- Here area few knives from the now discontinued Schrade Frontier Series of knives, all made with 1095 Steel, 90 degree spines and full tang construction. During their intial release each of these knives sold for around $35-40. In 2024 you can still find these knives (SCHF36 , SCHF37, SCHF51, SCHF52 and SCHF56)
on ebay for under $50

I bought my Ontario sp51 in 5160 steel around the time these came out . I still use it and have beat the heck out of it . Big knives was the thing back then .
They make a 8Cr13MoV High Carbon too, its just more expensive but is supposed to be stronger
@@jasongrooms8200 which one is more expensive and supposedly stronger? 8Cr13MoV is a High Carbon Stainless Steel as far as I know similar to Stainless Steels like 440A and 440C. 1095 is a Carbon Steel similar to those used by ESEE, Tops and Kabar.
I've never had any issues or problems with the tip of it, play the drove it into all kinds of different hardwood and smacked the side of the handle with a branch and the tip is still perfect I've even done the nail test were you smack the back of the spine with a hammer to cut a nail in half and not a single mark on the edge. Im a little disappointed in this review but i do enjoy your videos
@@jasongrooms8200 Glad to hear yours have no issues. That’s amazing to hear considering you cut through a nail with no issues. I actually have a chip on my SCHF37 shown in this video will have to show a close up. I was batoning on the ground and hit a couple of pebbles. Was able to sharpen her back up to a working edge but you can still see it when you look at the edge. Anyway thanks for watching. Which version do you have by the way the 1095 or the 8cr13mov version?
@kaisermojica4216 I have the 1095 version but when I first got it I took the powder coating off the blade and re heat treated it. It's a beast of a knife and I love the hollow gring
@ I wish Schrade would rerelease these in 2025 since technically the official release was I believe in 2015 they should do a 10 year Anniversary and have both Kydex and Leather Sheaths as options I would not mind paying a little extra for Kydex I think they could still sell these knives for as low as $60-$80 which is still $70-90 less than it’s competition in the Kabar, Esee and Tops brands.
