This is such a cute video! Hope everything is going good with your pup.It will be a year soon, since he came into your life.He must be a grown boy. Can't help but love these black lab boys.
What a cool video to share with others. We adopted 2 poms a couple years ago and personally I've never been one of those small yip yip dog kind of ppl, I have a German shepherd and never owned small dogs before but that being said, I ran into a puppy mill and bought one dog at full price and bargained for the second. Wow, the vet bill was high! One had a broken leg and they had fleas so bad they had no hair. I had to turn the breeder in. She made the news and shut down. Yes, please adopt. :-)
Yep. We just adopted a 10wk old mutt puppy from a kill shelter one day before her death (last Friday). She was terrified, wouldn't stand, just clung to the floor. Didn't want to be touched and wouldn't look me in the eye, for days. She also had mange, hookworm's and kennel cough. In 8 days she's completely transformed in personality. Very loving, funny and submissive and LOVE'S our 5 other dogs. I took her, because I felt no one else would, because of her behavior. She is just a joy! Adopt people!
It's actually surprising how quickly a lot of what seem to be permanently emotionally scarred dogs get over their issues with just a couple of weeks in a loving, calm home environment. My friend, who is a serious dog trainer, says that people are totally mislead when they think that they can easily raise a puppy to be the exact kind of dog that they want. Unless they really study about it, a lot of people end up raising their pups with bad habits, usually because they spoil them.
puppies shouldn't be shipped like cargo on a plane, if you want a puppy it's better to drive rather than flying it. flying at such a young age could cause stress and anxiety further on in its life.
My first dog adopted from shelter, lived to be 17 years.I have a Black Lab now, adopted. He weighs in at 89lbs.We feed him MAX dry food.Made is black coat shiny.Canned wet food at dinner mixed in.Was 100 pounds.Blood test showed he had Thyroid Disease.Medication brought weight back down.Currently on recovery from cancer surgery!Christmas time, vet said,a lump,is cancer ,his life is over soon.Prayed to God.Vets wrong,3 times adayPolar Packs/Magnets drew cancer away from his heart.Happy is healthy.
No biggie, we love her! Also wanted to say we do have purebreds (bullmastiffs) as we knew little about adoption before. Facebook has REALLY changed our minds. You kind find ANY breed of dog you want on petfinder or in rescues. Our two rescues are mutts (big dogs, pit mix) and they are AWESOME. First dogs I can finally hike with!
your supposed to let the pup come out by it self, or bait it out with a treat, this way its its idea to come out and makes a confident dog. Also it starts off your relationship on a positive note!
Hi Matt.. That's cute puppy.. Besides all of the comments below, I'm sure you can learn more how to handle puppy.. But one thing I'm sure that a guy who love puppy like you is guy with good heart.. Cute puppy..
OMG! CAN'T STOP CRYING!!!! WHAT A MARVELOUS MAN YOU ARE FOR SAVING HER LIFE. YOU ARE BOTH FORTUNATE TO HAVE EACH OTHER!! AND TAKE NO NOTICE OF THE 9 NEGATIVE IGNORANT TOSSERS ! OBVIOUSLY GOT ISSUES IN THEIR LIVE. GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH X
Yep, totally agree. We've raised a lot of pups to adult hood. All turned out great. Only our bullmastiffs went through obedience, after that I trained and socialized the rest by myself I'd love to find a bullmastiff or bullmastiff mixed with another mastiff breed in rescue or a shelter.I look all the time.Just don't want to go through a breeder again. No problems, but many mastiff mixes end up in shelters, rescues. We like the brindle's and blacks, (no one wants them). 4 brindles now...
I'm Soo scared for this dog. I hope he's ok. I know this happened back in 2011. I just hope the poor dog survived and has someone who truly loves and will think of what's best for him first.
I understand the reason to adopt instead and I understand there are many animals without homes but at the same time, it isn't the breeders' puppies fault he was made... Breeded pups deserve loving homes also. Where do you think they end up when people don't purchase from breeders? Same place. Shelters. As long as we are welcoming the pet into a loving life long life with us, what does it matter where he came from? We're all good people who love our pets no matter where we got them from.
Agree 100%. I just adopted from the shelter and the dog needed some socialization, but his overall manners were great. Just pointing out alot of people can't deal with some behavioral issues =]
Such a gorgeous dog. I pick my Doberman girl on Friday, I'm so excited. I'm just watching video's of people picking up their dogs. I can't help but smile!
Beautiful dog. He probably didn’t want to get out because of the stress he went though. Don’t ever force a dog to do anything otherwise they just become fearful of whatever what was forced to them.
7 years late, but for anyone curious about getting a dog; DON’T force the dog out nor roughly hold them like this guy. This can make dogs anxious and hard to trust you in the beginning. Also, if you can, try going by local than by plane since there are cases were dogs are not properly taken care of on board.
You shouldnt of taken him out when he was scared. you should of let him come out to meet you himself. anyways, CONGRATS on your new pup! they are wonderful little dogs, you will love him.
Just for future reference guys, you shouldn't let a pup that doesn't have all of its vaccines out in an area where you aren't sure what dogs have come through. Your yard is fine, as long as you haven't had a sick dog in it EVER (parvovirus, one of the main concerns, can live for years in any environment). You shouldn't let it walk on the floor in a public place or take it to a dog park before it's about 12 weeks old or so. Not criticizing the video as obviously he was unaware, but just for you guys to actually learn something.
Karen Adams wow, you say she's criticizing? Judging? What does that make you then?! She's right. Parvovirus, if you know what it is, is deadly on young puppies and you do not want any dog suffer from this. Educate yourself before spitting your ignorance at other people's face, people who are just trying to prevent sickness and death of pups. This can be prevented simply by making sure it got the proper vaccines.
Annie Brunet Right now I don't know what you're talking about I have to go back to that video and I really don't know what you're talking about so I will get back to you on that
I just adopted a pup that was shipped to me from a high kill state. Rescue organizations work tirelessly to foster and adopt out high risk dogs/pups, cats/kittens from these high kill states. Yes she had a long flight, (5 hrs. no delays or layovers) but she flew with her brother so they wouldn't be so scared. Once here it took her a few days to adjust but she is doing Beautifully and Loves her new family very much, and we Love her. This is the first time I've adopted a dog like this, but I can't speak highly enough of the rescue organization I used. I also feel I helped an animal that may have had a different ending had I not had her shipped to me.
I'm a dog trainer, I'm well aware of how great most shelter dogs are. I was simply giving reasons as to why many people feel they cannot adopt and feel they have to buy a little fluffy puppy they can train, without realizing how much work all the crate and potty training is. That on top of socialization and basic manners a lot to tackle... Yet most new puppy owners do not think about that before hand.
Hmmm....what is the first thing you do, when you get a package....you OPEN IT. Let's not brand someone who is excited to see his new dog, a villain. Maybe his thoughts are...hey this dog has been in here a while, let me get him out, and give him some love, some water.....wow - such a bad person.....
There's not enough money in the world for me to put another puppy on an airplane! My last puppy suffered brain damage. He didn't have any food or water in 10 hours! He died 1 month before his second birthday. Don't do it people! Your puppy is worth way more than that torture. Lucky for these folks their puppy made it home safe and sound.
Yes but MOST people don't know how to raise a puppy into a proper adult and a year or two later (average age of dogs turn in's) they dump the dog at the pound. They failed in training it, it doesn't behave then they get rid of them. There are other reason's, but mostly it's the former. Many adult dogs from the shelter are already potty trained, know basic commands, good with kids and other animals. Frank AND Matt are adorable...
some people have to get purebreds. we are getting a pure bred great dane from a RESPONSIBLE breeder, because she is going to be my moms service dog. If we get a mix, we take the chances and risk that it may not get big enough. See, some people, like me, cant ADOPT!!!!!!!!!!!
Lucky puppy! Going to a loving home! He was so happy wagging his tail! These first moments together are so precious!!!🤗🤗
Hahaha! Way too cute, little worried baby. Looks like you have a nice daddy, so yay!
In spite of all these reactions here below, i think this pup is getting a warm home with this guy! He must be about 7 years old now, i think?

Always someone that knows everything, being annoying with their constant criticism.

Good one ... ☺

Why don't you learn something like how not to judge everybody.

Isn’t their enough puppies in your local area I despair
Where did u get him or her from

I seriously wish people would stop having puppies shipped to them.
Yep
I just adopted a pup that was shipped to me from a high kill state. Rescue organizations work tirelessly to foster and adopt out high risk dogs/pups, cats/kittens from these high kill states. theres alot of fake websites promising cheap puppies , there are no puppies
Exactly. There must be hundreds available in their state.
Why buy a used car when you can buy new?
Labs are amazing dogs. c:

um ive never heard of a puppy name Frank, but cute :)
I'm sure you love your beautiful dog, but is he a rescue? Did you pay for him and then pay to fly him to you? Rescues need homes too!!!❤️❤️❤️
n'aw he's adorable!:')
nice
whats her name?
Me too... but i have to wait longer. Maybe 6 years..
I'm a scared little pup having had a long flight. I am NOT coming out of this carrier until there are treats under my nose to bribe me. :)

It is a registered Labrador Retriever great comments.
