I think the main fantasies for most include: 1 - the perfect guy is just gonna fall right into your lap and you don't even have to try/put yourself out there. 2 - and if he does have flaws, you're just gonna melt them away because you're just so amazing like that.
Essentially: a man who’s way out of the woman’s league trying hard to chase her and treat her like a queen. All chick flicks are like this - 9 or 10 guy, hooking up with a 4 or 5 average woman at best...

Yup, it caters to the female delussion of getting the rich male model not only to chase them but to pick them over unlimited better options and commit to them who deserve the best even though they are pretty average themselves. Then you see this twenty-something y/o kid playing the role and confident character of a much older guy that takes years to develop. Guys in their 20s are still immature.
I started reading the first book and couldn't finish it cause it's just too much. It is not BDSM. It's non-concensual violence and rape, frankly. It does not fit what BDSM really is, which the number one thing with BDSM is in fact consent and making sure BOTH parties are comfortable. You don't get someone drunk, convince them to sign a contact that they can't understand fully and full take advantage of them. That's messed up. Period. It's not sexy or hot or appealing. Please PLEASE educate yourselves. I realize that this is a very late comment, but it's still VERY important.
I've finally watched this entire movie... nearly five years after it came out. I don't even know what to say except I agree with the objections I remember hearing about it. Very glad I was living in a country where these films were banned.

the book is based on a fanfiction. its not the first of its kind, and there are a million better ones, but i think it just took off bc adults have never seen this kind of plot before lol
Yea right, like a billionaire has nothing better to do than focus and pursue a woman. In real life they have their mistresses on the side or hook up with an escort.
I think that the intrigue lies within the beautiful love story but also the erotic romance. Particularly for women, Christian Grey's demeanor is ideal as he's basically every fanfic's dream.
I actually watched all 3 movies, he never inflicted any pain on her without her permission and he explained his intentions very clearly. In the end he became the submissive more and more and she became the dominant. You see as the movies go on the relationship becomes more equal, the sex play becomes more equal.
That last bit about domestic violence is far from established...men are much less likely to report domestic abuse which skews the stats, but many so-called experts will ignore that fact to push a one-sided narrative.
Ana is a college grad...so that puts her at 22...Christian turns 27 during the second book..so not so much "an older man"...and it is a love story...at least the beginning of one in the first movie/book...and the love story is epic by the third book/movie...she does not go along with it...she consents all the way...even the last episode..
The cringiest movie of all time 😂😂. I'm sure these actors were not taken seriously anymore by respectable producers. When an actor plays such a ridiculous character that it stagnates their career forever. However Robert Pattinson was able to re-invent himself after twilight. Not many people can do that
I can't stand these movies but both Dakota and Jamie are doing great in their careers. Check out Jaime Dornan's movies after this. He has 2 hit series on BBC and the movie Belfast which got an Oscar,
This lady only touched very remotely.. I think it's the beauty and the beast story where the beauty is trying to tame the beast.. he lured her in every possible way to touch women's heart: handsome, high status, dominant, exciting, mysterious, unexpected, pushing and pulling...he is driving her crazy and succeeds to torture her in a big way, but she cannot conquer his darkness despite putting herself so low for his love. That's the sad story of modern western woman who follows her heart (read, her low desires): pump it and dump it - in womanese it's dubbed "love".
I find it so crazy that women Continuously complain about men being toxic when it comes to a rich man abusing a woman because you can very well see in the film They don't even see the problem with it That shows a lot about women
It’s clear she has not read the books. The psychology is about childhood trauma and learning how to heal from that in unexpected ways. He introduces her to sex she didn’t know she wanted. Notice how he constantly asks “are you ok? was that ok? How does that feel? Did that hurt?” Her love shows him that he is worthy of love in a way no one else could, and therefore he is open to learning the “Hearts and flowers.” This story is about healing, not abuse.

Young men - don't be a nice guy, as women are lying when they tell you this is what they want - they hate boring, love drama.

Inflicting pain on someone for your own pleasure is demonic.
