28:47 I swear the bus is smiling that it's leaving the watery grave. Astonishing that there is any frame left being in the water for so long. Well done, helicopter or no helicopter!
Hey Jayson, its so cool to see a father son team in action! Im loving this series, i think one of your best ! Love that your son is there helping! I cant believe your stamana working in the mud throwing those jacks around, bit you got her right where you want her , ! Hope the ground dries out!
Josh has your awesome personality!! What a good worker! I cannot believe the amount of effort you put into the videos level on the work you do. He will never forget these times with dad. You’re gonna win the spirits will lose!! This is a great series!!!
@@SladesVWBeetle @5150mxvw Retired USAF. Worked in the crash/recovery shop for quite a few years. Have a few ‘tricks’ up my sleeve to make these recoveries quite a bit less time consuming. Hit me up, Jason.
With everything going on in the world right now, I was glad to find J &J Bus Rescuers with another episode of Buses in the Stream. I'm glad to see you overcome whatever the spirits throw at you. You made more progress and more good memories. Sorry about your bumper. Keep the videos coming. Take care.
The progress is outstanding, you'll have it out in no time! You couldn't ask for a much tougher area to have to excavate something out of. It's amazing how far sunk in these things are. Looking forward to this weekend!
Great! Looking forward to it. It will also be interesting what you find in them after cleaning. What your plans are for them. Will you keep them or sell them, whole or part out? What’s the market value if these buses? Etc etc
My hat is off for you and your son for all the efforts you have put into rescuing that poor rust bucket. The truly sad part was that it was abandoned so many years ago and allowed to get to that condition. I know you will eventually get it on the trailer, it’s just a matter of when. Oh, btw, I like that you put the nose emblem back on for the video!
Josh does a great job with the camera and is a great helper digging out this bus. It also looks like it keeps you more focused so you make less mistakes so you need to keep bringing josh with you. The spirits also seem to be nicer when Josh is with you. Can't wait for the next video.
Awesome man , much effort required on these saves, we know . Your work ethic is great and good lessons being learned , can’t wait to see that one on the way out !
The spirits always do their best to fight your best effort, but after watching your persistence and resilience, they let go and clap their hands... realising you won the battle... Cheers guys!
You absolutely amaze me J. The dedication you have to get these buses out of the pits of hell… Awesome! Kudos as well to your son for busting his ass. 😀 Perhaps investing in a stout tow rig? Can’t wait to see them on dry land. Hopefully they were worth it. Thanks J!!
thank you Glenn, just got home at 9:40 and trying to edit a vid for tomorrow ...Josh has a 9 am away baseball game ....going be a long night lol. Thank you for the kind words
Awesome ...my 2 favorite u tubers you and mustie1. so cool. I've had over the years so many vw"s. All types. Was so much fun. My favorite was a 65 hatchback and the 56 bug I had in high school
You know what it is Right The. spirits Loved the Squeaky Jack it Plays a Nice Tune For them Kinda Like a Harmonica , they Let you Get Away with the Log Roller , 🤙🏾
I have one of those light weight jacks that after 10 years of use destroyed the universal joint at the bottom end of the jack handle , i put in a new pin and i am still using it. Of course i have a place to put a jack stand and you only have a place to put another log so it won’t fall on you!
That son of yours is such a good kid, a safety officer, guide, laborer and runner, you both deserve credit for raising a very responsible young man BRAVO!! What you really need is a speed jack, I bought mine at HB a couple years ago for my shop. What a blessing it has been with my destroyed back. I can lift my truck up in 3 pumps it's that quick,It breaks my back to see you or anyone pumping and pumping to lift an inch or two, One pump is all it should take. Big credit on you for having the tenacity and wherewithal to dig and dig to get these old classics out of the earth. Can't wait ti finally see them out and you can tell the evil spirits to go back in their hellhole..
You make me feel civil. I picked a two seater outhouse from an old school in northern Vermont and moved it on an unregistered trailer on a Sunday, hoping the State Police would have been watching football. Getting this stuff on and off rustic trailers is an exercise that most folks never experience. Good for you and Josh.
haha! , now i remember why i didn't film the night i was stuck in the mud... I wanted to get on I-91 south from midnight to 4 am thinking I'd be good .....seems they are always sitting on the north side of 91 to get people speeding up to their weekend getaways.
In 1975, I needed a van to haul a bunch of material to a little shop I was building in Rockford, Michigan. In the local newspaper I found a 1962(?) Deluxe VW microbus for $200. Can't recall if it was a 21 or 23-window, but it was a sunroof model. The floor and the sunroof were both replaced with plywood, but despite the leaks and neglect it had suffered, it started and ran -- even in the middle of Winter. I sold it for $300 when I'd finished the project. I don't wish I'd kept it, but whenever I see one out here in California, it takes me back to 1975. Looks like you're in the home stretch to get this one on the trailer and on its way home. It's worth all the effort you and Josh have put forth. I'll keep watching.
You are just so determined Jason and having Josh with you is priceless sorry about your truck sure you will fix it maybe next time will be the trick and you will have that bus them spirits are sure giving you a tough time best regards Andy Allen.
I've really enjoyed this series. I have to hand it to you for not giving up in the mud and the blood and the beer. I bet both those busses main rails are toast. Of course the torsion tube situation. The 15 window is a 62' right? Cos' they changed the rear hatch in 64', right? Keep up the great work. There's more busses out there that need your help and I wanna watch!
Dude your persistence and tenacity is a true inspiration!!! Your son is growing up into a cool youngster!! Also we now know where Jimmy Hoffa ISNT buried!!! Haha you can do it Dude!!
I admire and love how calm you are in the face of all the frustrations on digging this out. I have anxiety and watching how calm you and methodical you go about this helps me when I do outdoor work, I take a breadth, and work the problem. This channel really does help me. Thank you. ps. WHEN you get the busses out...what are you going to do with them?
I am glad you didn't need the helicopter, it was only a last resort suggestion when you were there on your own Jason. You and Josh have made great progress with all the jacks and blocks. I have a suggestion; take some logs, split them down the middle and lay them in the grooves you have made with the truck you then have a 'flat road' to drive on carefully. I am looking forward to the next episode Jason and Josh. 👍👍
Y'know, I just had a thought- With all that water there, what if you mixed cement into the water while the bus is elevated out of it and then let it cure, you'd have a good foundation to jack from after that! Maybe write something in it for the spirits and they'll play nicer... XD
G'day, It's obvious what you have to do. And that is you must leave a peace offering for this angry spirit. Now, it must be something of great importance to you. And no, it can not be Josh. So, thanks for sharing another great video ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Good to see you are making progress! Couple of remarks; next time bring a good quality shovle, get some plywood sheets the size of your jacks, so they wont sink in the mud and wont dig into the VW, put some real offroad tires on your truck, you are waisting time getting stuck for the 7th time! (The best helmsmen are on shore) Otherwise; liked the videos on these 2 VW buses!
You have to get your self a mobile home axle type deal. Feed it under. Put wheels on and roll out. Invest in some air bag Jack's. Good job. Looks like good fun👍👍👌
Jason, I truly respect your never say never attitude!!!! Quality father and son time!!
School can't teach a kid this kinda stuff, learning by watching dad go one pump too far. It's just like real life, buses in the stream!
