I always find it more fun to watch the pilots POV than the gunner POV when it comes to choppers. You tend to hear a lot more comms and its just a cool perspective to see them flying.
i actually know how to do this! i dont use trackIR, but i do use a face tracker called opentrack, and it can convert my head movements into mouse movements. make sure that with whatever software you use, your mouse emulation is set to "directinput" and NOT "legacy". now from there, you can go in squad, and go to the helicopter axis binds. theres a small tickbox that says something like "freelook always on", and you turn it on. in short, mouse freelook is always on, and your trackIR is controlling the mouse, so wherever you look, the mouse follows, and in turn, your pilot's view follows. i hope this helps, feel free to ask if you need more help with it!
Damn, that turn brake at min 6.33, pure skill. I am learning to fly one in squad so I know it takes practice. It's harder than warthunder 4 example, when you brake you can easily crash at low alty in squad.
Squad flight model is the worst thing I've ever experienced. It used to be doable for me but after the V2 change I just lost it, stopped flying in what's otherwise a great game.

I agree. It got worse with V2. It is both unrealistic and unforgiving. The worst of both worlds. Rising Storm did this far better (and with a better damage model too) in UE3.
I recommend trying DCS since you have hotas and trackIR . i dont know if you know about DCS but its a high detail Combat flight simulator where there are high fidelity aircraft and low fidelity aircraft. Low fidelity aircraft means that the buttons in the cockpit dont work but its much easier to learn. you have to have shortcuts on the hotas. high fidelity aircraft means all the small buttons in the cockpit work while its much cooler its also much harder to learn as it is one of the closest to true life aircraft simulators.
The thing is even tho the flying experience is wayy better in DCS, flying in a game like squad where you are transporting actual players and supplies for those players just gives a sense of purpose which I often miss in DCS.

The closest thing you could get that bridges the two is playing Arma 3 and getting a good functional cockpit aircraft mod, as well as having a server to play on..whoever makes a game with the fidelity and realism of Arma 3 and DCS, with the ease of use of squad (don't get me wrong squad is realism too) would be a millionaire in no time
@@ReaperPLUR The problem is that developing an actual game with in-depth mechanics comparable to something like DCS would be quite expensive. The only ones capable of allocating that amount of resources are the big Tripple A companies who have long ago realized that developing games with dumbed-down mechanics will have a larger reach and thus be much more profitable than these niche games with large learning curves. But maybe with the recent rise in popularity of militray sims, the audience will hopefully reach a point where developing a game like you talked about would be worth someone's time.
Not DCS but rather IL2-Sturmovik. WW2 setting is way better to unlock the potential of TrackIR. But if you have RTX3070 or better then buy HP Reverb G2 VR for extreme immersion!

@@skull6740 absolutely true. 13 year Helicopter Pilot here. At the higher ends of your speed ranges, your TR loses its authority over the wind stream against your tail itself. the faster you fly, the less authority the TR has and relies on pitch and roll to assist it in yaw authority.
same thing i said, id like to know which HOTAS he is using, only 2 or 3 of them have a single USB Input. if you use one that has multiple inputs, it causes axis conflicts.
how did you get HOTAS to work? my X-56 refuses to utilize the throttle as it assigns the AXIS 1 ( as the throttle ) but AXIS 1 is already occupied as Stick Pitch. so it causes them to conflict. I eventually had to force the throttle to use the rotary dial on my thumb as the collective axis, but that is janky as fuck!

Yeah man. Squad flight model is fuuuuuckin weird. Even RS2 does way better, and that's using an older engine of unreal. For example. flying in high alpha turns is somehow faster than flying straight, so it's almost like air strafing from CSGO to go faster.

How did you get the joystick and throttle to work together? for me the stick and throttle are both X and Y inputs and they interfere with each other when playing
How are you able to place multiple observe marks so quickly? I can only place one every second or so. Also how can you see your marks in game? I can only see them on the map and on the compass indicator. Did OWI change how map markers work?
@@lonewolfgaming584 No, figured it out. OWI has restricted it with rate limits. So you will only see this on videos that was recorded in a previous patch of the game.

I drink diet Pepsi and the Track IR sees the can cause it's a reflective silver color and goes fucking nuts while flying in ARMA and other games. It has actually gotten me killed before, the cost of nourishment.

i didnt used to like v2 but i find it really enjoyable once i've learned it. its not very realistic but i think its fun.

The flightmodel is still ass, it doesn't properly bind axis on extra joysticks and pedals.

How do you control your thrust? At my joystick it goes only 0 or 100

I believe you need to decrease the sensitivity for the throttle axis. It is different from hotas to hotas

Basically u bind the one order to a button and then u can press it really fast

You should be able to free look and fly in the first place! Sucks you have to install a mod for that

Flight model in this game is absolute trash. HOTAS is better reserved for DCS.
