Way back when new games were so hard to come by. We didn't have the internet, so if we wanted to do any gaming.. our options were limited to the few games we had in our home collection. So we worked very hard on the few that we had. This one was in my collection as a kid. So many frustrating yet blissful memories of space harrier.
Jeez this makes me miss my Master System... had it almost my whole life! It worked perfectly up until about two years ago when my niece dropped her soda on it. So much for them spill-proof sippy cups...
I see what you did with the Tron cycles there in level 3, Space Harrier 3D! I have pleasant memories playing this one on an emulator while snowed in inside of my dorm building while I was in art school.

so why is space harrier on the megadrive called space harrier II , when clearly this is the second one ? (i grew up believing that space harrier 3D was just a 3D version of the original - if i had of known it was a sequel , i would have bought it.)
referral madness I'm aware of that, but that's not an excuse for bad music porting. The SMS was still capable of awesome music, even if its sound hardware is weak.
+HarmoDevil I thought the music was pretty cool when the game came out. I had both NES and SMS and used to listen to the soundtrack on this. Just sayin'....
Darrel McNeal I personally think the compositions are okay, while the sound programming is terrible (inconistent tempos, weird noise drums). However, the original Space Harrier on SMS has good music.

It is one of eight SMS 3-D games, and one of the more fun games, YET not the best at showcasing the 3-D glasses potential, unlike what i expected.

Exactly! i'm currently playing Sonic The Hedgehog on a Fusion emulator (Genesis Emulator) it's bloody brilliant.

What's the difference between this playthrough and the one with the FM?
The only difference is the sound chip. The playthrough uses PSG sound.

Space Harrier II's ending sequence actually establishes this as a prequel to the first one

That game back in 1989-1990 was extremely hard! I only managed to finish it twice.
You should've used the 2d mode trick for the replay.
why? youtube can do the switch for you so you get a choice of 2d or 3d!

it doesn't feel like 3d at all(even with magic eye trick) due to its terrible framerate.
No scaling and tracking back then on home systems! Lol
