Thanks for all the great Saturday mornings Billie. A big ol 'bowl of Apple Jacks and some quality time with those classic Sid and Marty Kroft shows was a great way to get a weekend off to a good start.
I remember seeing her on a Paul Lynde Halloween special back around 1974 - Billie was in character as Witchie-Poo, and with her was Margaret Hamilton as (yes!) the Wicked Witch of the West, green makeup and all! My 8 year old mind ---> blown
I am 60 years old and remember Lidsville with great fondness. But I will tell you... The theme song is a total earworm for me. I hear it for real and then I constantly hear it in my head for at least a week. I also remember sitting in the theater watching Disney's The Black Cauldron and when I heard Ms. Hayes's voice from one of the witches I shouted out, "That's Witchiepoo!!!" Then I heard someone from down my row yell. "OMG, it IS!" LOL
Loved her . Saturday mornings were a huge part of my childhood. HR pufnstuf was my favorite Saturday morning show !! I own both HR PUFNSTUF and LIDSVILLE on DVD. My kds and grandkids love them too. ❤️
Such a beautiful woman and an awesome actress. I remember all those Saturday morning shows Lidsville HR puffin stuff to this day. I still watch it we miss you and we love you.
Billie Hayes was truly a treat to watch. She always portrayed her characters in kids' shows with just the right amount of cheekiness, that you knew it was going to be a fun show. I loved the way she broke the fourth wall, too. It was always so natural!
Her acting talent is really shown between the two characters. I remember my brother telling me they were the same actress and I just couldn't believe it. Even knowing it now, she just does two very different characters that it's really hard to remember they are played by the same person. Yes, the shows are kiddie shows and cheezy to the point of heart attack, but that doesn't mean the talent on the shows wasn't hitting out of the ball park.
I, as a child, watching your performance and digging it so much. I LOVED when you played the genie because we wanted you to be the goodie. Because, you were so good as the baddie.
She reminds me of my grandmother ( who I called Nanna ) in both appearance & character. I miss my Nanna (& Poppa too). I miss them so much & the good times I had on holidays at their house up on the NSW Sapphire Coast. I miss Billie Hayes too as Witchie Poo. I Knew it was purely all fantasy, because the sets & puppets in it were so surreal, but I miss those years in the 1970s growing up as a child. They were very fond childhood memories indeed 👀👍❗
I purchased them as soon as they were available too...I loved pufnstuf and was so glad my own children could experience it too...both of them loved it as well ❤❤
'60s, '70s & '80s children's entertainment was so good, innocent & wholesome to grow up with. no politics, no indoctrination. they just wanted to entertain kids. you don't see anything like it today.
The 80s were filled with indoctrination - buy these toys, buy these toys, then late 80s that continued but there was also Captain Planet and other mind control shows. However, there plenty of shows that weren't filled with any of that and I watched those (too).

Seems like a very sweet lady. Not sure why she's cosplaying as Doctor Who...? Interesting to hear how much thought she'd put into these silly little shows and treated it very seriously. Nice to see
She's so beautiful. I'm really going to miss her. I was around 8 watching her in the early 1970s. Rip

This woman was talented.
She was delightful.
I love her! She was who I looked forward to watching on Saturday mornings.
Wonderful, memorable performances! Witchipoo was over the top! 😅 👍🎩
Billie Hayes was a complete joy to watch . She taught imagination
Thank you for making my 70s childhood so special.

I LOVE this woman.
I'm 61 and bought the DVDs for myself because I enjoyed puff n stuff so much and if I'm blessed with grandchildren they will watch with me
I purchased them as soon as they were available too...I loved pufnstuf and was so glad my own children could experience it too...both of them loved it as well ❤❤
Yep, I introduced my kids to HR Pufnstuf in the 90’s ❤️
Loved you as Witchie-poo xx❤❤
She lived to a ripe old age unlike Jack Wild!
It was very sad how Jack spent his final years.
Class
Always wondered if she realized how many millions of kiddies like us adored her as Witcheepoo ❤❤❤
I still like watching those shows at 60! Yes I'm immature too!
there nothing wrong with you your like me we like good tv shows
Loved Mamie Yoakum and Witchie Poo.
Witchypoo was one of my favorite characters.
I liked her role in the Monkees episode, Hillybilly honeymoon, maybe she was how hate and vengenance makes you live longer. RIP Billie.
"When you get mad, find someone you hate. It clears your bloodstream."
She's so cool
Loved her in the episode on Bewitched. "Ate away half my roof, you glutton."😅😂
She was amazing! It's so great to see her as a normal person. :D
I was a newborn for Pufnstuf. I grew watching all the Krofft shows.
Oh I can hear that cackle there
I saw Billie Hayes on an episode of "The Monkees." It was in the episode "Hillbilly Honeymoon."
Hayes discussed that appearance in an "Easter Egg" on the original Pufnstuf DVD (it's on TH-cam).

Loved Witchypoo
Lidsville filled me with terror. I think it was Hoodoo's unblinking eyes. I ran from the room when the intro music came on.
Relatively speaking, she has amazing skin!
She looked great but I would say she’d had work done.
I wonder how much her role as Mammy Yokum in Lil Abner influenced her Witchiepoo persona.
GOSH I LOVEWITCHYPOO I LOVED HER CACLE LAUGH
AND HER PERSONALITY AS THE WITCH AND UM SO SORRY SHE'S NO LONGER WITH US SHE IS SADLY MISSED I LOVE U BILLY HAYES.
I REMEMBER SEEING HER ON HILLBILLY HONEYMOON

Not sure why she's cosplaying as Doctor Who...?
Interesting to hear how much thought she'd put into these silly little shows and treated it very seriously.
Nice to see
WitchiePoo made the show
I loved Witchiepoo
Witchiepoo forever!
Tell me Sid and Marty didn't smoke the chronic.
The genie didn't sing about oranges...
I appreciate what you thought you were doing. But it was Drug themes presented to children. Really, how can you be proud of that.........
Horrible acting
Tool
