There are some songs... you gotta wonder why they didn't become one of the most popular songs in history- why they didn't reach Stairway To Heaven status- this is one of those songs. This is on my "play at my funeral" list for sure.
So highly underrated. Blinker should have been HUGE in the 90s/early 00s. Not sure if it was bad marketing on their/the record company’s part or what. I bought this album when it came out and I was blown away. My cd went missing quite a while ago. So I went to Amazon to buy a new copy. Pretty hard to come by actually. Had to buy a Japanese copy. Track listing looks the same. Eagerly awaiting for it to arrive so I can experience this magic again.
Many thanks. In talking to radio and label people later, I learned that the main obstacle we were up against was rap-rock's dominance at Alternative radio at the time. A few stations stuck their necks out...we had regional success in DC, Detroit, and LA. And the album slowly accumulates new fans every year. I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to have a vinyl release done for next year's 25th anniversary.
This song is so special to me (as it is to all of you) it takes me back to my college years. Heard this gem on radio xy, a canadian indie radio. Love from Peru !
For real---loved the hell out of this song when it came out---only heard it on the local Canadian station though. The whole debut CD by this band is really good--but they were never really pushed in the U.S. for some reason. I love this song because it definitely has a '70s/early '80s feel and style to it. Great tune, though.
@@alondathomas293 they weren't pushed because alternative radio was getting taking over by rap/rock. K-rock in New York wouldnt play this because it was all KidRock, Korn, limp biKit stuff. I heard this on whtg 106.3 in new Jersey which I dearly miss till this day.. so many late 90s alternative that is lost because of that whole rap/rock movement.
@@ColorsBright: Actually, by the time Blinker the Star was getting played on alternative stations, the whole alternative rock craze had already been winding down somewhat. So,no, it wasn't rap/rock's fault they didn't get played---they just missed the whole alternative rock craze by a year or two.
@@blinkerthestar1 wow! Thank you for your reply! I'm sorry you had to go through that trouble. It was a very infuriating time to be an alt rock fan. I still miss 106.3 in new Jersey. So many bands I still play today because of that station. There are so many online radio stations these days but 90% of them overlook the 98-early 2000 era of alt rock. Bands like Dexter Freebish, Tin Star, Vast, Bare Jr., Peter Searcy, etc... If I had a radio station I would instantly keep all these songs alive. Thank you again for this incredible song , and again I'm sorry you had to go through that trouble :(
Thank god the lyrics in the chorus are so memorable. This song sat in my head for years then I searched lyrics to find it again. Just a lights out hit tune.
Finally found this song! I've been looking for it for yearsss. This brings priceless (and I think timeless, not old) feelings started after I heard this song over the radio. Thank goodness I found you! :)
Wow---I remember when his song came out, I loved it to death---it sounds like something that would have come out in the late '60's/early '80's, and I have the CD---never knew this video existed until now. The group---or at least the lead singer---put out a new album last year---his first in a decade. Never understood why this song wasn't a bigger hit, or why this Canadian group wasn't bigger to begin with--for one thing, they didn't follow up quick enough on the momentum of this hit, that's why.
Uncle jordan! I dunno what made me listen to your song today but I did.... Anyways l love reading all these comments... You truly are so very very talented. I hope you are well....been a long time now.... Cheers, Stacey
Lyrics: Time is up, the money’s gone A windless moon is your only throne Last walk in the garden You’d like to think you know no shame Select a worthy heir to your name Miss one and it’s end of game We walk under the clouds of a sunny day Words are on the run anyway Be safe below the sliding doors of a modern sham Say the words that we’ll never say Swiss time is on the move No precision on an icy groove A valentine in the window Blow forth and feed your eyes No incision, she’s a satellite A dull kiss in the morning This is where we say what’s wrong Smooth the edges with an iron tongue Peruse the list and find the song The same day we find a plane These pills - never twice the same Shallow walk in the ocean
One of my favorite songs ever written. I don't know if it's true, but if it is, I'm super happy Ken Andrews didn't like the second part of the chorus and then just got pushed into singing it himself.
The real story is even better: Chris Pitman was supposed to sing that second chorus part but he got asked to join Guns'n'Roses and never returned to the studio to finish his part. Ken was very reluctant but I wanted another voice to answer the main line, so he acquiesced and nailed it.
Ken had no problem with the part. Chris Pitman was supposed to sing it, but he got called to join G'n'R on the same day he was supposed to record vocals. And I really wanted a different voice singing those answer parts back. So Ken reluctantly took his place behind the microphone and nailed it.
This is great! Has this been remixed? I really like the string arrangement near the end of the song. One of the most underrated bands from both sides of the border.
Oops---I meant to say ate '70's/early '80's---it has that kind of vibe to it. The other good song from that CD is the very first one---I think it's the title track, but I can't remember.

for real... I just tonight heard this for the 1st time & damn, am I happy about that... it kinda gives me goosebumps in that good way.
2023, still in love with this cool song.
I feel so fortunate to be an American(Detroiter) that got to discover Canadian rock alternative music. 89x in Windsor shaped my music 🎶 🎵 taste.
89x was such a cool thing. And playing Detroit was always a high point for us.
I remember this song in heavy rotation at WPLT (now WDVD) Detroit and CIDR Windsor. You never hear it anymore.

Time is up, the money’s gone
A windless moon is your only throne
Last walk in the garden
You’d like to think you know no shame
Select a worthy heir to your name
Miss one and it’s end of game
We walk under the clouds of a sunny day
Words are on the run anyway
Be safe below the sliding doors of a modern sham
Say the words that we’ll never say
Swiss time is on the move
No precision on an icy groove
A valentine in the window
Blow forth and feed your eyes
No incision, she’s a satellite
A dull kiss in the morning
This is where we say what’s wrong
Smooth the edges with an iron tongue
Peruse the list and find the song
The same day we find a plane
These pills - never twice the same
Shallow walk in the ocean
