    Given time, you will not remember the home shop. It will be revisited,I'm sure! Mustie1 is still #1! Who knows what 1 will drag in from yardsales. It is only the beginning of summer and yardsales go on now for at least 4-5 months. I am happy for 1's new shop! He will bedazzle us all with new and always entertaining "brought back from the dead" projects! Happy Summer, everyone! Love that Mustie1! Thanxz

    great job.. don't ever listen to those people who say "just get another carb", I enjoy watching you adapt or modify to get it working, as not everyone has an inventory or other carbs. It is the first time I ever saw one of those large blowers doing what they do, they would certainly be useful. Thanks !!!

    Mustie, my first comment after watching your channel for over a half a decade. The reason you reached over 305K subs was from your intimate at home, wife in the house and an occasional visit from Lucy while you did your magic in the garage. That’s what made your followers believe they could repair things within their means. Please understand that we are all happy you could get this facility and have the room to spread out the hoard. But, being at home with you, the ambiance and the feel can’t be duplicated. I would have built a big pole barn at the back of your property to store your stuff while keeping the home garage as the main repair shop. It is what defined the Mustie 1 video experience.

      The lack of ambient sounds is so weird (no sounds of traffic, birds, neighbors, etc) - the quietness, immense space and solitude seems very strange. The new place severely lacks the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the old garage.

    • @michaelstedman9158
      @michaelstedman9158 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I think it is the lack of distant background noise (traffic going by etc) that gave it a feel in the old garage of being a busy place that was a focal point where everyone wanted to be..............the old garage had that feel I remember from the 1960s of the gas station or local mechanics shop where everyone gathered for friendship, a soda pop, and to see what the latest project was, be it the motorcycle racer, the dirt track car racer, or the guy building his pulling tractor or truck. I miss that feel but I’m sure in time it will come back to musties new shop.

      @MattBrownbill 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can can see a use there, but people use them on tiny gardens here in the UK and it seems daft burning dinosaurs just to move a rakeful of leaves from one place to another, and then still have to pick them up! 🙄

    • @Thoridin58
      @Thoridin58 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattBrownbill Back where I lived we would blow the leaves out to the edge of the road, making piles up to 3ft tall and whatever long. The county would come by at regular intervals with a huge vacuum truck to suck up the leaves. What they did with them from there I have no idea.

    That thing is a beast! I wish I had one. You have tons riding mowers, engines, parts, supplies, a shop and TOOLS. You could make a micro "rider" or rig it such that it could be an "attachment.! Even cobble together a vacuum/leaf shredder.... That would be BADASS! The development would be a intriguing series of video's. Possibly create something REALLY COOL! One of a kind, PATENTED! Artistic and totally functional. There are so many "price--point", mass produced landscape maintenance machines that are junk. It would be cool to see something made with quality, ultra durable, lasts forever, easily operated and maintained. License the production to a few manufacturers and collect $$$$$

    My earlier years as a masonry instructor I did small engine repair and had one elderly lady who had one of those blower/vacs that was constantly needing attention. She had a huge lot with a lot of trees so fall meant hours of blowing with the thing. Eventually I had to get a short block (had it tore down already so this was the cheapest way to go) and didn't hear from her after putting the monster back together. You wouldn't believe how worn the bore and piston was. Slapped and sounded like a diesel especially when it was cold. Glad your blower wasn't worn that bad, Greg.

I love the new shop it's exactly what I would've loved a few years ago when I could repair things a bit bigger than a laptop. Even that's difficult from a wheelchair, so I mainly do short jobs.I suppose when you (or me) get to 64 you (or me) should expect similar. I liked the old shop because it was (is) close to your hoard & home, can't you build an extension on the old one (side & height), NOT the house side!! or the wife will evict you , I'll have to get back to the laptops...👍😁 Sorry about the dissertation ...Byyee, Ian.

    That was fun for me because I used a leaf blower like that for many years at our old property with a 2 acre formal English garden. It was very effective, but also could be turned and adjusted to suck the leaves into a sack. The big B&S would only start when it was cold and I cursed and kicked that thing often enough, then just learned to go have a cup of tea if I had to turn it off and restart it. I wouldn't want to know how many cubic metres of leaves I blew together with that machine. Thanks for the memories.

    I appreciate that you attempt to fix the carburetor and don't just take an easy out. People need to learn how things work in a real world situation. It must be service people who give you the thumbs down. You take their easy money work away.

    At around 40:20 you can see fuel being blown back out of the carb, if it had a stuck intake valve would that explain it not wanting to idle , then eventually clearing up as the valve seated again , hence why it ran nice at the end. Just a theory . Great video! and love the new shop

    That carburetor dipping solution is great! I’ve cleaned about 50 carbs over the last 2 years with the same gallon. I Put the solution in an small crockpot and it works great.

    The style of muffler is listed as an "acorn" muffler
    Make a sound closet for the compressor. We wont hear it on the camera.
    The engine got a richer mixture on idle when you put the air filter on.

  • @stevebloke5455
    @stevebloke5455 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    nice one..... looks like some one did a number on the poor old thing, but in you're usual fashion you rectified the crap and made it a useable machine.... id say the idle came back with the air cleaner drag, acting like a small amount of choke....
    To those whining about the new shop, if you miss the old one so bad just go watch some of the old vids for some nostalgia + some extra views for mustie, im sure he would not complain......... Thanks for the vids, always great to watch!!

    I think moveing to the new shop was being a good neighbor thing. I used to live in the burbs with a neighbor constantly working on old cars and it was a pain with the noise and junkers siting in his yard. Better to do that stuf in the country or industrial area. Good job.

    i wont read the rest of the comments about musties move so i get a more "honest to myself" response. first, i am very happy mustie has been able to find and move to a place he has wanted for awhile....... good on ya mustie, but its so strange i feel "uncomfortable" watching him work now, its as if it is a different channel. i know mustie does watch comments on his channel, but im writing other subs to see if they feel the same way, i suppose we like like what we are used to, its all i can figure

      Feels like Mustie has grown from a guy next door working from his garage to Cable TV 'reality show' status. Same guy though. I have a lot of respect for him and what he does, but it is like watching a different channel. Maybe once he gets the new place filled up it will look more 'normal'.

    I think why it won't idle is because the idle stop screw is too low for that engine to handle. I had a Tecumseh H30 that did the exact same thing. I turned the idle screw up, and it idled perfectly. If it doesn't want to idle, try turning that screw up. I saw how far back the screw was on the carburetor, and I think it's too low. Otherwise, I think this rusteration of this leaf blower/vac was well done. Mustie1, you have actually inspired me to do kinda the same thing. I got a 1988 Tecumseh H30 from a snowblower running last summer. Thank you, and keep doing what you're doing, and I look forward to where you go next with this channel.

    I've worked on several Briggs engines of that style, they are 8 hp blocks usually. I've got a generator with the same carburetor and fuel pump, it's an 8-horse too. The one good thing about the ethanol-laced gas is that it eats through the crud in a fuel system! Lily is a sweet pup, I love seeing your dogs in your videos :-)
