I listened to it last night and first off was like woah this doesn’t even sound like them, then I continued to be blown away. Very impressive song, my favourite so far. I’ve seen them live in Sydney by the way, was a great concert.
The album is supposed to be very emotional and dark according to their interviews. It's definitely going to have a lot of aggressive sections but not many calm. Again this is all from the "Alien interview" videos on Northlane's TH-cam channel

This is a really good analysis of the style of this song. I am a huge Northlane fan and am interested to see how the album sounds. I anticipate other songs in the album will be more instrumentally involved but you’re right this track was seemingly centered around Marcus. Idk the story but I believe this is something he went through earlier in life.

Their drummer is what sets them apart for me. He has an odd style that is catchy. Not so much on this track, but overall.
Nic Pettersen is highly creative, and faaaairly skilled too, one of the better drummers in this genre for sure.
