There was nothing wrong with that hawk, it was beautiful but you did said you are new to axes, experienced axe users would’ve never complained about something like that on the opposite it’s what makes it unique!

I have the large camp hawk and the goshawk. Since they are hand forged I don’t expect perfection, but having one side of the eye be overly thin compared to the other would bother me. Both hawks that I own don’t have that issue. I’d inquire if it were my tomahawk.

@@aprilnichols2806I have heard this from many reviewers, in the case of the one I received and shown on on this video I pointed out that it has what I consider is a flaw. The reason I posted this video is to gain perspective from H&B axe or tomahawk owners. It seemed very thin on one side of the head and there is this dead space in the eye. Is this to be expected with H&B Forge Tomahawks or is this one a lemon? It also does not have the H&B Stamp on the cheek. I would like to know your thoughts on that aspect. I appreciate your comment regarding the differences in Cold Steel and H & B brands. With my particular Tomahawk is this what I should expect when it costs 3 times the price of the Cold Steel? You say it’s 1/1000th of the quality, that is certainly not the tomahawk I received. You gave the analogy of A chevy vs a lamborghini, what if you received a lamborgini which had flaws coming from the dealership, would you keep it just because of the brand or would you not expect the company to deliver on what you paid for. I don’t understand why the knife, axe and gear community does not allow for criticism on their favorite brands? In my case I received my lambo and it’s missing features I paid for the very features you and many other H&B Forge owners love, I do not think I received the same quality and finish you have in your hawks in this particular tomahawk. For transparency I was planning to keep the hawk and give it a fair shake but after seeing it was not even stamped with the H&B Forge Logo I returned it. @@kaisermojica4216 you’re expecting way too much for blacksmith forged $150 tomahawk. This as a blacksmith myself. Your cold steel tomahawk is $25 for a reason. They are dropped forged which means they won’t hold an edge. Because they don’t align the grains. In a plant in China for $.25 each. Versus yourH&B forge that has a 1095 bit forge welded into a 1055 head. If you don’t like it, return it. And you can have something else produced by a communist country. For pennies on the dollar. Versus something that one person forged by hand. There’s a premium attached to that. If you want a blacksmith forged Tomahawk. That’s going to be perfection. You need to get ahold of Mark Mccoun but you’re going to pay between 500 +

@@kaisermojica4216 goshawk is a good one. I own several from H&B Forge. As well as Mark as well as two hawks. I’m a little bit of an axe junkie.

@@aprilnichols2806 I have 2 higher priced items on my wish list this year one is the 2hawks woodman, and one is a RMJ Tactical Tomahawk (leaning towards a Shrike or Jenny Wren). I am trying to recondition my brain and will be do my best to stop buying cheaper gear, I spend too much money on junk. I and plan to purchase less stuff this year but much higher quality and will do my best to buy USA Made products. 🤞🏼Wish me luck as it is a struggle to not click “buy it now” on $20 or less items on ebay and amazon 😅

@kaisermojica4216 aren't they though? I just got off of Ebay and there are a few "fire axes" that are extremely similar and likely a bit cheaper lol. I love axes and not sure why I haven't gotten one or two of these yet.

@@Dmac6969 they have certainly gone up in price and I see that the US Manufacturers have changed. The ones I have are still in good condition. Both Level I and Level II I believe are no longer made with Polartec Power Dry and Power Grid Materials as the older ones were made of. If you don’t mind purchasing used I believe the best bang for your buck in terms of performance while still maintaining decent durability is the Patagonia Capilene 4 (thermal weight) has lifetime warranty and The North Face Storm shadow grid fleece both were made of Polartec Power Grid Fleece and I purchased a couple used at around $35-40 in good condition

@kaisermojica4216 that's interesting. I wonder why the went away for the polartec? I just got my set of level 1 and 2, so looking forward to testing them in northern Alberta winter weather here. But my initial observation was fairly poor stitch work and feeling of low quality. Could be just the manufacturer that I received. Peckham. Maybe truspec or someone else would be better

@ I believe mine are from Peckham new ones are licensed through Tactical retailers such ADS and not clear on where they are manufactured. Some look about the same but are Rothco brand and made in China. I also recently heard that even things with the Brand USMC are no longer necessarily made in US on their knives and other tools. These days first thing I look at is the return policy. Will do a video on some of my lucky buys on ebay for baselayers soon.

@@kaisermojica4216 I picked up one of those cheap foam insulated stadium seat cushions for a buck and a half. Kinda like the folding camping sleeping pad. Cut to fit, duct taped a couple layers together and put inside the bottom of the pack. I've also turned another pack inside out so I could hand stitch some solid denim in place. And now I'[m thinking I should sew this in place with denim. Sure, it adds an ounce or two, but I'm more of a low speed high drag kinda guy.

@ which type of pack or brand and model of pack did you choose? I am trying to picture it in my head. Would like to know more on the specifics choices, size of backpack in Liters? Total weight? I am struggling to picture it in my head on why you would need to reinforce it as most backpacks I’ve used for outdoors are pretty rugged and durable and seldom have any durability issues for several years of use.

@@kaisermojica4216 are you constantly DAILY rucking, throwing it on and off multiple times, placing it on bench, chair, table or ground to get something out to water a dog? I;m talking 3 to 5 steel water bottles of abuse on 600D polyester with the water resistant coating on the inside. That's how I treat a pack. I've had packs in the 25-30 liter range with reasonable features, chest straps, waist straps, zippers that didn't wear out, snaps that held up for years, well made molle straps for adding attachments.

I'm up in the middle of the night having somehow slept wrong on my shoulder.

@@CanadaFree-ce9jn I was just showing tools I was looking into, do you have any recommendations on things you brought up? I would love to learn more about the very topics you raised. I did include one of those rescue/survival axes which does have a pry bar. I have a video on some prybars but will not be going in depth into that topic. For the record talking about the tools you mentioned is a touchy subject in NYC. Some states have weird laws about that and I will not be discussing breaching tools or lock picks much on my channel. Some dumpsters may be chained and locked, got lockpicks (if "legal") to open it for the resources inside? Do you even have a list of dumpsters where the stores may throw out good clothes not sold? Silcock key for building water if it is after hours? Got an old "soiled" tarp or painters tarp to toss over found stuff in a building to look like a pile of junk in a corner to hide under if sleeping inside? A hikers MSR Pocket Rocket or BRS stove to cook within city limits? Alcohol stoves have less BTUs but make no sound, Extra poo bags so you don't shit where you eat? A list of homeless resources in the city? Soup kitchens and the like?

@@kaisermojica4216 Look more at bypass methods that don't look like known tools. Also don't attract police, move on as soon as you are told without question. Look greyman as you suggested. Even a larger pack can make you look homeless. Hide tools well and be ready to ditch them fast. I think you would also get in trouble if searched and found with a 7" knife and tactical tomahawk.

I am not the first person to post about these Benchmade Clones from China which are sold on Aliexpress. There multiple sellers on Ebay trying to pass them off and selling them at the price of the real one. Benchmade should certainly get on those guys.

paulrevere, the point is that its a clone and he is just showing what the clone can do in this stress test. Im suprised it did not break. China making quality clones. They even have the Socp Dagger clone for about 18$ compared to Original Socp dagger of $130

@@Boomshaka I don’t have any problem with the clone knife, it perforned really well and may actually be one of the best budget knives on the market at the moment. @@kaisermojica4216 Yeah totally agree with you, buying a clone is something but trying to sell them off as the real deal is plain scum. Bushcrafting/survival knives i currently own, TOPS operation Badger, Gerber Prodigy. I would like to add to my collection TOPS Operator 7, TOPS Steel Eagle 107C, Coldsteel Dropforged Survivalist and Half Breed Blades Large Bush Knife. That Bark River Bravo is a beast :)

@@Boomshaka I have a Gerber Prodigy and love it, I actually prefer it over the Gerber Strongarm. I also like the halfbreed knives LBK, looks like Monster; sure it’s a solid knife. BTW have you checked out any of DC53 knives from Sitivien and Eafengrow. Some may be cloned from or derived from previously existing designs. So far I am very impressed with DC53 Steel for Budget Knives/Hatchets between $30-70 depending on the size.

@@kaisermojica4216 had my eye on the Eafengrow EF 147, looks so good. Also a Budget small bushcraft knife to look at is the Swisstech Stahlern.

​@kaisermojica4216 I have a Prodigy as well, beat the crap out of it...thrown it, batton wood etc. Has held up great just sharpen every once in a while.

Sadly it seems it is the same situation with RMJ Tactical Tomahawks as well. Many of the ones listed on Ebay are suspiscious and the ones sold on Aliexpress have all the markings of the real stuff at least from the photos I have seen. One day I hope to have a real RMJ Tactical Tomahawk and purchase a clone as well to compare. I believe this Adamas Clone is actually well worth the $25 I paid for it. I just hate it when people try to rip off others of their hard earned money.

@@elliottpeabody1287 Most people use these for throwing at wooden targets in their backyard. Some places have Tomahawk Ranges very much like ones for bows and cross bows and throwing knives. I personally just plan to try one for camping chores and giving the other two as gifts to family members.

@@2fried121 it’s like an unboxing or first impressions video, this particular knife and the company who sells it on Amazon does not have much information out on the web, so I was hoping to see if anyone would write in comments if they happened to know more about it. If this is knife is indeed D2 and heat treated well then it’s a steal for under $20. The company seems to only have small batches of knives in their inventory so if they are handmade that’s a great value for collectors or anyone looking for a budget large knife such as this. Anyway thanks for watching and will certainly post an update once I put this blade through some wood. Also for the record I purchased leather Knife Sheaths for my 10 inch Ontario Old Hickory Butcher knife from Amazon the the knife sheaths alone cost $16-17. The leather knife sheaths are also made in Pakistan. So $18 for a knife this size that comes with a Leather Sheath is something to consider in my opinion just in terms of value.

I actually have a chip on my SCHF37 shown in this video will have to show a close up. I was batoning on the ground and hit a couple of pebbles. @kaisermojica4216 I have the 1095 version but when I first got it I took the powder coating off the blade and re heat treated it. It's a beast of a knife and I love the hollow gring

@ I wish Schrade would rerelease these in 2025 since technically the official release was I believe in 2015 they should do a 10 year Anniversary and have both Kydex and Leather Sheaths as options I would not mind paying a little extra for Kydex I think they could still sell these knives for as low as $60-$80 which is still $70-90 less than it’s competition in the Kabar, Esee and Tops brands.

@@jasongrooms8200 which one is more expensive and supposedly stronger? 8Cr13MoV is a High Carbon Stainless Steel as far as I know similar to Stainless Steels like 440A and 440C. 1095 is a Carbon Steel similar to those used by ESEE, Tops and Kabar.

@@kaisermojica4216 awesome I'm excited to see that video. When will you be posting it so I can look out for it? I've had the 1095 version for about 10 years or so and have put it through hell. I mean I haven't tried to destroy it but it's had some good torture test, only thing I've ever had to do to it is run it over my leather belt to bring it back to shaving sharp.
