    Varo currently has a credit builder card called Varo Believe. The Chime card system also has upgraded their credit builder to a actual metal card which has some added features as well.

    • @Shadow_Ridge_Timbers
      @Shadow_Ridge_Timbers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Ike P did you load funds onto it before you went to use it? I know that seems like a dumb question but some people have mistaken the credit builder card for a traditional credit card that has a set amount of funds on it when in reality it's like one of those credit cards that you put money on as a coverage for it. Each purchase you make with the credit builder is reported to the credit bureau as though they were separate credit purchases with a coverage-based payment taken from the funds that you deposited on the credit builder card

    FYI, Varo says they have a 2.8 interest on their savings if you have a direct deposit of $1k a month with I believe 5 or more checking swipes. The problem with this is it resets every month, so if you get paid right before the first, you get .4 until your next paycheck. I called to see if they could do anything to change that and they said I am SOL.

    Varo is the future. It’s so easy to get 2.8% on savings. And the round up feature on top of Save your pay gets you so much more money just keeping money in the bank.

    • @MagnifiedMoney
      @MagnifiedMoney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      2.8% is unmatched currently and as you mentioned, it’s pretty easy to qualify for this higher interest. I really do think Varo has the most potential to grow in the future Especially with their national Bank charter. Thanks so much for the comment!

    Varo is now up to 5% interest on savings as long as your savings balance is under $5,000. There are a few other conditions but nothing difficult. You have to have a balance of $0.01 or greater each day during the month, and there is something else I can not think of off the top of my head.

    I have Chime currently and it's been good to me for the 1 year I've been with them. I used Varo Bank for a month or 2 and the only reason I switched to them is because of how quickly the money would hit the account I had at the time. After I had trouble with the "syncing account" issues, I was done after that and went back to Chime.

    I never had any problems with Chime, and I've been with them for 3 years. The only problem is their customer service in regards to giving my refunds back to me if I buy something online and send it back. I've been going through hell with Chime with all required documents emails to show proof of the returns. And the bad thing is this happened more than once. I'm on the search now for another bank bc I can no longer fight with a banking institution that decides to keep my money after I returned my purchase.

    I'm considering using Chime's credit builder to pay credit related bills.
    Loans, cc's, mortgage...
    My credit score is already in the 'good' range, but I'd like to increase it even more while paying on my credit related bills at the same time.
    If I were to use your link (when I'm ready to open a Chime account), will it let me only set-up what I want to use (credit builder)?

    • @MagnifiedMoney
      @MagnifiedMoney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That sounds like a great game plan. I believe my link is for a chime spend account but in order to open the credit builder, I believe you do have to have a Chime spend account anyways but don’t quote me on that haha. But considering you move money from your chime spend account into the chain builder account, I’m assuming that this is the case. Whether you are able to use the link or not, this is definitely a great game plan, thanks so much for sharing!

    • @BrianJoslyn
      @BrianJoslyn 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      OH, yeah...
      I just looked again and you are correct. It does instruct on the 'credit builder' page of Chime's website to add money from 'spending account.'
      I do also use MyPoints and InboxDollars for saving money and last I checked they both offer credit when setting-up a Chime account. (hmmm) If neither of these offers are valid when I'm ready to set-up a Chime account then I'll use your link. I'll save it in my browser favorites now.

    You forgot to mention one of the most important things about the credit builder card.

      @@allygaretzka2323 That’s what I’m going to do. Since my direct deposits go to Bank of America. In order to use the Chime Credit Builder I’m going to have a percentage directed to my Chime checking. I’m not sure if it’s all jobs but usually when you fill out the direct deposit with your employer. The paperwork would ask if there’s a percentage or certain amount you want deposited in a 2nd account. I use to have a percentage go into my savings so I wouldn’t have to do it myself. Your HR dept or payroll can tell you if it’s an option.
      To my understanding as far as the $200 direct deposit amount. It’s for the sake of showing that the Chime checking have been used for direct deposits. I had mine for a while and use to use it as my main account. So it didn’t ask for a deposit since I deposited way over $200 since I had it. However, the Chime Credit Builder is based on whatever amount you choose as your credit limit. I hope that helps.

    I was looking at the Varo site and it looks like that you still need to stay below $10k to hit the 2.8% interest. The text is just really small and at the bottom of the website on the savings account info page. I hope I read it wrong lol.
    Appreciate the vid tho! I’ve been on the fence with these 2 banks for awhile.

    The only thing I don't like about chime, and this wasn't included in the video, is that you can not hide or delete a transaction in your transaction history. So if you have a spouse who like to keep an eye on the money. You can't hide any gift purchases. Other than that, Chime is great to bank with. Also when I had set up direct deposit with Chime, I received $100 for doing so. I don't know if that's because I met some other criteria but that us what I received. Thanks for the video

      current does not honor its advertising.
      They say they reward you for every deposit if you get the premium account, but I have heard hundreds of people who used to use current say that they had the premium account and never got their Payday 2 days early and the booster points that currently says they offer you when you make deposits these people never got.
      I have the current card in my wallet I only use varo but transferred $2 to current and I verified that you do not get any booster points whether you have the premium account or a regular savings and checking. stay away from current
