Don't bulk-buy sponges! You can get eco-friendly reusable sponges that can be washed in the laundry and last for months. I use a brand called 'None Sponge' - they come in cute patterns too!!
I just have a large system of rags and little rag and laundry baskets throughout the house. I honestly haven't bought tissues, paper towels, or sponges in years. Having in-building laundry helps.
Cherry Tung - The Frugal Designer Handbag Lover are you burnt out due to your week or due to trying to do so much in the weekend? I get burnt before the weekend and all I want to do is chill out. I remind myself to nourish myself first and what does that look like. I say no to a lot for the weekend if I feel that it doesn’t nourish me, and maybe if you are not physically motivated, taking time in the weekend to visualize what u want and what needs change IS doing something. I have come to the conclusion that cleaning, meal prep, laundry, and bigger handyperson tasks waste my time mentally, I do not enjoy them and I get stressed out trying to DO IT ALL. I recommend just chilling out until you find a system or series of supportive solutions so you take back your weekend for YOU. I order meal kits, I have a cleaning person come every 2 weeks for the overall bigger cleaning, I have a guy I can call to fix or set up my ikea stuff and drop off laundry to my neighbor with my soap etc and pay her to help. Makeup brushes actually don't need to get thrown out. They can be used for years as long as you care for them and they are quality brushes that don't shed. Beauty sponges should be thrown out every 4-6 months depending on the quality of the sponge and how often you use/clean them.

Wait, WHY DO YOU THROW OUT YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES EVERY FEW MONTHS? You can use those for literal years if you clean them properly, I've had some of my brushes for 4-5 years and they're still as good as new and I've never gotten an infection nor have I ever broken out from using them, and I would be pretty mad if they didn't last that long because I paid good money for them. There is no need to throw out perfectly good makeup brushes.

I love that Mona joined you for this episode. The first TFD video I ever watched a couple of years ago had Mona popping in and out of the screen, and I thought it was so adorable. Honestly, the dog is what hooked me into looking into more of these fantastic educational videos. Washing personal makeup brushes once every week or two is find depending on how often you wear makeup and what your skin is like. However, as far as I'm aware, it unnecessary to throw them out every few months. A good deep clean with antibacterial soap is enough. Correct me if I'm wrong though...
Definitely don’t throw away your makeup brushes. Just take good care of them and keep them clean! I have a few makeup brushes that I’ve had literally 10+ years. And most of them were inexpensive! Unless they’re falling apart in which case fine replace them.
Omg I literally laughed out loud at the part about staying in pajamas because I admit to looking forward to becoming “my most disgusting realized self” when I’m home alone hahaha!

I love, love, love your videos of this style. Bad weather, chronic pain that need distraction from, got me to a minimalism declutter wave. I get a kick out of these kinds of videos 😍 thanks! Feel free to post a clean or declutter with me or demos...
I always do my meal planning/ write my grocery list over the weekend so I know what I’m cooking during the week and can look forward to it 😊 I could stand to clear out the fridge and bulletin board more often. I to tend to add more to my big todo list- my issue lies in checking things off the big list as opposed to the small daily todo lists 😅
Thank you Chelsea. I have (had) 4 days of and was sitting here thinking what to do when I have so much I want to do. And by following your list, it feels manageable. Although I did sit to read a little yesterday, and spent the day reading. I finished the book. Lol.

I totally get the thinking behind the to-do list for Monday but I'd make one suggestion that would help to put a firmer boundary between workdays and weekends - make your Monday list last thing on a Friday, then you know you can fully switch off and when you come back to your desk on Monday, you know what you need to tackle first. Checking emails on a weekend is a huge no for me, unless there is a specific pre-agreed reason for doing so such as an event or work-related crisis. Better to put it out of your mind and have those two days completely to yourself.
I rent a small flat in the UK and move every couple of months for my job so never got into home decorating. I don't have much stuff, but use weekends for cleaning and sort out my work papers, petrol receipts and other bills etc
Hey I justt wanted to say thank you. Because of your videos I finally feel the confidence to move out from home, even though I'm not having too much money as an university student!
I am an avid reader, this whole year I challenged myself to not buy any books and only read ones I already own! There are plenty haha. Working out well!

I feel hella triggered in a parental way, which is...fine lol. aside from that, it's as though y'all are reading my mind and have provided me this video as comfort and guidance. I might cry I'm so grateful 😭🙌🏽
Loved this! I do about half of this already to make life as a writer/teacher/20 something easier but cleaning my coffee pot and going through my books...well I guess I should get to that.
Sponges bought, sheet mask on. I didn't get the point about throwing out brushes - mine are from Ecotools and Real Techniques, I've had them for several years and they work great. Otherwise awesome video!
Wow these suggestions are awesome and so thoughtful! I love the suggestion to schedule that house repair... My bathtub has needed caulking for way too long.
Hi! I love working on spreadsheets that my friends call me "Spreadsheet Girl!" It's so helpful in many ways and I feel more at peace seeing (knowing) that everything that I plan for, including my short-term and long-term goals, is in order. I can see them properly, I can color code them, and I can modify them if needed. :)
I'm proud of myself for having something of a "weekend" routine. I'm off Thursdays and Fridays. On Thursdays, I'll pay my weekly car note and go shopping. If I'm feeling extra energetic, I'll also cook for the week. If not, I save that for Friday. I don't have the funds to cook for weeks in advance, but I do cook to last at least three to four days out of my upcoming workweek. My brother and I, who room together, finally tackled some needed cleaning last weekend as well. Sadly, it was mainly because his girlfriend was staying over, to which she never would've stepped a foot in the house to begin with without us cleaning first had he given advanced notice (which he never does, unlike me) but he seems to not care about showing the before and after of our house. Thankfully, nothing is pure awful and maybe I'm a stickler...but I don't like inviting company over, especially company that will be staying for days, and the house isn't clean. It feels inconsiderate to the guest that as they're settling in, we're apologizing for the mess.
Great tips👍🏼 I do some of these already and I’m going to implement the rest soon into my weekend routine! Thanks for sharing this awesome video with us❤️
You may want to check your coffee maker manual before you use vinegar to clean it. Vinegar may damage some components. Take a few minutes to check the manufacturer instructions first! :-)
you may want to watch the video and count the number of times you use the word "actual or actually". It will help you to eliminate the word from your vocabulary since it should only be used when it is "actually" necessary. Millennials tend to over use phrases! :) this is feedback given to help and to not be nit picky or critical. I was given this feedback years ago and became aware of how I overused certain words and used them out of context. Excellent video by the way (to give you the positive feedback) and very useful tips.
If anyone like The Financial Diet is tired of buying sponges or finding them stinking, i use a silicone scrubber. Works just as well as a sponge but you can toss it in the dishwasher or boil it in water to clean it and make it safe to use again!!
I started watching this video thinking "nice I'm going to be so productive this weekend". Took halfway through the video to remember I work 7 days a week.
Chelsea, can you please do a video on the investment vs cons of lasik eye surgery? I've been wanting to get it for 10 years but it's still scary and expensive...I feel like if you've looked into it and decided no it's probably for a really good reason. Thanks!
Feeling really called out about starting that new netflix show thing xD my bad habit really is just rewatching old shows while telling myself to watch new ones qq
Ten minute tips: 1. Look up your last eye appointment, and if it has been more than 11 months, make an appointment with your eye doctor. If you don't wear corrective lenses and you are between 18-40, you can make that 23 months. 2. Wash your glasses and sunglasses. Not just the lenses. Warm soap and water. Check the screws and nose pads, and the nylon strips if you have "wireless" rims. If you use a chain, soak it, then wash with soap and water with your fingers, and rinse. If you use a glasses strap when running or exercising, or if you use an eye mask, throw it in the laundry. If you use a case, wipe it off/out and vacuum the velour; or make a note to replace the case and/or order one online. 3. Contacts: sterilize your case, inside and out. Order replacement case (order four. The American Optometric Association recommends replacing your lens storage case at least every three months). 4. Check the expiration date on all your eye products. Rule of thumb: discard mascara and eyeliner two to four months after first opened, eye make up after one year, and all eye products (makeup, drops, contact solutions, cleansers, etc) after any eye infection. Clean and disinfect your eyelash curler. 5. Ten minutes: call your dentist and schedule your next three cleanings. If you don't take good care of your teeth, schedule five: a cleaning every three months for the next year. Schedule your spouse's. Schedule your kids. Calendar. If you know you or your family have other dental needs, get them scheduled. There is no reason to be futzing with this more than once a year. You know you need to go, schedule the whole year. While you are at it, make a note on your calendar to do this again, same time next year. 6. Call your GP. Schedule your wellness checkup for this year. For next year. Schedule your pap smear. Schedule your mammogram. If you visit more than once a year for tests, schedule all required visits for the next year. Schedule your spouse if you do that. 7. Check your own vaccinations: when was the last time you had a tetanus shot? Do you need a flu shot? Did your parents make sure you (male or female) were vaccinated for HPV(Gardisil 9)? You can be vaccinated at any time before you are exposed to the virus, so don't ignore it just because you are in your thirties. Were you vaccinated for chicken pox? If you had chicken pox as a kid, have you considered the shingles vaccine? 8. Call the pediatrician and schedule wellness visits for all kids for the next year. Schedule those damn vaccinations! Schedule summer sports checkups. Again, you know they're happening, you know they're mandatory, and there is NO reason to open your calendar six times and make six calls, when one call will do. Get them on your calendar so you don't accidentally overschedule. 9. Make a standing weekly/monthly/quarterly appointment with your: hairdresser, colorist, manicurist, pedicurist, masseuse, acupuncturist, chiropractor, podiatrist, coach, therapist, trainer, bookkeeper, accountant, tax preparer, maid service lawn care provider, Christmas decorator, whatever. Schedule for a year out, or if seasonal, for the entire season. 10. Order your holiday cards (yes, it's time). While you're there, order a large box of birthday cards, a huge box of thank you notes, a smaller box of sympathy cards, and some nice, appropriate stamps. When they arrive, sit down for an hour, return address and stamp all the envelopes. Sign cards for all the birthdays on your list for the year and stuff the cards (don't address, people move).
1. pick one home project that you've been putting off. Pick a date on your calendar, get supplies and plan day around project. 2. inventory all cleaning/day-to-day household things you're running low on and buy in bulk online. 3. empty medicine cabinet, wipe down shelves, throw away empty and expired items and note what needs to be replaced. 4. go through passwords and use a password organizing or protective app; make sure you're using solid passwords and not the same password for everything. 5. go through bank statement and highlight recurring fees and subscriptions and decide whether you need/use them and get rid of what you don't use. 6. sign up for Trim that will go through memberships and remove what is not being used. 7. change out of your pajamas 8. give yourself a manicure or face mask. 9. take 5 books off of shelves that you haven't read or never will read 10. pick up one book and give it 10 minutes 11. clear off all junk on fridge or bulletin board; expired coupons, old business cards, etc. 12. throw out all expired condiments on fridge door. 13. wipe down all surfaces in bathroom and give toilet bowl a quick brushing. 14. give all of your make up brushes a good wash and throw out old ones. 15. create 3 meals to make for upcoming week and make a grocery list. 16. give coffee maker a good clean with white vinegar. 17. do some deep stretches for 10 minutes on yoga mat or towel on floor. 18. spend 10 minutes writing out Monday to-do list. Take a few moments to check e-mail and calendar to assist with list. 19. journal for 10 minutes to be aware of and present in your own life. 20. clean out your desk and desk drawers. and BONUS 21. check out www.creditrepair.com
If you're cleaning your make-up brushes thoroughly and properly you shouldn't have to throw them out. That's horrid on the environment and not great fiscally either.
1. Think of one home project youve been puting off 2. Put in an order for household needs 3. Clean out your medicine cabinet 4. Go through all your passwords 5. Go through all your statements 6. Throw out expired condiments 13. Wipe down bathroom surfaces 14. Wash your makeup brushes 15. Meal prep 16. Clean your coffee maker 17. Stretch 18. Make a Monday to do list 19. Sounds more like I've got a plan for the next 20 weekends. Correction: need to factor in procrastination. Hopefully, I'll be done with this list by January.
my weekend tasks include housework, laundry, mending said laundry. and by housework,I mean the deep cleaning, scrub the walls, throw old junk out type clean
Totally disagree about the pjs. I get plenty done around the house. If I need to go out, then I take the time to change. But being comfortable does not equal unproductive.
For me, PJs equal bed. Bed equal sleep. Therefore. PJs=sleep. I have issues around insomnia. I don't want my body to get the idea that PJs equal housecleaning or special projects. I have weekend clothes that equal physical projects and weekend clothes that equal desk projects (not that I ever thought of them in that specific way until today).

Hey
I justt wanted to say thank you. Because of your videos I finally feel the confidence to move out from home, even though I'm not having too much money as an university student!
What an exciting time of life lila!! Enjoy every moment!
@@stacywatkins8780 thanks 🖤 just got the apartment yayyyy 🙈
I am an avid reader, this whole year I challenged myself to not buy any books and only read ones I already own! There are plenty haha. Working out well!
Hi Chelsea, great content as always.
I would love to see a video on tipping etiquette (for cabs and restaurants) and financial responsibility.

"I love being disgusting, so joke's on you" LOL
seriously like I can't tell you how much I needed this video right now
Loved this! I totally work in 10 minute chunks of time so I can see myself using a lot of these! Thank you!
Your home is decorated beautifully!
Loved this one so much. Chelsea's sass makes me laugh. It would be cool to see the whole video labelled self care instead of just the beauty things!
0:15 I can't really see what the weather is like where you are, but I'll take your word for it.
3:31 I already use Bitwarden.
Haha same. I'm the one they throw stuff to at work... cascading drop downs are life.
Omg at my old job my coworker friends called me the spreadsheet queen!! Haha
Video starts at 2:05. You're welcome.
I am here for Mona
Aren't we all though?
Grumpy Cat haha!💜
Does anyone know Mona’s breed? She’s beautiful!
Great, comprehensive list that I think we could all glean a few ideas from!
Also I realllllly should stretch.
Your tips are useful, but for god sake straight to the point!
I wash my sponge after using it and then I add it to dishwater with my pre-washed dishes. Now they are more clean and last much longer.
I think this is actually my fav video you’ve posted. Kuddos *still watching*
HAHAHA "Well, I love being disgusting, so joke's on you." Your suggestion to clean dirty makeup brushes really resonated.
Really loved the ten minute read idea! 💕 Your videos are amazing, fun and educational x
Great tips👍🏼 I do some of these already and I’m going to implement the rest soon into my weekend routine!
Thanks for sharing this awesome video with us❤️
I think these tips will help with my Sunday depression.
Thanks, I needed this. Good reminders
Thanks for the cleaning list. This video would make a great checklist too 👍
You may want to check your coffee maker manual before you use vinegar to clean it.
Thanks for this! Our Monday is a holiday and I totally need a list (I was just thinking of working on the weekends ^^;).
If anyone like The Financial Diet is tired of buying sponges or finding them stinking, i use a silicone scrubber. Works just as well as a sponge but you can toss it in the dishwasher or boil it in water to clean it and make it safe to use again!!
love the vid!! ps. where is the excel sheet😅
LOL. We all need *some* stability in our lives. Maybe this is yours. 😎
Hysterical sponge comments! Thanks for a great laugh to start my Saturday off.
All good tips aside, you look so good here! Your eyes are like sparkling :) I just really felt like it had to be said :)
Aww I wish I had this for the weekend, but oh well there will be always another weekend to do stuff
How did you know my hoisin sauce was expired?!? It's exactly the thing I thought of when you said to check the condiments!
Ten minute tips:
Love your hair in this video. The tips were great too lol!
1. pick one home project that you've been putting off.
7. change out of your pajamas
8. give yourself a manicure or face mask.
9. take 5 books off of shelves that you haven't read or never will read
10. pick up one book and give it 10 minutes
11. clear off all junk on fridge or bulletin board; expired coupons, old business cards, etc.
12. throw out all expired condiments on fridge door.
13. wipe down all surfaces in bathroom and give toilet bowl a quick brushing.
14. give all of your make up brushes a good wash and throw out old ones.
15. create 3 meals to make for upcoming week and make a grocery list.
16. give coffee maker a good clean with white vinegar.
17. do some deep stretches for 10 minutes on yoga mat or towel on floor.
18. spend 10 minutes writing out Monday to-do list. Take a few moments to check e-mail and calendar to assist with list.
19. journal for 10 minutes to be aware of and present in your own life.
20. clean out your desk and desk drawers. and BONUS
21. check out www.creditrepair.com
This is terrific advice. Thank you!!
Loving that cleaning excel sheet!!
If you're cleaning your make-up brushes thoroughly and properly you shouldn't have to throw them out. That's horrid on the environment and not great fiscally either.
It would be awesome to have this in PDF form! :D
Go ahead and type it up!
1. Think of one home project youve been puting off
2. Put in an order for household needs
3. Clean out your medicine cabinet
4. Go through all your passwords
5. Go through all your statements
6. Sign up for a subscription monitoring app
7. Change out of your pajamas
8. Self care
9. Clean out your bookshelf
10. Read a book for 10 minutes
11. Clear off your fridge/bulletin board
12. Throw out expired condiments
13. Wipe down bathroom surfaces
14. Wash your makeup brushes
15. Meal prep
16. Clean your coffee maker
17. Stretch
18. Make a Monday to do list
19. Journal for 10 minutes

A cleaning excel sheet during my weekends sounds like my actual darkest nightmares...
Can you do an episode recommending an app for organizing your money for couples. For example Mint is good for a single person but awful for couples who have unified finances.
✨PLEASE! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 ✨
I have a shared laundry room in my building and if I'm in my pjs I don't do laundry. Huge productivity killer.
Sounds more like I've got a plan for the next 20 weekends. Correction: need to factor in procrastination. Hopefully, I'll be done with this list by January.
This is really useful! Thanks for sharing.
🌟
my weekend tasks include housework, laundry, mending said laundry. and by housework,I mean the deep cleaning, scrub the walls, throw old junk out type clean
All my bad weekend habits are called out 🙀 😂😂 I will try to do better hahaha
I've cleaned my very blurry living room windows, and each single blade of my blinds too, _You Made Me Do This_!
Creeped out by old kitchen sponges, but deals with disgusting make-up brushes that touch you face?🤷🏼♂️. Love your channel!
I love your sweater! Where is it from?
I’m sad to find this video Sunday evening ((( well ... at least I made my stretch exercise 🙏🏻
Good food, good rest, good laugh, good entertainment, good outing.
Start from 2:00
Totally disagree about the pjs. I get plenty done around the house. If I need to go out, then I take the time to change. But being comfortable does not equal unproductive.
True!
She is right though, almost everyone is more productive in non-PJ attire
That’s me. I watch the reruns on Netflix, on demand etc. before the new shows 😂
I’m so hooked on your channel lol
Holy shit you throw out your makeup brushes every few months?? If you just buy good ones they can last forever. Just clean them!
I love your channel so much and have for many many months now. You have some incredibly helpful and good advice. So here I am, offering you a small snippet. Have you ever considered being more sustainable in your life style? I know that it throws a spammer in the works, but many of your tips include incredibly wasteful behaviour. Our planet is dying, please do not forget. Small changes make a world of difference.
I’ve literally been using one of my makeup brushes for 15 years. And I got it from my mom who had it for a couple years before that. Was I supposed to throw it out? Yikes!
MessinInTheMoss No, as long as you clean it well, it’ll be fine.
You didn't add the link for the spreadsheet, unless I'm very blind, which is quite possible.
It's there now 😊
