I have owned my new Leaf for 5 months now and have covered 38,000 km in that time doing Uber work in Qld Australia.
As a high mileage user this car is excellent in every respect of performance, handling and comfort. Not at all unsimilar to my previous car, a VW Golf 7.5 in pretty much all respects.
The reviewers critique of the dash layout and instrumentation is just an opinion (his) but in reality, it works well providing all relevant info in a fairly intuitive manner. I would say however that every brand these days has their switch and info design so switching from car to car requires one to relearn stuff as you would if you replaced your iPhone with an Android.

Just saw this review. I'm an owner of a 2019 SV and thought it was a fare review. The Level1 charge time is closer to 6 miles/hour and 30 miles/hour for Level2. Level3 is definitely available and goes about 40-50kw/h in real world situations. I think Jerry was a little harsh on the handling aspects of the car though- I'm used to crisp handling and don't find the Leaf's that bad- it's certainly much better than our 2013 Leaf that we also sill own.
I think you need to factor what you get for 30-40K and that is a lot of features and functionality for the Leaf. The other game changer for us is having a front charge port- makes it super simple to get a charge at either home or away. The Teslas, VW's, BMWs have ports on either front or rear sides and that can makes things more difficult charging- that's why you see so many Teslas backed into charging bays- that's the only way to charge the car with a standard length cord.
We took our Leaf on a 1200 mile road trip for the first time and found it to do pretty well. The effective range for a Plus model with 62KW battery is 180 going 70-75mph. I average 3.9 miles/KW doing so as well which isn't bad at those speeds. The only caveat I learned in this road trip was monitoring battery temperature which will creep up with multiple DC fast charges, 100F temperatures and high speeds. Once battery gets into high normal (near read hash marks), the charge rate drops to 19-20KW/H so it could take 2-3 hours to charge the car in those conditions- that's really the only nit I have for this car- everything thing else is excellent.

I just learned today Jerry passed away in a car accident at the end of 2021. Sad. He was any awesome speaker and seemed like a great guy. Rip

The person said he was a neighbor and family friend. He did not feel at liberty to give any more information for the sake of the family. Apparently, it has been a pretty devastating situation.

just bought a 2019 Leaf SV (pick it up next week) and am so excited, especially now, to not pay for gas and to have a really cool EV that has decent range and power

@@kreapz i did! It's easily been the best car I've purchased thus far. I plan on getting another EV, probably either a Tesla or the Ioniq 5 in the future but my leaf has been fantastic!

With the hand brake- on the 2011/12 Leaf it comes off automatically when you put the foot on the accelerator, but only if you have the seat belt on.
This model probably the same. 🙂

Very thorough review. I own the 2022 model. Not much different to your 2019, except they added an obnoxious annoying back up sound that drives me nuts. Back up out of your driveway at 1:00 am and you will have angry neighbors. I don’t think your car has that. I love the car. Not bothered at all by many that do you. But, I do agree with you regarding the driving. I don’t like the drifting. It’s hard to maintain a perfect straight line. I use it for driving around town. Haven’t taken it out to where I need a quick charge. All done at home plugged into my dryer plug. I’ll hang onto it until they perfect battery technology. It’s coming soon as they are making improvements. Thanks for the review.

Does the 360 degree camera require a special package? I don't think I've seen it on other 2019 SVs I've checked out online.

Did you retire from rental cars? Or are you even still alive? Just FYI I went to Ludington Michigan this past weekend with some friends and family and we rented a passenger van and a small car. Because my mom works at enterprise we got a discount with national and enterprise and each of my friends helped pay for our trip.

Yeah the most important thing which you missed is range and economy. You could have shown a bit of how far it goes at 70 Vs 80. Or in extreme circumstances 60 mph. That's what people encounter every day.
