Stop the hate guys, it's hard enough already to have your beloved jeep broken, let alone your 'house'. I'm sure it's really hard to keep making content when he can't travel. You want to see roadtrips and beautiful scenery, but if he's hanging around the workshop or house you still won't get the content you want. Be patient guys!
This is still good content, don't worry about people trying to control your life - get done what needs to get done. Making Jade road worthy is still part of the journey, anyone who can appreciate a Jeep can appreciate the work it takes to get em going at 100%. Keep up the good work!
Gotta love nice touches like this-- I hope when you get your Jeep back you can update us on what has been happening--- ? Feeling a little depressed without your freedom I bet!
I really liked this video, just a simple film telling a story with little dialogue or text. I don't think you can run a channel on them, but they're super fun to watch every once in a while :) I can't wait to see you three back on the road! (i'm sure you're ready for that too)
it sucks you've been having so much trouble with jade lately, but before too long you'll have a brand new jeep. little projects like the doors are fun and a nice upgrade replacing all of the door seals. keep up the work!
Doors looking good did you get new locks I have older I think cj doors on mine I tryed getting new locks but never could find the right 3 set to change them out is that why you never did yours
Por 15 is an amazing inhibitor. Did the entire tub of an old beetle with it. Side question, was that self etching primer? Bites better into bare metal.
looks good did you change your locks out I think you got the same doors I got I never could find a set of 3 that fit mine there bigger then most likely there cj doors who knows
Hasn't vlogged it yet but yes! He has keys for the doors now. Won't have to crawl through the back anymore and can open his doors like a normal person!
Jake, nice looking doors! Don't let some negative Nellies get to you. You will be back on the road soon and we, your loyal supporters, will still be here when you do.
Hey, where did you find all of the seals for the door? I cant find a kit with all of the seals in it for my doors. Like the seals between the glass and the steel with the outer seal.
Hey Jake...great job on the doors...I'm loving the color of Jade. Makes me want to paint my jeep that green. Yet my jeep is named "Baloo" from the jungle book (its a deep color blue). I've had the chance to watch some of your older videos....I just watched the one where you drop out of college to live you dream. I did the same when I was 22 to following my passion as an artist....spent 6 years traveling, living like a bohemian. Traveled to Europe and South America some of my best memories where made then....don't worry about any negative feed back from people who don't know how to live their own life. Looking forward to see you guys in southern California. Overland Bound Member #0158
I enjoy your videos and I also understand an E4 reservist needs all the help he is able to muster up in order to do what you're doing. Keep up the fundraising as best you can. Thanks, SSGT Johnson USAFSF (Ret)
i have been doing this exact same thing you are. Unfortunately the window track guides are pretty rusted so I'm having a hard time getting the new window tracks in. Don't know if you experienced this, if you did, do you have any tips?
Currently restoring my yj doors. I saw there was rust. Did you completely remove the rust or what did you do??? Did you have any more problems with the rust??? Please let me know
There are tons of jeep forums full of nice people willing to help you. Don't forget that you live in the era of the internet. If you don't know how to do something, someone else does. 99% of the time there's a youtube video.
Hi John! Sadly, Jade won't be here for the party (Jake is flying, not driving). But Annie will be here. It's gonna be a great party! Really looking forward to meeting more people in our great community!
hey Jake, working on my truck doors right now. can you use any primer over the por15 or, do you have to sand the por15 first? have you used por15 extensively..does it last long term. have a few spots where I've got it down to basically surface rust and want to treat before I prime and paint.
Alex K - Thanks for asking - Yes, I have used POR-15 many, many times. **USE GLOVES**!!! POR-15 works the best because it chemically bonds to rusted metal and forms a rock- hard, non-porous coating that won't crack, chip, or peel. It keeps moisture away from metal with a coating that is strengthened by continued exposure to moisture. First, I wire brushed all the loose rust and scale, then I sanded to a smooth finish. I removed any grease or oil using 99% alcohol and waited to dry. I then applied a good primer, let dry and lightly sanded again. Then I applied my paint and it looked great.
You're welcome - Just remember to use gloves. It won't come off your skin. Also, when opening the can of POR-15, be careful to not get any product in the lip of the can where the lid makes the seal. Clean all product out of the lip of the can or else you won't be able to re-open the can again....its that strong of a seal/bond. ***USE GLOVES*** - I learned the hard way - LOL
I need to repair my doors like this 😭😭 I need to re paint them take off the rust and what not and need to paint them Where did you get all the seals from I need to replace mine as well and well the window crank and well the whole door needs to be replaced lol
Jake- Out of curiosity, how many Buck Knives/ sheaths do you own? At 2:23 I see you sporting a black sheath while at 2:41 you have a tan sheath on your belt. Same knife, different sheaths?
There's actually a list of 15+ things Joe has been working on. Jake hasn't even vlogged about all of them. For most of us this just means we haven't gotten vlogs as often. For Jake it means his home is out of action. It has all taken longer than anticipated but the extra downtime has been well used to make other upgrades to Jade and take care of some other things too. Last drill weekend Jake was telling me all about his plans for the channel and it's gonna be amazing. So hang tight, best is yet to come!
Hi Zeke, New Mexico is planned after California and Arizona. He will be doing at least one meetup in each state. When Jake was here for drill weekend we were talking about it as I spent a lot of summer vacations in New Mexico when I was younger. It's a beautiful state!
Stop the hate guys, it's hard enough already to have your beloved jeep broken, let alone your 'house'. I'm sure it's really hard to keep making content when he can't travel. Can't wait till your back up and on the road again bud. Your doors came out great it's amazing what a little love will can accomplish. 👍😀
Glad to see you're keeping busy during Jade's down time. Video quality always going to the next level - well done!
another great video bro.
you're jeep should be done by now. no way it should have taken this long...
This is still good content, don't worry about people trying to control your life - get done what needs to get done. Making Jade road worthy is still part of the journey, anyone who can appreciate a Jeep can appreciate the work it takes to get em going at 100%. Keep up the good work!
i have been going back and re watching videos they are like a evolution of who you are now and what you are doing
What paint are you using on Jade? Perfect shade of OD green! Seemed to turn out smooth
Hey Jake are you thinking of getting some rubber flares for the wheels?
Getting any flight time on the new Mavic Pro?
Gotta love nice touches like this-- I hope when you get your Jeep back you can update us on what has been happening--- ? Feeling a little depressed without your freedom I bet!

Came out great! How long did that take? Update on Jade?
Well done Jake. I look forward to more and have enjoyed following your journey.

Glad you posted a video but ready for you to be back on the road and the consistency of videos again.
good stuff Jake. can't wait to see you on the road again.
Hey Jake, How hard were the window seals to do? I need to do just that repair...
nice video, but I still don't know how to change out the weather stripping for the windows.
looks good did you change your locks out I think you got the same doors I got I never could find a set of 3 that fit mine there bigger then most likely there cj doors who knows
Hasn't vlogged it yet but yes! He has keys for the doors now. Won't have to crawl through the back anymore and can open his doors like a normal person!
Nice! Where did you get your door panel from?
Is it hard to replace the window weather strips
the amount of camera shots and work that went into this video is insane, well done. I appreciate all the effort going into ur content.
Jake, nice looking doors! Don't let some negative Nellies get to you. You will be back on the road soon and we, your loyal supporters, will still be here when you do.
That video was beautiful in its self. Thanks for the Effort you put into your videos.
Hey, where did you find all of the seals for the door? I cant find a kit with all of the seals in it for my doors. Like the seals between the glass and the steel with the outer seal.
Wow Jake you really worked hard on those doors. Great job ! Thumbs up. .. ENJOY... THE SIMPLE LIFE
Nice work Jake! Hang in there ... you are doing great!!!

Jake, how do you learn to do all these things with your jeep?
I'm interested in getting into keeps but I have zero car/restoration experience
There are tons of jeep forums full of nice people willing to help you. Don't forget that you live in the era of the internet. If you don't know how to do something, someone else does. 99% of the time there's a youtube video.
Yea man, thanks for the reply. You've got a good point, I've got a good amount of research to do!
Where did you get the interior leather door panels i am doing this to my doors but in white and i can not find them anywhere
Doors look great! I am sure the new seals will help with the cold weather you will experience.
what color was it before you painted it olive drab
Can't wait for you to get back on the road!
Where did you get all you seals?
How about an update on Jade?
I see you doing so much with jade , but where to start😩?
In the future- don't use an inline sander for that! You should be using a random orbital sander instead. Looks great from here though.
meanwhile most body shops use air DAs
How many cans did it take for you to do your entire jeep?
Great job Jake!
REALLY can't wait for all this STUFF to be over with. looking forward to some normalcy. nice job. take care.
They look incredible man
Jake!...tis Corey where did you order all of your seals also did they come consolidated? Aka driver package/ passenger.

Hi John! Sadly, Jade won't be here for the party (Jake is flying, not driving). But Annie will be here. It's gonna be a great party! Really looking forward to meeting more people in our great community!
