One of my all time favorite Skillet songs. He is singing about His relationship with God. To those not in a relationship with God cannot understand the concept. His presence is overwhelming and its real. No one will ever understand how after 37 years I still chase after God. He is intoxicating.

Yes, it denounces drugs, but it more so states how instead of doing drugs, they turn to religion.
I find it slightly pathetic that no one on TH-cam bothered to actually listen to the lyrics past "drugs." Learn to dig deeper into the meaning of songs before going on rants about drugs.

I have to say that their best album yet is Comatose. They are by far the best band EVER. They are one of the reasons why my friend is alive. I saw them in concert last year, wish I would've known more of their songs when I went there. They are the BEST band and they're my DRUG. I can't go a day without listening to them and turning my volume up to the max.

I'm a very passionate Athiest, but I am a huge fan of Skillet's music. The thing I love most about Skillet lyrically is the fact that they are so ambiguous with their pronouns. They avoid using the actual word "God" in their music, and that therefore means that anybody could relate to their songs, I mean, personally I find that I can relate to this song through the love of anyone who has helped me through a dark time. Their love in that moment stopped me from turning to drugs for help, and love did get me to a higher place.

How does it open people's minds to new possibilities? Will this "opening up people's minds" beneficial to the people around them? Will it help other people or do you do it for your own selfish reasons? There is a reason why addictive drugs are illegal. Addiction is about taking something that is not in moderation right? Where your body becomes dependent on it and you can't seem to live without it? Can you take an addictive drug in moderation? Can you stop using it without trying hard?

Because TH-cam won't let me reply to comments, I am just going to say this. Yes, drugs may help people feel better, and some are natural, but I do not think that that is what they mean by this song. I think that Skillet is trying to say that you do not need drugs to be happy or cool and that there are better ways to actually be happy and cool without having to do drugs. I find, I know lots of people that can say this themselves, that drugs do not really make you happy or cool, but they put on a mask for you that lasts for a little while but after they wear off, you have no idea why you feel bad.
You're right. I also believe that the drugs don't help nobody. but it seems it helps to be "cool" I don't matter if I'm "cool" or not. I'm straight edge (don't drink, don't smoke & don't use drugs) and everyone says that stupid and you should try it. Yes today you try a little bit, tomorrow is a little more, and as soon as you know it, you can't live without it. I prefer to be stupid than "cool" and everyone should think the same but we can't put the right klowdgement in everybody's head.

Since this is the topic of the song, I will raise the question.. What of natural drugs like pot, marijuana and dmt?
Did God not put all life forms on earth for man?
Did he not create marijuana? Mushrooms?
The fact that these things exist in the reality that God has created, why would we not take them, especially considering their extra-ordinary affects? Mushrooms and dmt are undeniably spiritual experiences, if there is such a thing, so why wouldn't he want us to consume them in moderation?
