    I have a similar pair which looks exactly the same but blue with a gamagaktsu logo on it. No complaints, just eventually gonna have to change out the cutter blades.

    I’ve had the tips of the pliers buckle over sideways when I was pulling out a hook out of a big halibut I think you need to wait a month or two Of using them in order to have a good review everything works great when it’s brand new

    Great review. I've been looking for aluminum plyers for salt water for a while. You have me sold on this. I always envied how well you speak. 👍👍

      thx moo! my wife always said i talk too much and she's happy i'm finally putting it to good use lol. great pliers ... i didn't review some others cause they failed or weren't convenient, but i liked these enough for a full review. i misquoted the price too; they're only 16 shipped on Amazon Prime! not 20 like i said in the vid. good deal for the price.

    Excellent review. I almost bought this one, but ended up with another brand. Would have been nice to see a sample cutting of the braided, mono, flouro lines, and the use of the split ring tip to get a better reference in size.

      totally. i filmed some line cutting tests but the camera couldn't focus on the line up close for some reason. you'll see me cutting line with it in future vids.

    Thanks for this video Ish! I actually have these in my Amazon shopping list and have been contemplating them. Just wasn’t sure if it was cheap stuff or the real deal 😁

      they're decent! a step or two above ebrand trash, imo great value for $17, id totally buy if it wasn't comped.

    Man my Pliers stop cutting line after a month and a half I had to re-adjust the cutting blades and they’re working OK I don’t like the design but I still use him it sucks cause I still have to carry a pair of scissors with me they get a six out of 10

    Have you had a chance the test out the Piscifun Spartan yet? Curious to see how it fares.

    • @ishwithfish
      @ishwithfish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, check out my recent uploads, i put a 30-35lb ray on my 6000, big test for the drag (i almost screwed up the spool smh). bottom line, pretty impressed with it👍

  • @Drundel
    @Drundel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Have you tried to take apart the pliers to clean/lube, etc? I'm thinking the ring with the holes them secures the sides, but I haven't wanted to use a punch or something to try to open yet.

    • @ishwithfish
      @ishwithfish  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      not yet, not sure if there's a way to disassemble, the round cap seems glued 🤔

      @Drundel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ishwithfish Gotcha, thanks for the reply. I was hoping they were just screwed in with some special tool but I haven't found any details about disassemble yet.

    Can it cut a 2/0 circle hook in half?

    • @joem8875
      @joem8875 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Ask me how I know. They are chinese junk, lasted me about 3 months of hard fishing. If you spend a lot of time on the water youll need more of a pro series plier in the $150+ range

    Dude mine were great, if I could manage to not lose a pair of players every month I’m sure they would have been going strong still lol. The crimp zone is great for putting a hook in so you can winch your knots right.

    Paint or anodized?

    • @ishwithfish
      @ishwithfish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      this black model appears to be painted. i think the piscifun iv pliers are little longer and anodized.

  • @alby910

    Could you recomend a good pair

    • @ishwithfish
      @ishwithfish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i've seen deckhands use Shimano Brutus long nose pliers, but i think those are stainless and on the heavier side. no split ring or crimp jaws either. for the same price, these piscifun pliers should be durable enough for the casual angler and be a lot more versatile.

    Mine did not hold up at all. 3-4 months of hard use: The screw that keeps them together (under the black circle plate) backed off so they were all loose. I had to take off the plate to re tighten the screw. Then the cutters cracked after they essentially stopped working. The tolerances are so loose now they slide side to side all over the place. These are junk tbh - a bunch of different companies use these and slap their name on them. Booms, gamakatsu, mustad, piscifun etc. Avoid them
