Update 13/8: Such an amazing response, thanks a lot everyone, again! It was indeed an exciting day, and we would love to show you the restoration process, we just gotta edit something together and doing so hopefully answer some of the questions. I think the new owner might have something on the way too. Kind regards from Sweden Thanks for all the lovely response! Really awesome to read. Cheers! A little more info, as I saw some people wondering. The bus is currently back on the road, with a new owner. The restoration took approx 2 years. The lower parts were almost completly replaced. Some interior, like front sofas, electricity and such were still inside the bus. The original electric cabling were used. And the outdoor paint applied made the original paint underneath, oh yes the original from 1953, be in very good condition. No drivetrain existed when we found her. Hopefully we can show you more from the restoration and what she is up to now. Kind regards.
Thank you very much for the information. Maybe you can find some material that you can put into a video. I know it's not easy and it takes time but I agree with you, it's great how people like stories like this. Data often gets lost and the filmed moment never comes back. But do it as you enjoy. Greetings Mark
Thanks for saving this bus and making the video available to us all. Would be very interested to see more about what happened after the initial rescue.
Great work, very professional! Almost no damage during recovery! All windows are intact…in Germany they would have been smashed. Sweden IS a better place ;-)))
Here in Michigan (U.S.A.) our marshes & swampland/lakes equal your areas so we know how difficult a rescue like this can be at times. Alot of Love 💘 and dedication were needed, but well worth the effort in this case. Many thanks to all the men for their time and work saving the òld girl. I bet she never thought she'd see the road again. Thanks for posting this...and good luck on the restoration. 😊
Four Boys. A treasure hidden in the woods for years, across a lake! What an adventure! Someone needs a Big Dog though. My folks had a 63 Barndoor, but sadly our salt roads ate it away in 8 years. Can't wait to see more! Thank you for saving her.
I doubt very much that the gentlemen went through all this effort, just to not continue. It probably won't happen at pace preferred by the TH-cam algorithm or the need for instant gratification so common in the world today.
@@atleandersen1924 Filming the recovery is now not difficult, but stealing and filming a restoration like this is not that easy. But sometimes well-packaged pictures are enough to tell the story. According to my information, the car was restored and sold several years ago On the one hand, you're right. Pictures and videos were definitely taken. But if you don't make a documentation of them right away, it could be that the recordings disappear or get worse.

Thanks for saving the old VW and thanks for sharing your adventure!! Your recovery techniques were quite clever - well done! I wish I was there helping you. Thanks again!!
Great work, guys! And a really good find. I had a 64 (not a barn door) that I really loved. I wish I still had it. They are just so much fun to drive. Nothing else like it!
An amazing Video and rescue operation. Loved how the video is cut, and especially the background music. Would be great to see this VW-bus being restored and how it looks like today. 😊
Awesome team work on recovering such an iconic WV mini van...I would like to see the entire step by step process from recovery to complete restoration of this car...😎👍🇺🇸
That has to be the tiniest Tirfor-type winch I have ever seen. Looks like a good piece of kit. I have subscribed. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿. P.S. You mentioned using the original electric cabling. If it is rubber-insulated you should replace it with modern plastic-insulated wiring, due to the inherent fire-risk of perished rubber insulation.
🎉the truth, that’s what I thought they were going to do at the beginning. Praise them for the great effort they made to take it out of the woods. Not having a trailer didn’t stop them 👍👍👍
I love old cars....did the bus stand on your own land or did you buy it from someone? If not: did you steal it? At least the area lost one of its famous attractions. So i'm happy and i cry at the same time....
Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant! Somewhere on a remote lake in Sweden someone is wondering what in hell happened to the VW wagon that I spent a month getting up here for my camping spot shelter??? Lol.
How did it end up all the way out there? I wonder if some old hippie has a story about being abducted by aliens and ending up somewhere with no roads!😂
blur out the license plates WHY what do you think in your wildest imagination is going to happen... you do realize that 1000's & 1000's of other people on the road can see your plates

what amazed me was the fact that all the windows are intact(no bullet holes or rock damage) and the doors were closed..p.s. love the Music

( Not his film, hence the blurring out parts) still really interesting salvage though.

WOW Awesome rescue! Please share more of this bus. Nice job everyone. Hallo from Texas!
Inspiring!! Thankyou. The soundtrack was great too!! Was great to see it on the pontoon barge sailing across the lake!!!
Excellent! Another Barndoor saved 👍

Hauling in style! The lorry must be as old as the barndoor. 👍 Good job guys. Have much fun with the restauration!

Interesting film and good music 👍
What a nice find , if was sound enough to lift with a frame there must be a bit of the subframe left , beautiful old yokes.well saved!
I’m amazed all the glass is still intact.
That was an epic effort!
Great condition for sitting in the woods by the lake for however long
It’s in surprisingly good shape for where it’s been sitting and for how long.
Great guys !! Hopefully the Bus is back on the road 💪😎👍
I love listening to actual music on a YT video.
hard work but it looked like you were enjoying the rescue. you got my subscription.
Belo salvamento , parabéns soldados !💪💯

Actually the body seems to be in pretty nice shape for such an old bus! Am I the only one who'd like to see you make it into a Bus barge house boat??!
Seeing it floating is what got my click. My dream is to make a big pontoon barge for my camper Van and go from van life to boat life
🎉the truth, that’s what I thought they were going to do at the beginning. Praise them for the great effort they made to take it out of the woods. Not having a trailer didn’t stop them 👍👍👍
Great 💪🏼😎
but how did the Barndoor get there back then?
Driven on the ice once upon a time
Hello...already subscribed to the channel, waiting for the complete series of this restoration😊
Für Baujahr 1953 noch ziemlich Stabil!!!
Very nice 🥰
I love old cars....did the bus stand on your own land or did you buy it from someone? If not: did you steal it? At least the area lost one of its famous attractions.
So i'm happy and i cry at the same time....
Sweet find! What happen after the resque? Were's it today?
Very good
Watchable with the sound off
Are you going to restore?
A great rescue.
‘From there to here…no probs. Hold my beer.’
your so lucky... 😃,,,,, and so is that bus,,, we don't get to many finds like this in sunny Fab! old England..
Thats a mission! Congrats... looks pretty good apart from the bottom inches, but thats to be expected.
Wow, that's cool.
mám rád takové příběhy, možná bude ještě pokračovat...
I can't believe they got it on so smoothly must be kinda light
No motor and running gear...plus missing most of the floor..... wouldn't weigh a lot at all.
Bravo gentlemen 👏
That snappy music makes me want to SALVAGE some stuff!
This will be the last we ever see of this bus.
Story 👍 Music ❤
Nice 😊😊😊😊😊
VWT1 Boat Trip 😊😊😊
I would have done all this and more to rescue this bus. Please show some of the restoration or the finished project.
Th ethumbnail looked liek the coolest hose boat ... what a great way to use a few days with a bunch of mates, it doesn't matter if it's not a success.
More , please.
how did get there?
Pure Love
Determination to the max..
Wow ❤❤
❤❤
Gostei da música de abertura! Quem toca? Qual o nome da música?
Curious, how far did you have to drag it through the woods.
Seriously cool
VW people are the craziest!
I love the good ole USA. But, maybe Sweden is really for me! Love,,Dubs
well i like it as a boat too😁😁
Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant! Somewhere on a remote lake in Sweden someone is wondering what in hell happened to the VW wagon that I spent a month getting up here for my camping spot shelter??? Lol.
was the running gear with it?
Yes of course! (Nothing had been stolen over the last 30 years of people passing by). Lots of parking tickets from the Forest commission also..🤣😂
And nobody saw it going until it was gone ha ha!
🙂👍🏻
VW T1 !!!!
Not really much left of it is there? 😳
Definitely enough to restore
How did it end up all the way out there? I wonder if some old hippie has a story about being abducted by aliens and ending up somewhere with no roads!😂
blur out the license plates WHY what do you think in your wildest imagination is going to happen... you do realize that 1000's & 1000's of other people on the road can see your plates
This is how the pyramids were built
Anywhere in America the windows would all be broken and the body riddled with bullet holes and gaffiti!
Great job fellas, well done but leave out the crap music
(I guess that Swedish marshland was too boggy to take a rescue truck)..
Importerd 1938 ??? Hitler jugend VW barndoor👍👍👍♥️ 🤣😂🤣😂
💪💪💪💪💪👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Looks like something good’s coming. (RESTORATION)🇬🇧🫶🧐
