    I just signed off on the title for a 98 wrangler SE, i’m going to try something different for the door panel crack on mine but now I know exactly what paint to get to address the faded door panels! Super helpful video!

      Congratulations Joshua! Jeeps are an absolute blast and they'll go anywhere you want them to. They're only going up in value as well so thats always a plus. Have fun with it.

    There's a spray paint called "adhesion promoter" which is basically a clear that helps your topcoat bond to the plastic panels. Overall great job and good vid!

    Mu panels are pealing - do I need to strip them down beforehand? or just alcohol and repaint?

  • @luiso6827
    @luiso6827 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Did the paint adhere to the panel good?
    I was to change some panels I have like you did. I know you had a few touch ups you had to do after installing the passenger side which gave the impression the paint easily peels/chips off.

    • @timkitz1675
      @timkitz1675  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are a couple of chips for sure. Mostly because I was in a hurry to get it put back on and didn't have as much time to cure. For a aerosol can paint it did a great job. If you want it perfect your going to want to go to a upholstery shop. I'm not a paint professional. But there is this stuff called hardener which helps paint last longer. You would mix that in with paint then reduce it down. With out a spray gun you won't be able to do that. Plus it would be really expensive for the materials. If you use the aerosol can, worse comes to worse you can scuff it down and spray it again. Hope that helps!

    I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ with black interior and I want to change it up so I sent my seats out to reupholster with the new JL saddle leather and I think I’m going to paint my doors like this

    • @timkitz1675
      @timkitz1675  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are two different colors. One is a spice and the other it more of a tan. I should’ve gone with the spice color but the tan matched up good as well. The paint code is in the video. Forgive me I forget where in the video but it is in there. Thank you for watching!

    Next time you want to fix that door Crack, melt with solder iron and melt in the back side metal .10-.32" wire. Then fill with an epoxy or bondo.

  • @fireflyvtxr

    That was not a crack, it is a mold indentation, I think you will find it on all TJ door panels of the era

    Did you find that the SEM palomino was the better match for the lighter tan/camel interior? I've seen the SEM camel paint but heard it matches more of the spice/darker tan TJs. I have a Sahara with the tan interior and just want to revive it since it's sun faded and stained and your video is the only example of the palomino SEM paint that I've seen.

    • @timkitz1675
      @timkitz1675  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My interior is more of a spice color. The paint I used matches up fine but is more of a tan than a spice. If yours is more of a tan use the paint I used.

    • @claudetteg7815
      @claudetteg7815 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timkitz1675 I believe mine is more of a tan than a spice, but not entirely positive on that because I don't have anything to really compare it to haha. It's definitely a lighter tan in my opinion though, so I might go with the palomino paint color you used. Thanks so much!

      @@maurocamilli93 Hello! I recently did! But unfortunately I had to use the SEM camel because I had issues trying to get SEM palomino. The camel is definitely like a dark spice and darker than the sahara tan. I didn't get to test SEM palomino but it seems like the better match from photos I've seen
