The base is very cool. I like the texture of the costume. The jacket works well. I think I prefer the first look you demonstrated (holding the cables).
I saw some paint bleed over the yellow and green on the body. Also the cross eye has been brought up in another unboxing. I hope XM hasn’t rushed this and they sort these issues in the next batch.
Looks well made, but I’m still preferring the SS Rogue. The entire XM X-men line is just kinda meh in terms of composition. They are all just placed in a similar standing pose on the same vague Sentinel base.
I agree. XM have not done the X-Men justice. Dark Phoenix remains their best piece. Iceman is pretty good, along with storm and cable . But too many average statues in this line or statues with small issues I.e. Cyclops, Mystique, Gambit, Omega Red.
I agree with you on the fact that they need to have two totally different switch out heads especially if they’re going to give it to you don’t want the same one
Yea I totally agree Gem, it doesn’t wow me at all, if it had a rage expression then I might have liked it more. But it does look cool up there beside all her X-Men team buddies haha.
I love those switch outs. The Wolverine/Colossus arm and the Gambit arm would definitely be what I displayed. The not setting flush with the base isn’t cool though.
Yes, XM usually has better paint and detail than SIDESHOW. However, the statues pose, portrait and price are a big deal. XM has had issue nailing those three lately. The SIDESHOW Rogue is better. I like that SIDESHOW and XM keep going back and forth in the battle of the X-Men statues. I think it is better for us as collectors because they try to top one another.
that one needs a rotating base cus the 🍑is 🔥. micro detail wise, XM is in a different league though. XM poses have always been mediocre but their details is almost always perfection. I would even choose this over SS because of the details itself.
She would look better with 2 metal arms but with ripped sleeves like in the comics. For her alternate portrait they should have showcased an additional power like Cyclop's optic blast, Psylocke's butterfly aura, or Emma's diamond skin.
No you're not trippin..this piece is inferior to the Sideshow piece in just about every way, and for about twice the price if you include shipping costs..XM are the ones trippin delivering a subpar piece for almost double the cost
I'm not crazy about the hand switch outs or the lack of expression, but overall this is a nice statue. The jacket is especially well done and I really like the difference in texture on her boots and gloves.
XM Rogue statue had a lot of potential, the original art concept had Rogue flying in this scene set up here, but XM choose to play it safe. So you are right Gem Mint that Rogue here is still missing that something special. It's a good statue, but not great. If Sideshow Rogue was sold out, I could have seen this as a completer for someone X-men collection looking to get out of collecting.

Art print gives me the same vibes as the old Sideshow Gambit and Rogue art prints that came with the Rogue Premium Format. It’s the colors and Sentinel theme.
The only reason I would get this one over the Sideshow one is the fact that both portraits at least kept Rogue's classic look. XM's is nice but Sideshow's has more expression in the portrait, the pose is better, and the overall design looks better. I just can't justify getting the Sideshow one now since her classic look was only available in the exclusive edition which sucks.
I love that they sculpted the jacket. I think that looks way better than Sideshow’s tailored jacket. I agree with your nitpicks but overall I like it. Just not at that price
Another great review! I own and love the Sideshow Rogue. It's the only statue in my collection that I bought, not because I have a deep connection to the character, but just because the statue is so darned cool. I don't have that same vibe with this XM piece.
I respect the call to not give it the seal. I think a lot of reviewers are afraid to critique an XM piece because they don't want to lose their 'street cred'. Now that the Immortalized In Stone guys are gone, there are only a couple guys that will critique an XM or a fanart with no fear. I thought the critiques you gave were fair. A lot of XM's portraits lack emotion. The price as well, shipping costs aside, which is more than the Sideshow offering, so I'd expect more on how she showcases her powers. I think it would've been awesome if instead of the Gambit charged card (which didn't look all that charged up to me if you compare it to XM's Gambit statue) and the smirking portrait, there was an angry portrait with her face and both hands in organic metal mode. Having a metal hand with bone claws doesn't make any sense. As soon as she hits something with those claws they will break when you take her strength into consideration. All that being said, this is another well-produced video Gem.
I think you lose street cred when you don't call out legitimate issues with a statue for fear of falling out with the statue producer because you made them look bad, or held them to a higher standard. I respect reviewers that keep it real whether it's good or bad.
That cross eyed portrait 😵💫 Jokes aside I thinks for the most part it’s a great piece. Portraits could be better and the switch outs are unnecessary. Best look is definitely with the cables.
Both Xm and SS have their pros and cons. I really like XM's base. I like the OG cartoon look of XM's portraits but agree they should of made the facials expressions more different. Not a fan of the danger room just me. SS exclusive portrait is cool but the regular portrait looks terrible to me doesnt look like Rogue at all. I like the flying aspect of SS. I think Im leaning more to XM with tte switch outs.
I prefer the sentinel base to the danger room base, but like you I prefer the flying in the sideshow piece. Also, I agree with you that the alternate portrait looks too similar to the first one.
I was looking at the sideshow piece and this review is what I needed. I agrees with expression for the head sculpts. This is definitely a fire detailed piece but between this one and sideshow. I give it to sideshow. Thanks for the review as always gem 💎
in an issue of X-Treme X-Men, Rogue went through a few powers within seconds, one of them was Wolverine. when she did, her hair transformed to match Wolvie's hairstyle, it would be nice to see that portrait there should have been 2 Gambit hands and 2 Wolvie/Colossus hands, so could display her using 3 powers at the same time
It's a nice looking piece and I like the 90's feel of it. But I agree there are a few things someone should take into account if looking to get, the switch out faces being too similar and not be flush on the base are the main ones for me. Be Excellent.
Rogue usually lacked expression in the cartoons, so I'm not surprised. The comic Rogue that fought the X-Men and waxed their tail has the best expression and haircut of all! Someone needs to do that Rogue. That was before she fought Ms. Marvel and stole her powers.
Yea I’m not a fan of the facial expressions, to me these are the most important, and these are just dead looks, she’s supposed to be ripping up a Sentinel, where’s the screaming expression? Look how Prime1Studios does the Guts portraits, lots of different expressions, really cool.

My girl Rogue. I went with economy snail 🐌 mail shipping from Spec Fiction. Badass statue. Only wish she had a rage portrait. Will definitely display only with both sentinel tentacles in hand and the non smirking portrait.

I’ve been put all my statues in my storage unit if I don’t have room for them boxed at my place until I’m able to purchase a house/townhouse. So I’m in no rush for delivery since I can’t display her. So it was an easy decision to go with the cheapest rate. Spec Fiction is legit. Those over seas rates are pricey. If you order anything over a quarter scale expect to pay an arm and leg in shipping.

That shipped in 2 separated boxes and was over $300+ for shipping!!!! 😭 Sideshow quarter scale/premium format shipping is normally around $40-$60.00. Only shipping that’s cheap is Hot Toys. But they’re not status. Just pose-able high end figures. I collect those too. They’re around $15.00-$25.00 from sideshow, unless you see some they are free shipping sometimes for figures that have a lot of inventory that have been on sale for awhile. Hope this information helps you out. 🙂

There's elements of this i love like the base and the arm switch outs but I much prefer the sideshow version due to to the dynamic pose and price. Both of them fall short on the portraits though. If there was some way to combine the best elements of the 2 and include a rage portrait we would probably have the best Rogue money can buy.
Hey gem, the left foot on mine doesn't sit flush either, about half a cm above the base but not visible unless you take your eyeball level with the foot. I was just gonna accept it as is, as its not really noticeable. You okay with yours?

IDK about you by my Rouge can fly and can see straight on. The sculpt is great, no doubt. However, as you said, portraits should have more variety, also it feels like there’s just too much boring base in these XM pieces.
