I’m so glad to find this video. After the recent, unfortunate video put out by a full time camera reviewer, with a warped version of “alternate facts,” it is good to see the real story. I’ve enjoyed your work for many years!
yeah fun fact you interrupted her class to take her photo without her permission and she never got a single dime in compensation. you came back and did an interview almost 20 years later after she had been living as a refugee and in poverty while you made money off her for years.
When Sharbat Gula becomes a grandmother she will show her grandchildren how she was on the National Geographic magazine and how her image inspired the world to give to those who are less fortunate and hopefully Afghanistan will be a better place and they will see peace.
I think Alambibi is beautiful, too. If she lived somewhere like America, I am sure it would be obvious to everyone how beautiful she is. But the pain in their lives reflects on their faces. I doubt that she is even 30, but she looks older.
Sharbat is a inspiration to all refugees. Her mom and dad were killed right before those GORGEOUS eyes! .. very sad what her lovely eyes witnessed. She is doing well with a family now. I hope she has happiness.., she deserves love and respect.
This Steve McCurry seems like such a jerk. He so impatient and arrogant and seems to lack a lot of respect for the people. The least he could have done with all the profits$$$ he made from her photographs was help the little girl at the time and her family and raise more awareness to help the people of Afghanistan especially the children. So much more could have been done especially the fact that she's an icon. Perhaps her life as well as her family's would have been a little easier but instead he kept all the profits for himself and the fame and never even went back to find her until 17 years later??After she has lived a very hard life? Really?? He took her unique beauty and exploited it all for the sake of $$$...Her eyes and beauty is what made him famous so that's the least he could have done for her and her family...so sad.
Hahaha the guy who was selling the portrait of the afghan girl didn’t know he had a legend trying to buy the iconic photo he took. Said 80 ruppies for you 🤣
I've watched this show lots of time and I think it is totally bizarre that they say that Alambibi bears a strong, or striking resemblance to the girl in the picture. Not only is her eye color totally different, but the shape of her eyes, her nose, her lips, her chin and her cheekbones! I wonder if they just staged that part in order to add some suspense to the documentary. I'm glad that they let us "meet" Alambibi and her family. I just can't believe they ever thought she was Sharbat Gula!
Proud to be pakhtun this girls at pakhtuns our girls are gorgeous this video just shows 2 there is plenty gorgeous girls in us we are mix people by the way Off course proud to be Muslim first
@doed400 Alright you need to chill. He's a photojournalist, his job is to take pictures. And in fact, they opened a charity in Sharbat's (the Afghan Girl) name called the Afghan's Children Fund. And I'm guessing you've never traveled to a country like Afghanistan. It's not a free for all. No one has the ability to just prance along the street and help every poor child they see. There's only so much a person can do.
@doed400 it's not uncommon at all in afghanistan to have that girl's eye colour. and you need to calm down. they searched for Sharbat to find out how her life has been in her community, as a refugee.
Afghan people are beautiful and great at heart but only have had nothing but a bad destiny and the worst Governments thus far. I wish the Mighty Allah shows mercy on them and a better tomorrow, as they deserve it most. Amen.
@Prince0fPersia23 hello, yes I am aware of the horrific killings that continue to happen and i pray for PEACE!!! I am against war and violence.... will it ever end???
Thanks Australia, with your communist tendencies! You may as well as blocked the first and second part! I was looking forward to seeing the conclusion.
@MrSoko5 elle choisisse pas leur marie, on les forces etc si elle refuse elle peut en mourire alors dejas rien que sa bas je pense pas quelle est le choix ;) alors renseigne toi !!!!!!!!
The girl with the green scarf is definitely an ANGEL
The young girl in the green scarf has that "it" factor most models today lack. Purity. Natural. What a beauty.
"she's my wife" haha aaah, I love afghan humour
Guess you don't have many choices (Seems the legend has it: Those who didn't like the humor, were disappeared without a trace! )
02:21
those poor hens :(
but yes, the young girl in the green scarf he photographs is absolutely striking.
I’m so glad to find this video. After the recent, unfortunate video put out by a full time camera reviewer, with a warped version of “alternate facts,” it is good to see the real story. I’ve enjoyed your work for many years!

It's stunning to see that green scarfed girl. She's very beautiful. Her eyes were perfect.
who else enjoyed the conversation between Steve and his pakistani friend salaam?
Wow the second afghan girl the Steve photographed is really beautiful!
girl with the green eyes is very pretty. if she doesn't live the same hard life that sharbat has she'll be a real beauty when she grows up.
Th egirl with the green scarf is gorgeous, the pictures don't make justice to how beautiful her eyes really are. They look darker in the pictures.
what did national geographic do for her life? i know they sold so many books but did they give anything to her? steve should answer me
ourozinho garrido why should Steve answer you??? And of course she got compensated pretty damn well after they finally found her.
The head massage looks great! Nice film, quite instructive in a country not easy to approach.
the most stunning girls are in Afghanistan
When Sharbat Gula becomes a grandmother she will show her grandchildren how she was on the National Geographic magazine and how her image inspired the world to give to those who are less fortunate and hopefully Afghanistan will be a better place and they will see peace.
:(
I seriously hope Afghan families can live together and long enough to see their offspring...
Where can we find Part 3??? It's blocked in my country.
Sigorney Weaver is the Morgan Freeman of female voice overs.

I think Alambibi is beautiful, too. If she lived somewhere like America, I am sure it would be obvious to everyone how beautiful she is. But the pain in their lives reflects on their faces. I doubt that she is even 30, but she looks older.

@doed400 it's not uncommon at all in afghanistan to have that girl's eye colour. and you need to calm down. they searched for Sharbat to find out how her life has been in her community, as a refugee.
