I think it turned out really nice. I'm not really a big XM fan from the pictures I'm seeing generally but everyone who gets them in hand seems to love them.
I'm the biggest Psylocke fan and this isn't the perfect statue yet. At least for me. XM isn't doing a good job regarding face sculps lately with the exception of Emma Frost. Come on Sideshow, deliver us a great Psylocke! Just like you did with Jean Grey and Rogue.

I love how dynamic this piece is. The metal sword looks great where a lot look more plastic. Stand alone, not worth $900. If this is going with other X-Men statues, then it's a great statue to have.

This statue of psylocke looks so awesome especially the base it feels like she training in the danger room so cool. And the face of her is cool with the butterfly on her face
Those Danger Room tentacle things are neat. I agree with the expressions on the face. Maybe it's because she's in the Danger Room and not a real foe, but still. I like the blade. It's good that you kept it real.
I hate being 'that guy' to say it but here goes. I LOVE XM's pieces but man their prices are insane. I mean upward to a grand for a quarter scale statue. I tend to reserve those prices for 1/3 scale pieces, an extra couple hundred bucks added on give or take. All that said, they make some beautiful statues and their bases never disappoint. I'm a fan of this one but, again, given their prices I tend to be overly selective of their stuff. Those of you who are planning to get this piece, I'm happy for you. It's a nice one.

I suppose as these pieces get more complicated, the more expensive they'll be. Oh and don't get me started on shipping. That's another statue in itself! Haha! The hobby has gotten very expensive.
@@genefactor007 I’m brand new to the hobby, before this year I’d never bought a statue in my life haha, I was never interested in them at all. But that changed when I seen the Berserk statues here on Gems channel, I thought they were the coolest things I’ve ever seen, and then I got into the Manga, and now I’ve bought the 1/4 scale Skull Knight, and the 1/4 scale Berserker Armor Guts, Rage edition.

Of all the Berserk pieces Prime 1 has done, I think my favorite is the 1/3 Guts. I missed out on that one however as I focused my attention on the 1/3 Witcher that's due out next year. The details Prime 1 put into their Berserk line is insane.
Prices have skyrocketed in the last four years. The prime 1 venom was two huge boxes and weighs 60+ pounds. It cost me less than $1000 to get in-hand back in the day…shipping costs are impacting the hobby but in general, prices were going up anyway. Quality has improved across the board especially at Sideshow, so that’s always going to come with price increases. I’ll pay $700 for a statue with a great base and great paint job before ill pay $550 for a statue with a great paint job and mediocre base

I think psylocke a winner here. The color, pose, face is great. Personally I think the seal approval from anyone do not mean squat when it statue since the choice to like the item is personally preferences. It is going to be great to show her off with the sideshow psylocke.
I got this statue and it’s my favorite one in my collection so far because of how dynamic it looks. The psyblade and the butterfly are my favorite parts and I love that the sword shines. I agree with you on the portraits. Not only would they have been better if they had more expressions, but the biggest thing for me was that she doesn’t look Japanese. Even though Betsy isn’t Japanese, the body she is in is. The portrait with the ponytail looks closer to the Jim Lee drawings, but I prefer displaying her with the other portrait for the butterfly effect, which honestly they should’ve made it to where you could attach that to either portrait. Now I’m hoping statue makers will finally start making statues of the current Psylocke, Kwannon, and make statues of Betsy in her own body as who she is now, which is Captain Britain. Or at least start creating statues of Betsy in some of her many other costumes from the past.
Great looking piece! Love the ponytail headsculpt. Only downside is she's overscaled. She makes my SS Colossus look small. XM needs to get their scaling issues sorted out
I love the sort of shiny plastic effects on some parts of her costume, they've been doing that lately in the MCU with Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel costumes and I think it's the ideal point between tissu and leather
definitely looks better than the promo pics. I think the way you had it angled at the end with the butterfly portrait looks the best, but would have loved to seen a more intense "Jim Lee inspired" portrait. I like the energy they have in the base, maybe could have had a bluish hue to it to get more of the danger room vibe. Either way, great review as always!
AGREED! It’s the same reason why I can’t pull the trigger on SS Nightcrawler! With no rage portraits, their phoning it in. Do they not remember X-Men do have internal rage, and it’s only the Professor that calms them down while fighting. No rage portrait…doesn’t get my loot.
There's a lot to like about this piece. It's dynamic, full of detail and I actually really like the base. I do agree that the portraits and skin tones could be a lot better though.

Yea I actually like this one, I love her pose moving forward, love statues where they’re moving out to one side, yea I like this one. But totally agree with the lifeless facial expressions, but that psionic face piece saves it.
The non butterfly headsculpt is the one for me.. The other one will probably stay in the box.. I wish they would have made it to where the butterfly could go on either head.. Still a dope piece to me overall
Great honest review Gem. I love the texture that XM does with the costumes and how dynamic the piece is but I agree the portraits are not very good and there is too much going on with the base. I have the SS Psylocke X-Force, while that has flaws also seems like the better piece if you were able to get it for retail.
She looks great, but I totally agree with you on the head sculpts, they're too similar. I think they should've done one neutral expression and one with her gritting her teeth or something like that.

I feel like XMs portraits lately have no expression and with the lack of switch outs doesn’t justify their price . Also has anyone noticed how they’ve been increasing the price ? They are almost the same for a 1/3 scale now . Pass for me on Psylocke hopefully sideshow makes a newer one!
XM makes some great pieces. The portraits didn't do it for me on this one. Agree with your Wonder Woman assessment. Excited to see their Archangel and Kyle Rayner
My initial impression of this piece was that there was something about the face that was off. It felt flat compared to the rest of the statue. I don’t own any XM pieces but their reputation has always been impeccable. This at least doesn’t look like a quality problem to me.

Gem what’s with the bandaid on your forehead? It’s like you’re covering up a slot for your psionic look 😀. Well I l personally like this psylocke, in particular the second portrait which looks a bit like the Jim Lee style. What I also like is the dynamic pose and the texturing of her costume. I wasn’t a fan of the sideshow one, she looked complacent and just “posing”. I do agree it’s a little expensive for 1/4 scale but id rather pay a little more for the statue I want vs one that I don’t. To each their own but I’m excited to receive my psylocke hopefully sometime soon!
I got this one because I missed the Sideshow one and I'm satisfied with it. I do agree that the facial expressions needed more and it seems to be a downside with XM lately with their female portraits. The upcoming Rogue statue of their also has very expressionless sculpts. Will probably be the last XM I can get because also, their bases are getting much bigger and taking up more room for what I have.
It’s a great idea to actually start rating them, because the prices on these are going way up, like a 50% increase on some of them. So actually telling people if you think they’re worth it will hopefully get these companies to up their game. Look at the first Berserker Armor Guts at $999, and the new Berserker Armor ones at $1,449. These statues are very similar but the newer ones have a 50% increase in price. I bloody love the Prime1Studios statues, but still that’s a big price increase.
She looks kind of plain. Always been my issue with her, for such a skilled character, the artwork is usually underwhelming. She's a telekinetic martial artist, there's so much that can be done there. And yes, I agree that the base looks very messy. Have you seen bases by NMK? They're a french company, and their X-Men statues are sick!

As much as I like XM, their X Men line isn’t the best, and their female portraits haven’t looked the greatest either lately - very bland or masculine.

Ooh, This is nice. The picture that came with is is amazing. I like the action pose. It's nice to look at, especially when it's spinning.

Olivia was fine.
She was extremely comic accurate in the movie so doubt it would've have made a huge difference other than a much better face sculpt.
