Bought a used 2010 2 door Sahara earlier this year in April 2023. Has over 155.000 miles. Love it. Runs great. Use it as my daily driver. Plan on keeping it as long as it will go. Pretty technical so I’ll do basic maintenance myself.
Have similar, 515,000 klms on the clock, have done all the servicing , and maintenance after one service that didn't satisfy. Still going strong. Oh, sorry, purchased new 2010.
@@ezinaz1 why, cause you have not got a clue. We have two shop wranglers, one 2014 with 250,000klm and another 2012 that just hit 300,000klm with no mechanical failures. Some of these were hard klm’s also, outback nsw, northern territory and the cape. Still going strong.
Everything listed by the mechanic can be applied to ANY other car. ANY other car has an example of a person with a shitty experience, bad engines, cooling systems, flat tires etc. etc. One example means nothing. I drive a 2014 and it is a daily driver. Zero issues as long as you provide the care required by every car.
I'm going to buy my first jeep today and listening to that mechanic I'm like, holy shit, what am I getting into. Then I realized, that's one incident. I had a nissan frontier for 14 years, it had its issues but all cars do
@@petrixtechzambia6328unless it’s a Toyota and it’s not one of their twin turbo diesel engines. Toyota have the lowest fault rates in the world. I’d have a Toyota/Lexus over this POS
I have a 2017 JKU Sport. Unmolested, factory standard 46k on the clock. Not beating my own drum, but it’s probably the best example I’ve seen in Australia. I bought it new and it was love at first sight. It drives like a truck, you feel every bump, bit vague (but predictable) at highway speed, the wind noise is annoying. But saying all that, that’s why I love it. It’s a car you drive! It doesn’t do it for you! Which adds to the charm. The pentastar 3.6 is brilliant, it sounds angry and gets the 2T girl moving with plenty of enthusiasm. 20 year Jeep owner from XJs to Tjs and a JKU that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I am fairly certain the mechanic in the vid was talking about the Diesel or the old 3.8 boat anchor. Stay away from that, look after it and you will get smiles every time you jump into its uncomfortable drivers seat.
I've had the 22 Wrangler Unlimited JL in the Rubicon spec for a few months. It came with a hard to see left indicator on the dash. Jeep replaced the entire instrument cluster for free and it was no fuss at all, so i can't relate to the comments on customer service. The car itself stock is an absolute monster offroad. On road the handling is still a little sh*t but it pulls off the mark pretty damn well for a 4x4. That said, so far, it's my all time favourite car. Love it. Save for the JL
Had a 2008 Rubicon 3.8, bought it with 60000km. Previous owner was a young lady that used it as a fashion statement in Sandton, South Africa. First time I used the diff locks, both of them did not want to release. They were replaced by the dealer under warranty. Currently driving our 6th Jeep, but I think we are the lucky ones, no failures on 5 of them. The first one was a 4.7 Grand, blown head gasket after a waterpipe burst in a rainstorm and we did not notice it. Sold it with about 300 000km on the clock. My pick so far, the 4.7 Grand and WKUL diesel Sahara. I liked the Rubicon, but it made off road driving too easy.
I own two Wranglers: a 1998 TJ soft top and a 2 door 2012 JK. The novelty hasn’t worn off yet, and in my case, I have purchased both used, but both were cared for by other previous owners, so I have avoided many problems associated with highly modified and hard off road use. Your review for the 2021 is spot on, except again, the novelty, which I would call more of a passion, remains.
Have a 2012 sport Wrangler closing in on 180,000 miles. Few sets of brakes and spark plug wires replaced. No other issues at all. Does leak once in awhile but very happy with it. Hope I didn't just put the jinx on
I recently bought a 3.8 wrangler and was directed that way buy a 30 year jeep mechanic friend of mine. His logic was unless you wanted the older 4.0 the 3.8 is the next best thing (next to maybe a 392). Even with the somewhat higher fail rate from the transmissions in that year if your prime concern is reliability they seem to be the better choice. At least for his locations he has worked at over the years even if you include transmission services the 3.6 was brought in with failure rates almost double that of the 3.8. He says if you are dead set on the 3.6 because you want the extra power aim for 2015 or later.
Yeah, not really. The 3.8 is fraught with issues. We have replaced 3 3.8 engines in one vehicle alone. A close friend had one spit a piston when it was a few years old on the freeway and she got rid of it. Our shop 2012 Wrangler currently has 300,000klm and other than replacing the oil cooler and general servicing, we have not touched it.
@@thestand2434 Well I don't think the 3.8s are a pinnacle of reliability, I wouldn't put any Jeep engine at that level to be honest but just saying most Jeep mechanics I have met has said if you want reliability the 3.8 is better. They just say they see them far less frequently
I owned a 2001 TJ sport for 10 years, only thing that went wrong was the rear Dana 44 diff. First time due to me being a teenager and treating her like a rally spec Audi Quattro, second time due to being installed incorrectly by the mechanic. Replaced for free. Had a 2011 JK sport (3.8) for 2 years now. So far, no issues at all 🤞🏾 thirsty as hell and truly terrible on corrugations, but otherwise great fun to drive. Replaced the freedom panels with a bestop sunrider, so nice with the roof off! And even fairly standard (33's, no diff locks) she is incredible off road. Both have been daily drivers and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another
I bought a 2011 in 2019. I’ve changed the battery, the tires and done suspension work. Daily driven. It’s been great!

I own a jeep jk 2015 rubicon with 125,000 miles well maintained mostly drivin on the highway and very little off road, i dont want to scratch it 😜 it still look brand new, I get alot of compliments every time i go out the only major thing that happend to my jeep was that i had to change was the rockers and lifters but after i did that it runs like new. im never getting rid of this model EVER.
Thanks for that. I have a 2010 Unlimited and I LOVE it. When I first took it out of the car yard it had a problem with the EGR valve a week later, fortunately the car yard fixed it, even though it was too old for a full warranty. The the EGR valve failed again (faulty valve) and they replaced that one too. Then I needed to replace the radiator, this also happened with the previous TJ I had, (so watch out for that), they have made the top of the radiator in plastic (duh), stupid, stupid, stupid. It's been a couple of years trouble free, but now it needs a fuel injector, and I'm dreading the cost. I don't go to Jeep mechanics, but my local guy is fabulous and always uses after market parts. I'm wondering whether it might be prudent to replace All of the injectors at the same time? Because the head will be off anyway, don't want to risk going through that again.
I found jeep owners love em or hate em with a passion ,no middle ground. Wranglers are not immune to problems but these models 2007,2008 and 2012 are at the top of the list due to how bad these problems were. The 2007 Jeep Wrangler went through a total of 10 recalls.
What about a 2013? Im considering a 2013 jkr with the 10a package and it only has 14k miles. However, the motor issues in 2012 are scaring me. This was was built according to the door, 4 of 13. So idk if thats good or bad
Recalls are only a problem when you buy are car new. 2007 was the first year for the model so more likely to have Recalls. I have a 2007 2dr manual and the Recalls would have been addressed long before I owned it. The 3.8 is a reasonably reliable engine. Though I wouldn't choose to own a wrangler as my only vehicle.
I owned a toyota tacoma went up to Tahoe and hit a blizzard truck blew a gasket and I have heard Toyta does not handle the extreme weather well. This is a game changer. I was on the lot looking for something and I think I found it in the Jeep wrangler. Praying my mechanic is going to back me up on this.
Ok Full disclosure. I don't own a wrangler but am planning on buying one. I felt overall not bad review but a couple of points I found lacking. First, most of the comments are opinions and subject to individual tastes and likes or dislikes. Second, the headlight issue. Seeing them on the road I would agree they're not the brightest out there but frankly I like that. First they are bright enough if you're driving reasonable speeds. If you're in the middle of nowhere you have your high beams or aftermarket spotties on anyway. Frankly all the new LED, hi-intensity, burn your retinas out are just too much. If you need that much light on a suburban street you don't need brighter lights, you need glasses. Thirdly, I keep hearing mechanics, car salesmen and other 'experts' all saying how unreliable they are. I would suggest that all brands and models have certain issues hence all the recalls even the holy toyota's. I haven't seen any mechanic actually specifically show these common problems. They also don't go into how and if the owners have maintained their vehicles. Saying that they are great off-road but they're no good around town? That doesn't make any sense. So my car is reliable enough to cross the Rubicon trail or Moab or similar but can't handle the local street? Dealerships are a different problem but Jeep has invested millions into these vehicles to make sure that when you are in the middle of nowhere you get to come home. I would suggest that a lot of these mechanics just aren't trained enough so jeeps like typically european cars are a problem. When all you know is how to swing a hammer, a screwdriver could be challenging. Take note for the next four weeks as you go around town which cars you see broken down on the side of the road or the back of a tow truck. I'm willing to bet there aren't too many jeep wranglers.
If you think the wrangler is horrible you know nothing about them. Yes if you read consumer reports comparing it to a crossover they will complain about the ride and leaks blah blah, exactly the things that make them great. The only other thing I can think of with 2 solid axles currently is a super duty Ford pickup. Wranglers are a tank.I’m on my 4th.plus the trade in values are killer. But yeah buy a stock one after like 2013 with the 3.6 engine, trust me
I have a 2 door JK CRD and the best thing I did was removing back seats. Takes 5 min to take them off and re-install. LOL To be earnest, my merc gave me more trouble than jeep. Even I took my JK to offroad here and there.
they are by far the best off-road cars you can get at that price point. Most other SUVs or utes will never be able to tackle the terrains that the Wrangler can do.
why would you buy a rubicon if you're not going off road? literally the entire rubicon package is just for off road. sell it to someone who'll use it for what it was built for and go buy a sport. you don't need lockers and a strong front axle if you never go off pavement.
Wranglers are not unreliable. What you get is massive abuse and no maintenance I got a 3.8 manual. Been abused for 8years but well maintained. It’s been rock solid reliable. But they are a bit rough and pretty basic
Most the things you mention on the exterior is true on 90% of vehicles, and not all wranglers are used off road, we call those mall crawlers. Reliability i disagree with you on that, maybe because I maintain mine on the highest level of need, and I off road with her. I have a 2016 Rubicon hard rock, bought new. And still love the beast. She has 85k miles on her, so she has been driven
The JKs are almost like two completely different cars, the originals and the post 2012s. I know you briefly mentioned it at the end to aim for a 2012 or above with Pentastar, but it wasn’t mentioned at all earlier and through your mechanics discussion. Yeah there is stuff that can still go wrong, but they are pretty dependable from 2012 on. Also feel you forgot the whole top thing, being a convertible and with removable panels etc is also a big part of the Wrangler experience. Only car of its type here.
No car will replace my "JK Wrangler 2015 Baja Yellow X Games edition". Jaws drop every street. Kids point at it. People takes a second to take a selfie with it. She shines so good on sunlight. She seems so powerful and beautiful. She rides in a so bumpy but lovely way. That noises on road. That antiaerodynamic shape.. :) And yes, it literally can climb until it falls to its back ;)
Yes thought the mechanic didn’t do an exhaustive review of the issues. I am genuinely interested in buying one and this video scared me off. This comment gives me hope. I understand there is a diesel one as well would have liked to know from the mechanic how good are those but he didn’t mention them at all …
@@evigano Yeah, I mean I am sure there are some basic Toyota's that are more reliable, but these are generally pretty good. Definitely post 2012 is better. The diesel, some people love them but they're definitely not as reliable and can require a lot of maintenance. Apparently those are better after 2012 as well, but still I would probably avoid. They also don't seem that efficient compared to the petrol to be worth the trouble. 2012 update also introduced a new auto gearbox with 5 speeds, rather than the older, problematic 4 speed.
If you’re buying a used Wrangler it’s imperative that a qualified mechanic give it a thorough and complete scan and visual check. It’s also important to do the regular maintenance suggested by the manufacturer. I’ve owned 3 Jeeps.Never had a serious mechanical issue with any of them. I currently own a 2015 Wrangler Freedom with the 3.6 engine. Buying any used car is a risk. It available because the previous owner wanted to get rid of it, but the new potential owner doesn’t know the cars history……but it’s history is available online. The cost for this information is minimal. All that’s needed is the VIN number.
My 2012 Wrangler Sport (first gen 3.6L) had to have the engine replaced at 82K miles. The first gen 3.6 is infamous in failures. Was replaced by with a 2015 second gen 3.6L which, I have been told, was the first "good" year for a 3.6L. I do like the vehicle so I hope it holds up. That first engine was a nightmare.
I loved the comment about the headlights. I rented one of these in Hawaii and - truthfully - my Pletzl head torch out-shone the Jeep's lights. As we had to do a fair bit of driving at night in order to get to dive sites by first light, I ended up duct-taping two head torches to the hood in order to improve night-time visibility. The Jeep lights were truly pathetic. As you can imagine, this impromptu after-market mod garnered some amusing comments....
Until Jeep began installing LED's, the stock headlights were always crap, luckily there were always good aftermarkets options, but few seemed bothered by them. I liked clear polycarbonate headlights with Piaa Yellow Fog/ bulbs which reduced glare in rain.
In the states some dealers offer lifetime powertrain warranty on the Wranglers. My ethos is make it a second or third vehicle, I currently have a newer 2 door as a daily and I absolutely love it.
Just found this channel. Awesome to see detailed reviews on used vehicles and in metro Sydney to boot! Gotta say you are killing my heart that's fighting my head about buying one of these. Though I do think you can find fairly stock ones around as so many have been used as fashion statements in the city rather than as rock crawlers.
Thanks so much mate! Yeah it's a tough one. We reached out to loads of Jeep specialists and fans when researching this and if you find the right example and are either very handy with a tool kit or mentally and financially prepared for what is potentially lurking around the corner, they can be an awesome thing. - AK
@@InspirationIsFree To give you hope on your jeep journey, the previous shap, a TJ wrangler, is a far more reliable prospect albeit giving up 2 doors and a good chunk of fuel efficiency.
Modern wranglers are trash. Plagued with various quality control issues. If you are planning on leasing for 3 years, you'll be fine, but if you want to buy and keep it 15+ years, but an old wrangler or get a 4Runner.
@@evanjones6704 I believe they had issues ‘at the time’ and still only a relatively small number, but those issues are unlikely to affect owners today.
I own a 2005 TJ 200kms. Its unbreakable! I akso own a new JL. I had a looser connector when i bought it but ever since then its been fine. Would love to know what engine tbat mechanic was talking about. The 3.8 isnt a bad engine and the 3.6 has proven to be pretty reliable
I disagree with the summary of buy a late model with the pentastar 3.6L engine. While these motors are quick they suffer from timing chain failures, cooling system and oil cooler failures, rocker arm failures. These are similar to the GM Alloytec motors. The diesel 2.8L engines is also found in Australia in the Holden / Chev Colorado. Like most common rail diesel engines they suffer from injector and fuel pump issues. I believe all the auto are on the weak side. Therefore the pick of the range secondhand for simplicity and reliability would have to be the 3.8L EGH manual. This motor is actually the same motor that was developed for the Chrysler Grand Voyager minivan in 1989. These engines are a compact 60 degree 2 valve per cylinder pushrod design with hydraulic lifters. They slow, dependable and reliable and in American delivery vans have been known to last 500,000miles! Because they are a little old and slow now they can be picked up for around $10K Aus! Also if the engine fails you can source a cheep replacement from a Chrysler Grand Voyager minivan!
❤️ the wheel speed sensors when they fail due to axel seals leaking on them and cut your cruise control, just pull over turn the car off and have a wander around for 5 minutes and you’ll be sweet! Encouraging you to get outdoors! But probably should get those axel seals done eventually
I have a 2008 JK, I love it some much and only had 79k miles on it when I bought it. However, it is not reliable. Water pump, steering stabilizer, lower intake manifold, tyrods, shocks, have all gone bad within the 6 months of owning it. Hope all the kinks are now worked out. My gas mileage is only 17 mpg as well :(
As I watch this video further I would like to add that the gas lines did rot out as well, and I have a small hole in my frame about the size of a quarter. Jeeps are NOTORIOUS for rusting frames. The body may look fine but underneath is always a different story. However, power coating the frame is helping protect anything from rusting further
Your mechanic discussing faults must be referring to the 3.8 pre 2012. The 3.6 litre engine that has been put in wranglers since appears sound. I cant find a single complaint about this engine on the internet (forums etc) which is amazing for an engine 10 years old. There are lots about the 3.8 though.
There’s two problems that are common. The lifters on the cam can bend the valves and cause a squeaking which means it’s flattening the cam and is a pricey repair. The other is the exhaust manifold breaks really easy. And needs to be replaced. The problem is it’s cast in to the head.
Also the 3.8 is more reliable but gutless.the 3.6 is a very good engine but does have some weak point. Oil pressure sensor. Thermostat. oil cooler. Cam sensors.
Near every single part of the Wrangler is aftermarket upgradable. The catalogue is absolutely massive. Maybe the largest of any car ever. Which is great and necessary because you're going to need it as the OEM is absolute garbage. Easier to just build a good one new from the aftermarket catalogue.
The only vehicle line that is significantly more reliable than Jeep would be Toyota. Ford is no more reliable, Chevy is not, Range Rover is certainly not. There is a reason the Jeep Wrangler is either number 1 or number 2 in resale value
I agree with your mechanic on this one my daughter has the 3.8 jk seems to be ok since it had a new computer and i tricked the o2 sensors into thinking the cats are fine. still needs a new starter motor lots of plastics inside them and bloody expensive.
Met a guy once on some pretty hairy off road trails with a heavily modified wrangler and it had 100k on clock and was third engine. Went better off road than any other vehicle there but as the owner said to us they are amazing off road but if you want something long distance or a reliable daily then look elsewhere
“Not Reliable”. Very vague and doesn’t specifically what exactly goes wrong. I had my 3.6L V6 Wrangler since 2016 and have literally NEVER had any issues regarding engine problems😂😂
Current owner of 2 JKs. The hood latch bit is a lie - have never seen that. Reliability is also a lie - out of the 5 (yes, five) wranglers we have the only one that leaks is the 83 (CJ) - has a small block chevy V8 - engine does tend to drip oil. If you keep up with regular maintenance, reliability is never an issue.
Hi Jason, thanks so much for watching and taking the time out to comment. Most Wranglers are free from issues however, when researching through countless consumer satisfaction reports, reaching out to Jeep specialists and technicians and various mechanics that specialise in 4x4, they unfortunately do suffer from quite a few common issues. We aren't for a second doubting their incredible ability and when maintained and driven correctly, should hopefully be trouble free, the drama is many people fail to care for them properly or have zero mechanical sympathy, resulting in major issues. While this can occur on any vehicle, Jeep products unfortunately are regularly at the pointy end of the various consumer reports and lists when it comes to inherent issues. - AK
@@ReDriven The main reason for it is that the ones with issues are mostly heavily modified. Also most people commenting on unreliability never owned one (the worst are the mechanics). We have owned 4 Jeeps over the last 20 plus years including a TJ Wrangler and all were absolutely faultless and fun to drive. Our WJ 4.7 V8 that we owned for 16 years was only written off by a hail storm. That thing was unstoppable off road with solid axels, QD2 and an amazing car on road. I am still kicking myself for accepting the insurance offer over few dents and a broken windscreen. We still drive a GC WK2 and it is amazing and very reliable car compared to quite a few German cars that I also owned. All cars need maintenance and must be treated as the engineers that designed them intended. Although I like and appreciate most off road cars, our next car will be another Jeep.
I'd lov to know what you think of the Jeep XJ Cherokee. I had one from new back in 1995 and it was great. So good I upgraded to a Grand Cherokee as soon as they came out.....HUGE MISTAKE. From a car that ran faultlessly to a car that that was nothing but a piece of junk. I sold the Grand Cherokee in 1999 and never went near Jeep again for over 20 years. I always wondered why one jeep was so good and the other so crap. I started reading up on it and found a lot people love the XJ. In the USA they have a huge fan base and cult following. Last year I went out and bought a very original and well looked after 1998 XJ Sport. I could write on and on about it but I think you should do a story on it as it is a rare 'Good Jeep' story. BTW, I saw on one of your other videos you said you wear a Seiko over a Rolex. I couldn't agree more and in fact I often say exactly that. If you are in tht frame of mind then get yourself an Orient Star...best value watch in the world ( Seiko owned) ...kills a Rolex for quality at a price.
I had an older cherokee sport (1998? 2000?) which was great then got a grand cherokee that was kind of shit. Problem with the computer module where it didn't regulate the fuel properly and would buck and carry on while driving and shut off near every time you stopped at a light or stop sign. Got rid of it asap.
Had an 01 Cherokee in the US, ran great for 172000 miles before gifting it to come live in Aust. Was shocked to see XJ's in Aust in 2013. U could buy a good looking one in 2017 for 4K, now in 2023 they go for 15K.
Just sold my 2012 jku sahara. Solid vehicle. If your looking for a quiet smooth road vehicle look elsewhere. It's a Jeep, stop thinking it's going to drive like a lexus
I have a 2009 JK sport Rocky mountain edition.around 68 thousand miles . So far the heater core has gone, the radiator, a fuel injector, an idler pulley, the MAP sensor and of course standard things like plugs and wires. Had the trans fluid changed, not flushed. Had to replace the rubber bump stops too as they rotted out. Jeeps use sub standard parts and are poorly designed. Poor handling, poor fuel economy, very uncomfortable and limited space inside. I am so sorry I bought one but cannot afford to buy something better. My advice is if you see a Jeep dealership or a Jeep for private sale, run away quickly! Don`t look back.
Overlander Dan Grec (The Road Chose Me), drove across the entire American continent and circumnavigated Africa, and is currently circumnavigating Australia. He used a different Wrangler for each continent and i believe he claimed they were 'very reliable'. He denies he is sponsored by Jeep. Interestingly, he did admit that his Rubicon in Africa developed some problem, so he was forced to drive a considerable distance using only 2wd.

Sad that they are complete crap. Friend had 3, all of them had major problems before 75k miles. Gets 1 star in the EuroNCAP crash test, marginal in the IIHS side and front crash, and poor in headlights. The thing flipped in the crash test! Repair pall ranks it 25th out of 26 in small crossover reliability, materials are questionable, and lots of parts are shared from Fiat, which is known for being crap.

Yup I own one, the 09 3.8ltr. Did my research on reliability and found that it is the 3.6 with issues, not sure what year models though, perhaps the earlier ones, but what happens is the roller bearings in the valve rockers begin to fail ie a loud tapping sounds from the engine like a loose tappet and then if left untreated the engine disintegrates.

Wow clocking 300 000km on Jeep its unheard of that's a distance from the earth to the moon you sure are lucky
They look fkd up... IMO.. like a junkie wagon almost.
@@meganjay30 Well you know what they say about opnions?
Have a 2012 sport Wrangler closing in on 180,000 miles. Few sets of brakes and spark plug wires replaced. No other issues at all. Does leak once in awhile but very happy with it. Hope I didn't just put the jinx on
Mate, another logical review. I have owned a wrangler and I’m waiting on my next one. I agree with everything you said.
Planning on buying one how would you describe it in 1 word
Hi mate..Which engine in jeep wrangler is best? And what year is the best?.
But yeah buy a stock one after like 2013 with the 3.6 engine, trust me
Have you tried the diesel?
Would like to know if they're reliable or not...
I have a 2 door JK CRD and the best thing I did was removing back seats. Takes 5 min to take them off and re-install. LOL
To be earnest, my merc gave me more trouble than jeep. Even I took my JK to offroad here and there.
Why do they hold such amazing resale value if it’s actually not reliable
they are by far the best off-road cars you can get at that price point. Most other SUVs or utes will never be able to tackle the terrains that the Wrangler can do.
had one 2013 rubicon with 3.8l v6, never offroad, so it is still running happily without a tiny issue
why would you buy a rubicon if you're not going off road? literally the entire rubicon package is just for off road. sell it to someone who'll use it for what it was built for and go buy a sport. you don't need lockers and a strong front axle if you never go off pavement.
2013 would be a 3.6. The 3.8 was discontinued in early 2012.
Wife has a 2014 2 door and I have a 2015 4 door. No plans on getting rid of either, they have been great to us!
I heard a statistic that 90% of Wranglers are still on the road... Presumably waiting for the tow truck.
No they are on the road lol
The other 10% are broken on a trail someplace.
My 2013 leaks right on to the stereo and added aftermarket hood latches
Original ones were garbage. However I still have it and put up with the leak
I have a 2012 JKU I bought brand new. And it has a 144,000 miles on it. I've always maintained it and have never had so much as a hiccup out of it.
Me too. I'm at 111k miles, just had the underneath stone chipped. Way more reliable and fun to operate than my ex-wife 😊
Great review,I own a 2018 wrangler and I fucken love it, no problems so far and even if problems occur it will always be worth it.love my jeep.
how many kms/miles do you think you can get on it before it is time for a new one?
And yes, it literally can climb until it falls to its back ;)
Yes thought the mechanic didn’t do an exhaustive review of the issues.
Own 2015 jk love every bit of it
Wranglers came with different engines and the mechanic did not specify which engine had the failure.
🚨 Did you see the “iseecars” report for the lowest depreciation. #1 Jeep Wrangler #2 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited! 🚨
I needed this. Finally buying a JK wrangler
@ReDriven Your comparison with Mark Wahlberg was spot on! Anyone who buys one of these without doing their research needs their heads checked.
8:50 bro I can't stop laughing😂
Beast. 2009 JK 2DR 6 speed manual. Would not live without one now.
Stock. If you can't drive there with it you don't need to be going.
- AK
@@ReDriven Cheers mate, subscribed!
@@InspirationIsFree To give you hope on your jeep journey, the previous shap, a TJ wrangler, is a far more reliable prospect albeit giving up 2 doors and a good chunk of fuel efficiency.
The 2 door JK rubicon was the favourite car that ive owned.
I have a JK Rubicon 2 door and I love it, although with the 3.6 litre V6 being so thirsty, it’s costing me a fortune to run, still worth it though!
Modern wranglers are trash. Plagued with various quality control issues. If you are planning on leasing for 3 years, you'll be fine, but if you want to buy and keep it 15+ years, but an old wrangler or get a 4Runner.
2014 and newer are actually pretty damn reliable. Any wrangler with a 3.8 (07-12) I’d stay away from though.
@Michael Hughes I heard the first two years has slight issues that were ironed out by ‘14
@@evanjones6704 I believe they had issues ‘at the time’ and still only a relatively small number, but those issues are unlikely to affect owners today.
@@mattdebyl8806what issues did the wranglers have mate?
I don't live down under, but these are good reviews! Unbiased.
The only vehicle line that is significantly more reliable than Jeep would be Toyota. Ford is no more reliable, Chevy is not, Range Rover is certainly not. There is a reason the Jeep Wrangler is either number 1 or number 2 in resale value
I have a 2017 and it’s grown on me , never selling it
all wranglers up to 2005 are brilliant but after that its a bit hit and miss !
I agree with your mechanic on this one my daughter has the 3.8 jk seems to be ok since it had a new computer and i tricked the o2 sensors into thinking the cats are fine. still needs a new starter motor lots of plastics inside them and bloody expensive.
Finally, a spot for me fish!! Good work jeep!
Couldn't get away with those shorts in my area. Good for you.
That was a very funny video to watch - absolutely loved it!
Thanks Justin. - AK
Great to hear!
They might be talking about the pre-2010 models which I hear were really bad engines. 2007 and 2008 I think.
I would LOVE you guys to face off an 80s sierra against one of these
Current owner of 2 JKs.
Great review and heaps of thought provoking info for my decision making! Solid video. Subscribed

Love the Seiko Turtle! Gorgeous Jubilee as well.
Im thinking about buying one. They are super capable offroad. Nothing really comes close.
Thanks for the honest review mate.
The 1995 straight six engines were bullet proof, then something went wrong down the line.
Just sold my 2012 jku sahara. Solid vehicle. If your looking for a quiet smooth road vehicle look elsewhere. It's a Jeep, stop thinking it's going to drive like a lexus
I’m late to the party but “nets for your fish “ ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha funny as hell !
Mate it’s a 15 year old car.
Cars need parts etc
I’d say you’re lucky if that’s all the issues since you’ve owned it.
Get the diesel one with the mercedes transmission.

This fella is kinda funny! lol 😆 Enjoyed the review!
That is exactly how I feel. No desire to off road, but I love the look and love the idea of taking the top off of it. Especially the Freedom Top (I think it's called). My daughter has a '21 and I love it and so does she.
Can you guys please do one on the gladiator?
What has Mark Wahlberg done to you?
Well it's a Jeep thing. You wouldn't understand.

What are your thoughts on a used 2013, 2 door, manual, diesel, 4X4 2.8L jeep sport wrangler with 35000km. It looks in relatively good condition? I’m tossing up between this and a used, low km 2017 subaru xv s2Oi-s heeeeelp? I want to do a bit of adventuring with my dogs which do you think would be suitable
hey there im looking to buy the same Car , the 2.8l diesel manual jeep .... how did you do so far?
Another great review! How about, Mahindra Pikup or Ssangyong Musso? (current shapes)
Had, 2 Jeep Wranglers 2000 model.
2 Jeep Cherokees 2005/08, 1 petrol and the other diesel. Around 2013, went to Essendon Jeep for service parts. That place was packed. 2 years later, closed. Felt sorry for all the people that worked there.
The only Jeep I want now, is the original.
Had an 01 Cherokee and a 06 Wrangler, both with the 4.0 motor, never went off roading, but loved them as a daily driver, high up and easy to park.
Can u do a mihindra 4x4 twin cab ute used review thank
That Michael Jackson comment had me in stitches XD!
I bought a brand new Wrangler and I can most definitely say it's a horrible idea t buy a used Wrangler .... I have the short-based Manuel-Trans Wrangler and its a whole lotta fun...But the reliability + Price point is NOT
Not Michael Jackson catching strays 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yup I own one, the 09 3.8ltr. Did my research on reliability and found that it is the 3.6 with issues, not sure what year models though, perhaps the earlier ones, but what happens is the roller bearings in the valve rockers begin to fail ie a loud tapping sounds from the engine like a loose tappet and then if left untreated the engine disintegrates.
