This is perfect to take on the road in my van while camping and doing wildlife photography and for jamming on the couch. I make quick grooves all the time as my main practice method and being able to beam those jams into Live on my laptop gives them a much better chance of ever seeing the light of day. My Op-1 has been a favorite for this job but I'm excited about writing drum parts on the Move!
2:43:00 yes it has ONE choke group. I believe turned on or off per pad with second page of knob parameters. Also you can load a template drum kit with this set up on each pad already for you.
I picked one up to make music during playtime with my young kids. The built-in mic, speaker, and battery make it useful with zero cables, which is fantastic. My current setup of an MPK Mini+, BlipBlox SK2, TR-6S, Boss VE-22 with a 57, and Centrance Bouncer running into a Vifa Oslo is fun but quite a few cables, which makes it tempting to swap in less “fun for kids to mess with” synths like Virus Snow / Toraiz AS-1 etc. Seems fun to be able to chop samples, which the SP-404 can also do well if I want to put that on the play case, but it’s a little more involved and feels a bit too serious. Hopefully they improve the chopping so you don’t just have to press the buttons in time without a chance to edit after capture.
Loved this overview! As someone who is definitely not going to get one, since I'm happy with my current hardware and don't use Abelton. I love the idea and execution of this device! Having a quick sketchpad to jut out an idea, rhythm melody, bass etc. That quickly and seamlessly integrates with your DAW both in terms of getting the sounds from the deivce to the daw, but also function as a controller to keep working, sequencing and playing I think Its an incredible idea. Not having clock sync is very annyoing, and hopefully something that can be added both through the midi and usb. But I think its weird that people expect this to do everything. Its completely fine, and even preferable to have devices that fills niches and does some things well. Instead of having a bunch of devices that try to do too many things at once, and not really being great at anything.
Best overview/review/opinions/insights to this device i saw till now .. and i saw them a lot already :) .. Mad respect, you are doing GREAT job ! Your channel is huge source of valuable informations
There's a hidden limiter protecting the speaker. Apparently you can crank up the gain on the Dynamics or Saturator preset on main track; there's supposedly a fair bit of headroom. Not going to turn them into MPC Live 2 speakers but might help.
At first it seemed to me not really a must BUT in fact it has a great potential for ableton users wanting to focus on track song creation in a straightforward and fun way, we all know when we have many plugins and possibilities we lose the focus ! Can you set (per step) and send out MIDI CC and other MIDI messages on the out port? And, more importantly, can you route the external synth to the audio in and then through the selected MIDI track internal fx and back out to the master... or is the audio input only for sampling? The Novation boxes allow for audio routing this way.

Most professional musicians with a studio full of gear and an established workflow struggle to do this in 10 minutes on the FACT against the clock videos.
I had an MPC and couldn't gel with the workflow or the size. I have an iPad and have never enjoyed touch screen pointing and clicking as a creative practice. Luckily there are machines and workflows for everyone and what is good for me may not work for others, and the other way around. Thanks for watching!
For how I work, this gives you four tracks. Ableton Note is a poor mobile app compared to Cubasis, Logic Pro, FL Studio and others. A hardware Ableton Note is not something the world needed. A lot of people are about workflow, not just you. The difference is what workflow best serves their musical genre, how their minds work, and their priorities. They can be just as workflow centered as you and distain the hardware you value. I love the MPC workflow and dislike Elektron stuff as far as value, capabilities, and workflow. It doesn’t make it bad, just not for me. Conceptually, a great idea. Conceptually, the Yamaha Seqtrak was a good idea too. At the price point, there are better options for me. Ableton hardware seems nice but too expensive for what you get. On the go, just give me an iPad or Android tablet and Cubasis and I’m set. I can multi-timbral record it into any DAW or an MPC afterwards off the tablet.
100% agree with you as I said numerous times. This works for me and other things work for other people. Great time to be alive when there is a workflow for everyone without having to make it a competition. Thanks for warching
Disagree. It’s a great price for what it does and its intended use. Now that intended use isn’t a fit for everyone. I’ve been looking for a musical scratch pad (right now it’s my phone) but all the other options are either too big, or too much of a pain to use.

Good for beginners though the price is not beginner friendly.
That’s one way to see it for sure.
is it possible to make a song in say 2 minutes that doesn't sound like a loop, that doesn't play the same thing over and over?
Most professional musicians with a studio full of gear and an established workflow struggle to do this in 10 minutes on the FACT against the clock videos.
Anything is possible depending on the user. ;)
add 200 and buy mpc :D
Had one and sold it. Not my workflow but great for some. :)
Bullshit not when they sell you something too soon and they promise revision for products shortcomings
As stated in the video… fixing problems and bugs is one thing, being entitled to improvements and upgrades is another
Gotta pass on this little toy for now. My iPad can do 100000x more.
Yeah my laptop with Ableton live 12.1 Suite can do way more as well... Still really loving this thing. Thanks for watching!
Parece mentira que ableton tarde tantos años en sacar un nuevo hardware y acaben sacando porquerías como esta a ese precio....👎
Clock out via midi is working please stop the misinformation!
😂 Buy an iPad or MPC.
I had an MPC and couldn't gel with the workflow or the size. I have an iPad and have never enjoyed touch screen pointing and clicking as a creative practice. Luckily there are machines and workflows for everyone and what is good for me may not work for others, and the other way around. Thanks for watching!
Not good
I’m really enjoying it
For how I work, this gives you four tracks.
It's way too expensive for what it does in my opinion. When it's half price, it might pique my interest.
Not for everyone for sure. I think it is a great deal for how it works. Value is in the eye of the user for sure. :)
If you compare the capabilities with its competition, the price is very good.
Disagree. It’s a great price for what it does and its intended use. Now that intended use isn’t a fit for everyone.
I’ve been looking for a musical scratch pad (right now it’s my phone) but all the other options are either too big, or too much of a pain to use.
That's basically a more limited version of Ableton note, but in a hardware device. To me seems like a pointless device
I’d agree if ‘output’ is the goal. With the hardware version is a pleasure to use (unlike the app). Very happy with it myself
