    In this weeks video we meet Hilde and Michel, an intrepid couple who have constructed a stunning DIY tiny house on wheels in order to help facilitate a life of travel and adventure.
    After meeting in New Zealand as backpackers, Hilde and Michel decided they they wanted to call the South Island home. With the high cost of housing in New Zealand, this travel loving couple wanted to build something simple, affordable and most importantly, something that would allow them to continue traveling and getting out into nature.
    With no prior building experience, the couple set about learning to build their very own tiny home, and the results are stunning!
    We hope you enjoy the tour of this very special tiny house. You can follow Hilde and Michel's adventures here: / tinyhuske

    • @livingbig

      There are LOADS of tiny houses in New Zealand. Unfortunately, the cost of housing in NZ is extremely high, which forces many people to explore alternative options such as tiny houses.

    • @marthahawkinson-michau9611
      @marthahawkinson-michau9611 3 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      @@livingbig Which also explains why there aren’t nearly as many tiny houses where I live. The cost to build a “tiny house” in my city is only slightly cheaper than building a modestly sized regular house. Most people just don’t bother, and the city codes aren’t really hip to tiny houses. Yet. To be fair though, Hot Springs, Arkansas has plentiful empty land to put more houses. If the population were to double or even triple in the next decade though, I can totally see the demand for tiny houses go up. Who am I kidding? For the population to double, the city would have to invest in more infrastructure and job creation. Sigh. Politics. Politicians seem to suck universally.

We don't really use stain much over here in NZ as we much more appreciate the look of natural timber. Although there are some people about here who like to slap a stain over timber

    Bryce, I was first attracted by the Music at opening..it was like going into a Calm space...walking back in time...then Tiny Houses were a Revelation. I still look forward to the Music even after 2 years more now....😊Of course, I love Tiny House and Hubby gradually “ gets the idea” we can’t build them here in Philippines but we can downsize & still get Beautiful finishes. Downsizing for Senior citizens!

    They made pallet benches like they do in Berlin. The inside is so plain; glad they like it that way. The wood beams is one of the best features. No vent in the bathroom? 60K is fab!

    What a great tiny house, I found myself nodding through the video and commenting "what a good idea" many times. More than that, the use of timber created a wonderful warm atmosphere. I think about the only thing I'd have wanted if at all possible, would be a dropped walkway to access the bed.
