Videos really don't do this car in justice, it looks so good in person it's mind blowing and it has an awesome blend of luxury and raw sportiness. I prefer this to the coupe since you get a much better panorama roof setup, better 2nd row headroom, and much more trunk space. A 3rd row in the GLE is a fit and it looks better without it, that's what a GLS is for but unfortunately it is no way as good looking of a car.
Comparing costs between this GLE AMG 53 and the base GLS 450, they are within a $1,000 without any markup of course. So if you need the addl space, go with the GLS obviously, both also have the Airmatic suspension which is important for the ride quality. Just something for everyone to keep in mind when considering the most for your money.
Nick what's your opinion on the Dynamics plus package for the GLE 53. How much better does the suspension perform in comfort mode with this package and for sport handling? Do you feel it's worth it? Are the upgraded brakes much better?
Ah, here in the UK packages are called Premium & Premium Plus The adjustable suspension here in the UK is standard on the GLE 53 and is called AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL sports suspension
Those electric seats for rear access are so unnecessary and slow. I'd much rather the old fashioned way. These are quite a bit cheaper than a GLC63 here and it looks like a really good alternative.
Thanks for the suggestion! Sadly not had access to one But if my local Mercedes get one in, or if I can film one with Mercedes at their Press Office then I’ll happily try it out! 🤓
Hi Nick great video about the GLE 53 SUV I am very keen to know where this and the other GLE models are built in terms of the car factory locations and have you been to any of the Mercedes-Benz Car factory's during your time working for Mercedes-Benz of Poole to see how the many different range of car models are built? and if so what do you think of the way they are put together? How long is the current waiting list at your dealership for any new car model from any of the MB car factories at this moment in time with the semi conductor supply issues?
Thank you Speedbird2037! Glad you liked the video! Mercedes-Benz GLE's are built in the USA. Quite common though, Mercedes-Benz factories are dotted all over the world in different countries. Sadly no I haven't had the chance to visit a factory although it would be amazing to see! In terms of build quality all Mercedes-Benz are of course built extremely well but in an over simplified form, the further up the alphabet you go (and ending on S-Class) the more luxurious they are. The GLE sits right below the GLS in terms of luxury and is wonderful! I'd love one myself! Sadly as with all manufacturers at the moment the semiconductor chip shortage is having a massive impact with wait times exceeding 6 months and in some rare cases stretching to next summer.
Hi "Nick" Great video you made. 😃 If you were to choose to buy between the 2021 GLE-53 suv or GLE-53 Coupe, What would you pick? and Why? Also, do you think the Coupe style is becoming outdated? Thanks
Hey Salam, thank you 🙏 Glad you enjoyed it! Ooo that’s a tough one as they’re exactly the same car but just a different shape at the back. For me both boot sizes would be quite large and I think the coupe looks still look really smart. If I had to choose between the two, I’d probably sway more to the SUV as I quite like that shape but the coupe style is great for anyone who doesn’t like a squared off SUV look 😎
I doubt it for 2022 to be honest. Mercedes models typically have a product life cycle (new model launches) every 6-7 years with a facelift halfway on the 4 year mark (based on previous model launches etc) The GLE changed in 2019, so I guess we’ll have to keep any eye out and watch this space!
Hi Nick. Lovely video and a lovely machine to have and behold. If you don’t mind, my E class cluster on the left went blank and didn’t come up till I switched the car off and started it again after 2 hours. I called Mercedes seeing that it’s less than a year. I was told to take it to the dealership for investigation. Have you ever witnessed this situation and what do you suggest I do? Seeing that all is fine now again on the left cluster.
Hey Osezua, just to check is your steering wheel on the left or the right? Sorry it’s hard to tell and remember where everyone is from in the comments section! 😅 If it’s the instrument cluster then no, this should never go off. But if it’s the multimedia system, this has happened a few times before but only because there is an on/off button right in the middle of the car. Easy to press if you’re cleaning!
@@npoleary thanks for your reply. Steering is on the right, I’m based in the UK. The issue had nothing to do with on and off button as this was pressed several times with no display coming on till I got home and switched off the engine and started it again after 2 hours. Then it came back again
Oh how strange! The only time I’ve seen that is when the car was doing a multimedia system upgrade where it actually doesn’t do anything for a few minutes (no loading bar or anything visible on the screen). So it could have been that, no harm in asking your local Mercedes though!
Hey Jeff, with that sort of thing I’d double check with your local Mercedes-Benz as it can vary round the world. If ordering new in the UK, it’s called Anthracite Open-Pore Oak Wood Trim 👍🏼
@@npoleary I'm actually heading to my local Mercedes-Benz dealer tomorrow to hopefully spec out my AMG GLE 53 tomorrow. Strange how they give different options and different names throughout the world.
Ah that’s the whole “spec varies” round the world right there! I wish it were the same worldwide as that would be so much easier but due to different countries requirements, pricing options and I’m sure other reasons too, it can be different.
@@sohailalrahi1047 You lost your bet. In my hometown Teslas and Taycans are not so uncommon to meet, still a perfect electric car is not half as "emotional" as an AMG !
Yes it will be a shame to see them go…but the drive of electric is addictive. It’s so good! I will get one, one day! Not sure what Mercedes-AMG will do with the noise though….that I’d be interested to see!
@@npoleary great review Nick, I beg to differ though, it is harder to find a dealership currently that are honest enough to sell a gle 53 reg or coupe wo an outlandish 10 to 20k above msrp for one (in the states, NW region) even if we spec one out and wait months for its arrival, personally went through the hoops for ordering one..
Nick a good topic would be Burmester (in my opinion) My present GLE is premium pack whilst my previous GLC was premium plus and I must admit that I sorely miss Burmester in my present car (even though I have installed a sub to augment low frequency sounds)....
Aha very nice! Oh yes I know Burmester is amazing! Such a good sound system Only tricky thing though is to show it off on camera…🤔 haha It’ll sound the same!
Hi Michael, not sure what to suggest for that to be honest however what you could do is program the memory seats to a different position to get in and out. Just a thought 🤓
