    I’m a mopar mechanic at performance jeep land and you can access the smaller start stop battery a lot easier by pulling the front right fender liner out towards you, then allowing you to lay on your back behind the front tire and remove it from the bottom with 3 10mm bolts and 2 10mm nuts for the terminals I personally hate doing them 😂 but that’s an easier way

There are plenty of videos around You-tube that explain how big of a pain these are but also how to just bypass them. If this battery goes out it will display symptoms of your primary being dead, except with all you electronics working. You can bypass this battery with one wire and never have to worry about it again. Unless of course you are welding on the jeep.

    The 11 speaker alpine sound system is amazing, also when you take the top off, it sends a signal to make the radio louder. The cutting out is a issue they should fix. As far as the carpet getting wet, real off roaders takes the carpets out, so getting wet isn't an issue. A jeep is made to wheel and get dirty, not be a luxury vehicle.

    Just a heads up, for the auxiliary battery, there’s a lead cable that goes from the auxiliary to the main battery. You just have to remove that cable.
    On the positive terminal there will be 3 terminals. The thicker one should be the auxiliary battery. And then tada, all power removed, and you’re free to weld away

    Great video. As far as the Aux battery, you don't have to disconnect the actual Aux battery if you want to kill power to the Jeep. There are certain cables on the battery and firewall that you can disconnect to kill the Aux battery. If you ever have to replace the Aux battery don't do it through the top of the Jeep. You will run risk of screwing up your fuse box that route. It is actually designed to be replaced from under the Jeep. You have to remove a few bolts holding the passenger fender on (I think around 4), and then pull the fender off (some clips might break which sucks but they are like $.25 to replace). Once the fender is removed (don't forget to disconnet the turn signal connection) you will see the box that holds the battery. Removing the 3 (10mm I think) bolts that hold the box will drop the box and the battery exposing the terminals.

    I've got a 2011. I bought it with 112k miles on it in late 2019. I'm currently at 241,000 miles in TWO years of driving it. I also have a supercharged 3.8 pushing around 370hp. My Jeep has never had an issue. I'm changing my clutch in a few days from the stock clutch to a 400hp clutch because it does slip when launching (as if I'm racing). If you just take off normally, the clutch is fine. Just mean the engine has too much hp for the clutch, so that has to go.
    Other than that, this Jeep has had NO issues over the last 128,000 miles in the last two years of driving. Has always started. Always made it home. Always made it thru off-roading. By far the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned in my life. This thing doesn't break down, even driving 250-300 miles per day.

      I won't rail on this video upload or commenters. Idiosyncrasies like he mentions are what makes a Jeep [Wrangler] a Jeep. Sloppy handling, it's a Jeep, loud and wind intrusion, yeah, it's a Jeep, poor gas mileage...it's a JEEP! Wrangler, I mean. Just Enough Essential Parts. I am on my tenth one (1st JLUR). Don't like the handling, go get a Redneck ram assist or PSC. Get the upgraded Alpine or other radio systems. There are Boom mats and others to help squelch the noise. As for the battery issue Genesis Offroad makes a beautiful dual battery tray, I just brought my second and will be installing shortly (thanks Northridge 4x4). For me the joy of a Jeep (Wrangler) is in the build. Think of like your body, not the most aestheticly pleasing, you workout and eat better. Make it what you want and know, it will within it's limits take you anywhere. And that's why Jeep (Wrangler) owners love their Jeeps. 4x1=4; 4x2=8; 4x3=12; and 4x4=Jeep. There's only one.

      One thing that challenges European carmakers is that North American vehicles are driven a lot more than European. On average a car in the EU goes 11k km/year, 15k km/year in Canada, and 22k km/year (13.5k mi) in the US. So when European makes do things like "lifetime" timing belts and transmission fluid, they fail halfway through a car's life in the US.
      The other thing is that there's no hefty displacement/carbon/size tax in North America, nor 20% VAT (in some states, vehicles aren't even subject to a sales tax). This is especially relevant to Chrysler which loves to stick large engines in everything. So what's considered a fairly cheap car here, like a Wrangler, is taxed to heck in Europe.

    • @cba360
      @cba360 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@straightpipediesel not sure who in EU does Lifetime timing belts, most now are often 10yrs or 120k miles, gearbox fluid for the life is commonly used phrase though but commonly still changed in the life of the vehicle.
      Not just the tax is the cause for us to have smaller engines, the cost of fuel is also currently £1.50 per litre of 95ron petrol, when I had a Supercharged 4.2 V8 doing 12mpg it added up quick
      Also we don't have the same engines options, wranglers in UK come with a 2.0 turbo 300bhp engine or a similar size diesel

    • @straightpipediesel
      @straightpipediesel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cba360 The Wrangler in the US has the same base engine, the 4 cyl 2.0 L turbo gas. The diesel option is larger, the same 3.0 L diesel on the Euro Chrysler 300, etc. and Europe doesn't get the 3.6L V6. The thing is the EPA mileage rating difference from the base to the V-6 is a loss of merely 1 MPG (22 vs 21), but you have European countries with displacement taxes which means you don't get it.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@straightpipediesel The 2.0L turbo is actually more expensive than the 3.6L V6. They do drop $500 if you go with the 2L, but then they make you take the automatic transmission which increases the price over the V6 with a manual.
      I have the 2L, but in plugin hybrid form (375 hp and 470 lb ft of torque). It's the second quickest after the V8 equiped Rubicon 392 (470 hp and 470 lb ft of torque) and it gets better mileage for shorter trips (long trips is about 20 mpg). It really would be the best setup for Europe.

    Aux battery can be disconnected on the right side of the fuse box. You don’t have to pull the battery or even access it if all you want to do is disconnect it from the vehicle for welding.
    Pull the top off the fuse box. On the right side you’ll see multiple studs with wires held on by nuts. Disconnect the aux power wires from there. I believe there are two but don’t quote me. I think the main one is connected to the N2 stud. I have it wrote down and in my glove box. I’m 400 miles from my Jeep or I’d look lol. Just search on the net. Plenty of info out there.

By the time it was 3 yrs old, it'd been in the shop probably a good 85 times! Wheel defects, water leakage, gas tank failure at 3 yrs old. After replacing entire fuel tank, got it back and 3 wks later transmission went out! (defect) At 3 yrs old!! Airbag failure, oil pan defects. Window defoggers defects, air actuators constantly go out, head gasket/warped heads... repeated P06 cylinder codes and misfires that weren't resolved when replacing coil pack, spark plugs, sp wires (twice), catalytic converter replacement, oxygen sensors. AND, let's not forget that "Death Wobble"! There's nothing better than coming around a mountain at night on a highway doing 55, with rain, and all of the sudden your sh*t $44,000 pile of sh*t Jeep goes into a Death Wobble. In my opinion they are cool as a toy vehicle. But absolutely awful everyday vehicle. The heat is HOT which is nice in winter, and since the inside - specially in the rear is so drafty (hard top).

      This is interesting, I went on Vacation and ended up with a jeep for a week and fell in love with it. Sold my Equinox and bought a JL for my daily. Love the truck like ride height but small car like parking and was simply so much fun to drive! Won't be as comfy as my car was, but much more fun!

      @@russluck4290 i do have to say, driving around town was fun, nice turning radius, i really like the seating position. I don't like how the reliability and quality can be very poor, specially for a vehicle that averages over $50K USD.

      @@PrinceofPwnage Yes, that is definitely a concern, the reliability. But, then again, my last truck blew a transmission at 99,000 and my first equinox blew a rod at 80,000 and the transmission went at 195,000, my kids car turbo went out at 125,000 and my dad blew a motor in his Subaru at 45,000 miles! Seems like issues all around these days, sadly!

    The reason I bought my JL was because they finally got it right. Plenty of power, 8 speed trans, it can comfortably cruise down the interstate at 80mph (if left stock) and it looks good.

    I own a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport S JL. Its a great vehicle, no complaints. I've owned Chevy, Ford and Dodge pick ups. My wife has owned Chrysler , KIA, Ford cars..They all have issues and they all today have hiccups.......Only vehicles I've owned that didn't require a ton of cash or a mechanic on speed dial is my 2002 Ford 7.3L Super Duty Diesel, my wife's 2013 KIA Optima and my '19 Jeep Wrangler....All preform well and give the best bang for the buck....

      Wrong. It was a 6 speed manual with 33” ko2s. Poor performance and poor mpg too. My 34” gladiator ecodiesel gets 4-5mpg better and doesnt slow down on inclines lol.

    Clicked on the video because of a "Clickbait title", but stayed because of great content.

    I went with the jk. The jl interior looked to 90’s futura for me, reminded me of all the gotti headphones and stereos that came out back then. Also I wanted more room in the back and the jl roll bars are more narrow then the jk eliminating some room. I was able to stack 5 pallets in my jeep jk and we tested it against my buddies jl rubicon and only one would fit cocked to the side. I like the beefiness of the jk over the jl but …… you can get far more cooler add ons for the jl then the jk and it has the gutters that go all the way back across the top. The jl also doesn’t flex as much as the jk which can be good or bad depending on who you are.

    Bruh, this is the best car review in the history of TH-cam. Seriously. I love how you were like I knew what I was getting & gave an honest review of its faults without completely trashing your car.

    I bought a 2013 with the 6 Speed Manuel with 96k for $24000 a little over a year ago- had a 98 grand Cherokee with 234000 when automatic tranny crapped out! I’m very happy with the wrangler- I put about 3000 in deferred maintenance that dealer wouldn’t fix new battery, plugs, pvc valve, rear diffservice, new shocks, steering dampner and replaced the rear speakers and added new stock decals, chrome side mirror covers, chrome metal hood latches, new headlights, led fog lights instead of the stock, serpentine belt. Dealer put new brakes tires, front diff, radiator and tranny flush and new clock spring! The car runs and looks great and goes thru the snow like butter! I think they ride ok for a daily driver some camping and in inclement weather, interiors a little noisey- overall for the price I think it’s a great all around vehicle! I could have bought one new- why- let someone else eat the depreciation- I think she’ll go 230 to 250k- might need a clutch tires and brakes and more tuneup! I figure about $10-13k in total repairs maintenance costs for 10 to 12 years! Maybe you should get used next time! I’m happy with mine!
