I have a local friendly rival called Coastal wall ties and repointing. He has developed a wall tie locator as you can’t buy them anymore. It has a lithium battery I believe and has multi function settings for led with or without sound and a vibration setting, sort of like a small paddle. Cased in rubber and is shock proof and waterproof. It is by far the most excellent purchase I have made, I have let him know I’ll post a demo video of the VA2 locator soon. It has pin point accuracy. Made my life a lot easier
i have been doing wall tie replacement since 1986 and i don't carry out any wall tie replacement to any face brick properties because if the joints are very small you cant isolate the existing wall ties properly
I got mine from tool station or screw fix I go through 3 or 4 a year
Keep up the good work

What foam do you use to surround the corroded ties?
I use any foam which is IP rated so anything that is water resistant or fire resistant
Would isolating the ties with foam cause any issues with bridging the cavity? I'm presuming it's done to arrest any further corrosion? Thanks
@@josefhealan712 no because the foam can’t possibly reach the inner skin.
It doesn’t expand that far horizontally like insulation would.

I know the situations you mean.
In that situation I just remove the brick and either drill the tie out or bend it downward
