I really like the part where you explain that Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs has to be commented because the catergories can be different from each individual. Sometimes, the need of self-accomplishment (put at the top) is more fondamental than financial security. Very interesting to create our own hierarchy of needs !

Yes, it was mentioned in his actual theory. I study Psychology and we learned about it. I didn't know about the expanded version but those were mentioned in the textbook I've read. Self-actualization is hard to achieve because of the complexity of the concepts there. All in all, his theory is really amazing to learn even if you're not majoring in psych. 💜

Omg Aileen! I literally just posted up a video about my career journey and my made-up 'maslow's hierarchy of CAREER needs' 😂 I've noticed how negatively I've looked at my own career - how time after time, despite changing careers, I still felt like my 'needs' weren't fulfilled. When you spoke about 'growth needs' though, it made me realise that this whole time, it's not like my needs weren't fulfilled, it was that I had fulfilled a need and was looking to satisfy the next! You've put a positive spin on this and I'm sending you much love for it!

I tried flipping the pyramid upside down. Now, I don't mean to minimize the reality or importance of our physical needs and what a struggle it is for many people to feel safe. However, I found it much easier to work on these things in my life when I started from a place of transcendence.
I'd love to hear others' thoughts on this idea! I realize it is definitely a more privileged perspective to take but as someone who lacked a lot of safety, love, and esteem in their life, this perspective was extremely freeing.

It is true that our basic needs can come into play into our happiness but like you said I think it's mostly a state of mind or mindset. Like I feel like many who lack in their basic needs or don't have them consistently are more prone to looking to the spirituality/religion in the transcendence level to find inner peace and joy despite what's going on around them or what they may be lacking because of their inner peace and faith that keeps them going and appreciate what they do have and experience. I love how you keep reiterating to make changes in what you can control which is ourselves and to go forth looking to do what we can despite what obstacles (life) come in our way.

Thank you for sharing. Your knowledge in the subject and viewpoints are pretty well. The moment I think on a point you mention it. Like for example, the needs cannot necessarily be in order and I always used to wonder the same when I studied in classes Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs but this updated version I learnt from you today. Thank you. I also feel the transcende needs actually liberates us and makes us feel more empowered and confident when we are able to be of service to others even in a small way. I also believe that self care first is imp. Its important to fill your cup first then others but being of service to others is why we are here on the planet. Thank you Lavendaire.

knowledge is power for sure! I've gained much of my confidence and lack of fear in situations, especially with everything that is going on in 2020, simply due to the knowledge I have gained from my hunger to learn more.

I agree with your sharing Ms. Aileen of this concept, theoretical basis. Though it can vary depends on the environment of a person. Of what he value or meaning of his life.💕
