

    Which of these banking apps will support the following; Lance, Found, CreditSesame (or) CreditKarma? A lot of banking apps actually use Plaid, but still won’t provide third party access through the Plaid platform, and it’s super annoying to say the least. Would you have any idea which app accepts both banking, and debit cards from any bank? Please advise. Thx! 🙂 I love your videos, they are extremely informative!

    It’s been so long since you’ve reviews banks with automated buckets for spending and paying bills. Now everything is focused on savings. Can we circle back to those accounts? Are there any updates or new accounts we can look at?

  • @mariz_mariz
    @mariz_mariz ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The best way to spend responsibly is to use cash. Cash is tangible and visible, your card isn't. When you have cash on hand, you can better gauge financial decisions, because once the cash is gone....it's gone and you see it physically leave your wallet. Qube just gives people more incentive to borrow money from other savings because they really want something rather than having a yes or no based on the cash on hand. It's counter productive and won't stop impulsive spending.

    What about banks like simple that allow joint accounts? Like sharing ‘cubes’ or envelopes and categories are great but they doesn’t make it if one spouse does all the budgeting and paying bills. Is there a bank- like simple- that will allow me to have a joint account with my husband? Does anyone know? This might be a bit much but I am kinda worrying over here. I have spent years figuring out how bills worked for my family and now it’s all going away.

    • @MagnifiedMoney
      @MagnifiedMoney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the great question! I don't believe any of these have joint options like Simple but I am sure they will add this in the future. Does anyone else know of options with joint accounts currently?

    • @valeriearanda3349
      @valeriearanda3349 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Qube is releasing companion cards at the end of this month which is essentially a joint account. You’ll have shared Qubes to use and individual ones if that works for your family. It’s a pretty neat feature since each partner will be able to see when the other is spending and the money comes from the same Qube (envelope) to stay on budget. I’m a current Qube user and looking forward to the Family features later this year which include Kid cards and chore/allowance trackers.

    What happens when you need to make a purchase with a Qube and do not have access to your phone or the cell phone network is down? This is a deal breaker for me. One Finance has no cost and allows better budgeting option with no restriction of the pocket to be used at any time.

    • @messii5oh506
      @messii5oh506 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      qubes are set closed in 30 mins by default after opening to prevent fraud but you can leave a specific qube open for however long you want/need. On the weekends i usually leave one for 1 day that way i wouldn’t have to worry about losing signal or battery dies, you could leave it open forever if you want. Also the subscription is not bad considering other financial services like YNAB or Truebill already charge monthly fees.

    • @icon183

      The big difference is that Envel is still post purchase tracking, as I understand it. You can click a category, spend, and it will deduct from that category, but if you just swipe your card you then have to categorize which many people forget to do until they've all piled up. YNAB even has a "start over" feature because this issue is so common and why so many people hate budgeting. With Qube it's easy - Tap, swipe, done!
