i keep seeing you on ffxiv videos, looks like someone's interested in critically acclaimed MMO Final Fantasy 14 that now has a free trial that goes to level 60 and includes the first expansion, Heavensward.
ah puppets bunker as a bard. you interrupt A, your dancer interrupts B, but your tank forgets it has an interrupt skill. then you just cleanse yourself and let the medics sort out the rest
It hurt how true this is as a bard. My basic move is to hit first target with dots, hit all three mechs with dots, then interrupt and focus on the last one I targeted with aoe spam. It got so bad I often just precast Warden's now.
Bard is like summoner for me, it can get overwhelming when everything is up at the same time, but once you get into the flow it moves smoothly and is really fun.
I’m coming from WoW and I was a frost mage main. Bard is awesome. Bard is like frost mage on steroids. Here is why: It’s dynamic play depends completely on the situation and your procs. Which means it’s less focused on a rotation and more focused on decision making. To me this style of gameplay is much more enticing and differentiates a bad player from a good player.
@@Mduffy-yo6rb ffxiv is my first mmo and bard was my first job and I like how the “rotation” is moreso a stance change where each song phase is distinct and has you keep track of different things. I feel like part of the job’s design is pretty clunky though, so i hope it gets to be a little cleaner in endwalker, while still keeping some of the hectic feel it already has.
Was also expecting many funnies and the usual “pfft you main bard, you’re an idiot” but this has become the most helpful thing!! Finally a man of culture.
Holy shit just discovered your vids today, you totally kill these guides harder than I kill myself by backflipping in this game. Keep doin you, dude, you're makin good shit :D
I got my mom to play ffxiv with me a couple months ago, and I suggested she played Bard because it was the dps I started as so I could help her the most with it. I didn't realize she hadn't read any of the tool tips though, so she thought if she used all the songs at once, their buffs would stack LMAO I think I broke her heart when I told her they dont
7:12 I’ve been playing Bard since I joined the game at the beginning of Stormblood and I’m just now learning that Empyreal Arrow gives a Repertoire stack. Also yeah, tooltips suck. The Apex Arrow tooltip was super misleading at the beginning of Shadowbringers and made it seem like it does way more damage than it actually does
Bard has been my main since I started playing and at level 80 I think it's still the class I have the most fun playing. But being level synced really sucks for bard since all of its procs are based on the DoTs critting. The difference in proc rate between level 50 and even level 70 is insane and makes the class feel almost not functional at lower levels
I legitimately hate playing Bard without Iron Jaws now more so than the Emperyal Arrow guaranteed proc. Having to manually refresh both dots should feel like a mistake I make, not something I'm forced to do.
Step 1: hit something with windbite Step 2: use mages ballad Step 3: use rain of death Step 4: hit a few other things with windbite Step 5: laugh at all the single-target DPS when Rain of Death resets its cooldown 5 times in a row and you melt everything Step 6: repeat the process and cry when Rain of Death only resets once during the entire song duration
Small correction, Mage's Ballad is best for mob packs since it procs an aoe attack, then Army's Paeon, then Wanderer's Minuet. I only say that because Wanderer's Minuet only generates a single target attack, which is useful for single targets, but not as useful for mob packs.
It's also a pretty helpful AI dungeon class since you can get your AI to focus on a single enemy, then dot other enemies which makes Rain of Death become death of a thousand cuts.
I would advise to not use bard in dungeons because no matter how you cycle for mob packs, your songs are going to be out of order once you reach the boss. I've rarely seen a dungeon run where I was able to use my proper opening.
When I first saw misshapen chair's videos, his anime waifu game reviews, his references; I saw a top-tier shit-poster. But when I saw what presumably-I deeply hope so-(yeah I just used an 'em' dash) the man himself playing old entertainer piano music with a nekopara t-shirt: I knew he was LIVING the shit-post life. As a BRD main, my favourite hobby is being choked by the jacked burly hands of my kink-positive dominatrix named "RISK" while I let my DoTs disappear just as I hit Ironjaws and pray the server tick registered the button press. No safeword baby.
Always been a BRD main. I came in here half expecting jokes about how it's so easy, and was pleasantly surprised. You go over almost everything I could ask for in a BRD guide. You even covered the advanced stuff that I still have issues working on while doing my savage runs, so I can say i'm pretty happy with how you did the guide. As for the fun aspect, it's likely because BRD has a lot of what feels like busywork in it's combos, and no rotation ever really plays out the exact same. Even though we spam filler GCDs like no tomorrow, BRD doesn't ever feel like it's rotation is stagnant for lack of a better term, at least to me. There are a lot of nuanced moments that make BRD tougher to optimize in some aspects (Most of the ones I can think of involve Apex Arrow of all things), but are marginal enough that I wouldn't tell a newer BRD player to worry about. Also to add to "BRD's tooltips don't tell you anything", at level 64 when you get your improved DoTs, they don't tell you that your proc rate on song's doubles. They just sneakily add it to the song tooltips.
I usually tank bunker, and just yell in alliance chat before the trash mobs that tanks interrupt the volts that give paralysis. usually tell the ranged to take care of it if they have a tank who isn't paying attention. I have to be the other 2 tank's baby sitter, both on MCH, and WAR, as it is indeed very annoying to clip GCDs are cancel spells.
Bard's fun, even if it's not the most rewarding on the dps side of things. I picked it up this tier, and I'm glad I didn't play it last tier cuz I've brought it into some e8s runs and hated it cuz of the add jump timing with battle voice. But this tier's good, e11s has some fun optimizations, and e12s phase 2. For example, if you're ever in e11s, and you get the fire burnt strike first, don't be surprised if the bard doesn't knock back prevent it, despite it being fine to do that one and the one in shifting skies. That happens right in the transition between our first two songs, so we don't have a free weave slot there. An annoying bit about the tool tips for bard, if you read the tool tips on barrage, you might think that it would give that buff to apex arrow... it does not, unfortunately, although imagining a triple apex arrow where non of them crit or dhit is horrifying.
I hope Dancer lends a page to Bard so you actually play the lute (or any instrument of your choice) while in combat in Endwalker Make the transitional trait of army's paeon into a short musical interlude with a damage/mitigation component and have it apply to each song, also would be nice if you could spread your dots to enemies with Iron Jaws so you can keep up the procs without needing to reapply the dots (make the procs only tick once regardless of number of enemies and it will just be more consistant)
First off, I love your videos and sarcasm, your guides are deceptively informative. Secondly I'd love to know what gpu you're using and also your graphical settings. Your recorded gameplay is better than any other Vids I've seen
As a bard main this didn't teach me anything I didn't already know so I rate this guide 9/10 and would recommend for anyone wanting to learn bard to max level.
ok with pitch perfect... I just hit it when the sound goes off... yes full pitch perfect n apex arrow have 2 different sounds wardens is something I mostly use when a healer got paralized.... cuz paralize is one of the biggest Bs on any caster bard is fun because its can be so chaotic and because its busy
Well, the reason other DPS like lancers don't have AOE's by Sastasha is clearly because Yoshi P thinks you shouldn't attack big groups or use AOE's when fighting groups of enemies... be gentle, relaxed, take is slow, have a soothing time. Bard only has it to attain maximum spoony-ness.
guess not many place dots on all things they can and lose track of things with Mages Ballad..,(since that is excessive procs, n dots to manage just for things to melt in a short amount of time.., aka.., not exactly efficient..,)
Man I think it's just me, I have a habit that when I raging strike with my battle voice , I use iron jaw because in my mind, does it also increase my dot damage? XD
You want to use Raging Strikes before applying both of your DoTs to the target and then use Iron Jaws when Raging Strikes is about to expire, essentially extending the damage buff to your DoTs. Unfortunately BV affects everyone but you.
I don’t know why I keep watching this video for tips. I’m only a lvl 60 sprout about to start heavensward, I don’t even have half the opener abilities. But I can’t wait to not be afraid of extremes lol.

best for alexander ultimate.. i don't think its true, he mostly benefits from p1 and p2 duo target phases. It makes him shine on fflog, but p1 and p2 are phases where DPS check is the less relevant. i really prefer a MCH that can eco some ressources to nuke p3 and at the end of p3 enrage, eco again to obliterate perfect.
As a returning player I'm pretty bummed about Repelling Shot not dealing damage anymore :/ I see they've also removed the cross-class skills, so no more borrowing Lancer skills for added crit chance .

Bard main watching bard guide simply to hear about why my job is fun while I fervently nod along.
Step one: get a big hat with a big feather.
Step two: get the most ornate, glowy and oversized bow you can find.
Step three: do decent deeps.
As a Hrothgar bard: "The hat is a lie."
Step 4: Take guitar lessons
Step 5: Play guitar in-game for tips
The hat is the most important part
