Direct deposit is what kills the cash stuffing for me. I work from home and mostly shop online so making it a 30-45 trip every week to the bank just to put some back in when i need it is just going to make it fail very quickly for me So glad people are coming up with digital options!!
Makes total sense to go digital but i like having tangible money to see my progress. I don't use cash envelopes for groceries, bills and petrol etc i only have ones for emergencies, car excess, travel, savings and house maintenance. For me I find having money in my card is easier to spend. But yeah definitely something to think about. 👍🏼
I use cash envelopes but i dont put as much effort into it as mentioned in this video 😅 I only use it for my spending categories (groceries, misc and eating out) But I only make one trip to the bank and I withdrawal it all at once, the whole months worth. But I dont keep it all in my wallet, I put in my wallet as the week ends and it's the next week approaching if you know what I mean - the rest I keep at home
I love to see my money, physically, and see it growing... I also have sinking funds for christmas, birthdays, car etc and I have a goal.. once that goal is met I will either use the money for its purpose or if it's for a bigger goal, for every 1000$ I save towards it I will deposit it into a different account and use a 1K slip in place of that $1000 and just keep saving.. It's just much more satisfying and motivating to be able to have cash and save it (plus I never spend cash unless it's my weekly budgeted categories haha)
If I leave it all in my chequings, or savings, or TFSA.. it will get spent lmao. My emergency fund is in cash and wasnt touched once, even when I was in a pinch
I might look into to evelopes for just a few categories, I def love having high yield savings and money in the account for reoccurring bills and big purchases
Omgosh I agree so much. I need the physical cash to see vs having it in my account where I will see online and want to use. Also just like you said I'm new to this but I only plan to go to the bank once a month. Only doing cash outside of the savings challenges but a few categories like beauty, groceries and maybe eating out that isn't designated to a gift food card.
@@nikkiperdiz7058I agree except I think for me when I save enough and it isn't to pay off debt or some other bill it will go straight to my credit union in an account I can't touch like a certificate/CD or MMS account.
I don’t like cash envelopes for all the reasons you stated. Whenever I have cash I feel like it’s not real money and I spend it on silly stuff. We use credit cards exclusively (paid off in full every month)
For me it's the opposite. With cash I know it's real and I see in my hand or don't see it anymore when it's gone. I don't want it gone, so I try to spend less. With a card, I swipe believing there is an infinite amount left..
I got one of these! The problem I am having is with impulse control. I always end over spending from one cube then pulling money from a different Qube completely throwing off my budget. I’m hoping cash will help curb the impulse spending, then I can try this again later.
This is awesome! I use cash envelopes and I love them, but I have always thought that I would rather do something like this if there was an electronic version of cash envelopes!
but YNAB is reactive and this is proactive approach just like cash envelopes. Qube is the solution. I used YNAB and it's nice if you stick to it but it's time-consuming and it's not very rigid like Qube
This is great I am not a fan of the envelipe system but I understand that some people really need that type of dicipline before they can move on in their financial journey.
I got robbed 3 different times and never saw that cash again.( stolen when my back was turned). as opposed to a debit card if someone steals from your checking account the bank will give it back to you, and you say it wasn't authorized by you. some one used my account for $98 with out my authorization. I got that money back, from my bank.
You're so right. Cash just doesn't work in today's age. We used to use mostly cash, but it got progressively harder each year. I have a few coaching clients that still use cash, but most people are finding really unique ways to navigate their spending/budgeting in a digital world. Thanks for bringing some new ideas to the table!
Wow Love this idea! its what i was looking for. Yeah the cash system is simply way to inefficient. The only thing good about it is being able visually quantify how much you have left (similar to analog vs digital watches in estimating time) But im sure you can set up an app to have a visual representation also. There's just simply no advantage to using cash at that point.
We don't use cash either, we have more coins than notes in New Zealand so it makes managing the money is more difficult. Our bank allows unlimited accounts which I move as required into our debit card account.
This fits my lifestyle more cause I'm a card collector (debit) so having different accounts us better but I also like to have cash on hand but not large amounts.
I'm agree that there are certain things that is better keep in the bank and manage in a digital way also if the type of account gives you some kind of yield, theres a few things that I use cash envelops but is more to pay certian kind of deliverings .... sorry for my bad english ... greetings from Mexico
And a lot of places near me demand exact change or no cash at all. I’ve seen them turn people away who tried to use cash Edit: oh she just said that lol
HI there! I really interested in this but is this only something that you can do right now? I am wondering if your husband is able to use this method to? I think this would be a great option but my husband does spending as well and I am wondering how I would handle his stuff if there is only one card? Any tips? I saw they have a couple option coming soon, just curious if there is a way you're handling this in the meantime, kinda want to start this ASAP lol
U get different options. There's a couples package and even a family package (which includes for teenage kids etc). The packages start at $8 and go upto I think $25 depending on a household's specific needs. I just started with the Basic package to see if I like it. It's limited as far as what u get, but it's free and a great way to test things out.
I would need 30+ buckets for all my spending and sinking funds. Not sure that this digital system could support that need. Plus it takes days for money to move between institutions and updating the cube after money spent. Also not full integrated with other banking institutions. It’s not as smooth as they would like you to believe.
Hi, Maryssa. I like your page and your posts. I am Ghanaian and I want to learn budgeting from you. This is a topic of interest to me. I am currently working on starting my own personal Finance blog 🤗 I need all the help and knowledge I can get
That not true I better do cash lol why said at vídeo cash envelope help more because you have be paid at. Bank to have you money it help part you do take money at. Back you have at hand not paid at back you be saving if you at budge saving video they talk they said money at back paid to you money
We tried to do it digitally but we still need to use cash for now until we are more disciplined.
Exactly same here

I absolutely would love a digital envelope system.. but the way my impulse spending is set up…🥴🥴I’m working on it!
Have you ever looked at YNAB or thought about doing a video on it? I would be interested to know your thoughts.
Love YNAB! ☺️
YNAB is life changing!!!
I third this emotion - love YNAB 🤩
but YNAB is reactive and this is proactive approach just like cash envelopes. Qube is the solution. I used YNAB and it's nice if you stick to it but it's time-consuming and it's not very rigid like Qube
Oh ynab, I have a bunch of friends that use it. Great video idea!
Love this and will do. I think one of the only reasons people like the physical ones are because of the custom designs.
Yup. Its the aesthetics of it...
This is great I am not a fan of the envelipe system but I understand that some people really need that type of dicipline before they can move on in their financial journey.
I’ve considered getting a prepaid card for Costco and Safeway that way I can add $ to a card and still
Do curbside pickup-- still deciding
What system did you use before this app?
I got robbed 3 different times and never saw that cash again.( stolen when my back was turned). as opposed to a debit card if someone steals from your checking account the bank will give it back to you, and you say it wasn't authorized by you. some one used my account for $98 with out my authorization. Wow this is a game changer. Thanks for sharing! Definitely using this

there was a period of time during covid that some retailers wouldn't accept cash.
Our local Walmart isn’t taking cash in the store due to $ shortage they say
Couldn’t you just also put the $ on a prepaid card and use that ?
That’s a great idea for people that need the envelope system. Or even a gift card for yourself is fine.
I disagree with you. I love cash envelopes. I also do digital too. So I have the best of both worlds.
Normally, I don’t love the idea of debit cards, but this sounds pretty cool!
It's awesome!
We don't use cash either, we have more coins than notes in New Zealand so it makes managing the money is more difficult. Our bank allows unlimited accounts which I move as required into our debit card account.
Never will do cash envelopes! Even when we were following Dave Ramsey's system pretty closely we didn't. Agree with your reasons.
This fits my lifestyle more cause I'm a card collector (debit) so having different accounts us better but I also like to have cash on hand but not large amounts.
This is so cool. Why isnt anyone talking bout it
I am trying to get in budgeting but do not want to do the cash
Interesting to see other people's style of budgeting!
I'm agree that there are certain things that is better keep in the bank and manage in a digital way also if the type of account gives you some kind of yield, theres a few things that I use cash envelops but is more to pay certian kind of deliverings .... sorry for my bad english ... greetings from Mexico
I don’t get cash envelopes either. Especially during a pandemic! I’m not touching any cash 🤢
Yes! Definitely another reason not to carry it around these days!
And a lot of places near me demand exact change or no cash at all. I’ve seen them turn people away who tried to use cash
Edit: oh she just said that lol
Lol ppl touch door, bathroom, pick up stuff at the store all germs
I like this option
We used to use Simple, but since they are closing - we switched to Qube! Budgeting banks are life changing!
Love it!! It makes budgeting and spending so simple.
I use cash for gas to pay the lower rate lol
So this is an app advertisement, and it isn't even available in my country.
I'm not a fan of debit cards. Is there an app to do the same but money is taken from a credit card?
Hope point of sale never goes down like in Canada where they could only accept cash.

Do you still use Qube? If not, any particular reason?
Interesting
My bank lets me make as many categories through our bank as I want .
How does it work for biweekly paychecks
I already figured this was a sponsored video even before u said
This is so interesting.
I don’t do cash envelopes either. I do think it is old school as well. Lol.
This is great. Thanks for sharing.

Plus i hate coins! :)

That's awesome! I wish you well on starting your blog! Very exciting.
It's definitely a scam...I was denied and given no explanation after serval emails. Better business bureau had relevant complaints too
You look like milli bobby brown 😮
No one keeps that cash on their person! Also it’s about seeing the impact of saving and spending.
Thats why so much yong people are in debt
Omgg Shutup !!! Seriously downloading right now !
❤❤
Just signed up but they haven’t released Qube money for couples yet. Hopefully soon!
Awesome!! Yes! It will be a wonderful added feature! 🙌🏼
Sad to see some young people CLUELESS to what is actually going on. Alarming as well.
👋🏻 👍🙏🏻🤩
