The first game will always be the best to me. The newer games got too colorful and light hearted for my personal tastes. I still enjoy the latter entries, but this....this is a masterpiece.
This one didn't have Ieyasu Tokugawa or Hideyoshi Toyotomi as playable characters. That would be like if Liu Bei and Sun Quan weren't in the first Dynasty Warriors. Oh wait.
It's been 10 years since I played Samurai Warriors for the first time and honestly it has been the best game so far for me. Alongside Mitsuhide Akechi , Yukimura Sanada was my favorite character and this soundtrack it's the best they could've get for his last battle. Oh god, so much childhood memories :)
+Sergio Demaj Not to mention, unlike Dynasty Warriors, all the character movesets were fleshed out enough to not undergo reworks throughout the series (barring examples like O'ichi).
+Abigdummy4life many sw2 movesets got reworked... biggest 1s being all the normal based movesets with 12 hit long square combos and masamune getting a gun and saber instead of dual wooden katanas and spirit dragon blasts
"We have no choice in winning this battle now... " "All there is left to do is find a dying place worthy of a Sanada warrior." "Yukimura is not to be underestimated, Approach him with caution!" "Our forces vastly outnumber the enemy. There is no need for concern." "Our forces are few. We cannot allow the enemy to buy any more time." "We must lure the enemy, and show them the essence of the Sanada Warfare!"
unfortunately, Kunoichi is not factually based on a real person, (Kunoichi = female ninja) Kunoichi's character does represent the Sanada Ten Braves, a bodyguard unit of ten ninjas who assisted Yukimura Sanada during the warring states period. They say Kunoichi is based on one of the braves though, thought to be a girl....
I loved how when you created a character, played thru their storyline and chose to help yukimura, this levels music suited the dire battle so well, and i remember getting the objective to support yukimura's charge and so i did... me and him alone in the enemy camp surrounded, ahh the bond of brotherhood could be felt as we carve our way thru hundreds of tokugawa soldiers!
Lol dude, I felt the same thing. It was epic fight alongside him Kawanakajima and Nagashino too, face him as a opponent in Ueda and then, one final battle helping him reach Tokugawa main camp. I remember I started losing my bodyguards one by one, till the moment that only me and Yukimura remained.
Yukimura, the warrior that could match my dear Zhao Yun's awesomeness. Too bad, his fate was very unlucky but his dying will was remarkable. I gotta admit Yukimura lived up to his name as the Rising Sun Zhao Yun. Well, at least, he had Kunoichi by his side. Zhao Yun was too caught up with his duty that remained virgin or better yet, FOREVER ALONE.
zhaoyun255 the Zhao Yun in real life has 3 wives (one of them is Ma Chao's sister) and 7 childrens. Yukimura Sanada has couple wives and children as well.
Yeah was thinking they were eerily similar last year or so too but I think this video dissappeared from youtube for awhile so I couldn't share it then. Glad to find people who think the same.😂
Having never even heard of Samurai Warriors, I remember hearing this song in Warriors Orochi, and I loved it! Since Zhenji was my favorite from Dynasty, Nō stood out to me as the Samurai equivalent, so I quickly mained her. This song reminds me of Nō and her quick footsteps through the battlefield xD their pace matches the beat
Don't kid yourself. The Tokugawa faction had many skilled warriors on it's side as well. Tadakatsu Honda, Mototada Torii, Yasumasa Sakakibara, Naomasa Ii, Masamune Date, and so on. The Mōri were not bribed either, Terumoto Mōri (who was ironically the actual head of the Western Army faction) was not happy with Mitsunari Ishida, and did not actually Defect as portrayed in game, he was simply absent. The Shimazu clan were also unhappy with Ishida's poor leadership and did not participate, either.
nah, the actual reason why shimazu joined western army is because mototada torii insult yoshihiro when he offer shimazu service, so they joined western faction, and during sekigahara, mitsunari and yoshihiro had a different view regarding the tactic so shimazu chose to not take action. Mori Terumoto is just uncapable leader despite his status of council of 5 elder, unlike his uncles or grandfather, so he stay at osaka castle during sekigahara, and leave the army in the hand of Kikkawa Hiroie who predict tokugawa would won. the biggest mistake that mitsunari do is making Kato Kiyomasa as his enemies, because he didn't reported his achievement on korean invasion to hideyoshi. well, actually Mitsunari is digging his own grave by doing that.
And even if bribery were involved, as may have been the case with Hideaki Kobayakawa, it's not really "cheating". This is war; it's called strategy, and possibly better leadership. Mitsunari Ishida was not a great and respected leader like Ieyasu Tokugawa was; hence why Yoshihiro Shimazu held his forces in reserve and did not fight at Sekigahara.
Yeah yoshihiro pulled a great move right there. He just waited to see what's happening and as soon as the western army got clapped he just charges across the battlefield and left the war. The shimazu clan survived because of that.
@Crazy4Games3 well, the Toyotomi were heavily outnumbered, Ieyasu used this cannons to blow down the castle walls, and Yukimura just died making a charge on Ieyasu's main camp, so if you were Hideyori, you're best general died, you're heavily outnumbered and the walls fell, do you feel any more hope
"All that is left is to find a worthy place for a dying warrior.." Well, that didn't suit me, I charged instead. And shortly after, there was a victory! Still, there was a great bloody load of pressure, enemies everywhere and this music playing in the background..
Soon this land will be mine. Hanzo should have killed Sanada by know. Lord Hanzo has been killed in battle... Impossible! He can't be in here! Stop Yukimura's NOW! Is he not human!? Sanada you are the Japan's greatest hero... Now the chaos ends❤
I know, right? Hideyori committing suicide had something to do with his mother not wanting him to fight or some shit like that, at least according to Kessen 1. Still, he should've been like Yukimura and fought to the death like a man.
Havn't played any of them past 2 Empires due to localisation bollocks. But did they ever return this stage to how it was in 1? I loved how bittersweet and hopeless it was especially with this tune. In 2 they kind of went with that Japanese friendship trope and ended happily no matter who won.
3 and 4 both had much more bittersweet outcomes than SW2. Yukimura and the defenders perish, but leave lasting impressions on those who live on. SW4 is localized, so I would recommend trying it out. Personally I thought SW3 had the best Osaka; Hanzo's ending in particular after beating that stage was quite sad and heartfelt.
Seraphil1 Really?! From what I seen I saw (which was little) it went the anime route with bad writing and storytelling, much like the horrible Dynasty Warriors 8 story mode.
@@Darkness7508 Spirit of Sanada made this final like they did in SW 1. Yukimura does the same charge against Tokugawa forces, in the end, he dies after the final battle. There's no other route.
@@PuchimonExtreme Yeah, there's no real "law" that could punish "war criminals" (as people would call it today) at the time. Even if there's a law, they'd be created by the winners that the opposing factions/clans wouldn't necessarily agree or follow. Nobunaga slaughtered many peasants and Buddhist monks as well as burning temples, yet he never got punished for that until his death at Honnouji.
@@EyeStorrm Even that wasn't "punishment" for his actions. He simply lost the war. On top of that, those Buddhist monks weren't entirely "innocent" (they are armed forces that sided with Nobunaga's enemies. What else do you expect him to do?) while the peasants are collateral damage (everyone else caused them as well so they can't complain.)
I kinda find it funny finding out Yukimura never actually served the Takeda clan in any way.... kinda makes the build up of his story in SW1 seem kinda silly
@@somacruz7759 Still Mitsuhide can only play on this level in free mode. Than again never played State of war so. P.S: Holy crap pretty quick reply considering you posted the original comment 2 years ago.
And think about Sekigahara. The only reason why Tokugawa won is because he cheated, bribing several officers to defect, creating an unfair advantage against the Western Army. The west had the advantage and were about to win. Just think about those who served the Toyotomi / Western Army when playing the post-Odawara stages. Just. Wow.
yeah no. The sides were evenly matched. The people who betrayed Mitsunari weren't bribed they just already agreed to betray them before the battle because they didn't like Mitsunari. Also that's not cheating.

Spirit of Sanada isnt too bad in its own right, showing that Masayuki (Yukimura's father) was kind of a paranoid jerk in his middle age.
Or the fact that the characters age at all, over time.
It's been 10 years since I played Samurai Warriors for the first time and honestly it has been the best game so far for me.

This song and this stage reminds us why Tokugawa Ieyasu calls Sanada Yukimura Japan's Greatest General.
This song was so good that they had to use it again in SW2 and in the Orochi games.
Got me thinking about this song about work. Best song hands down from samurai warriors
"We have no chance of winning this battle now..."
"All there is left to do is to find a dying place worthy of a Sanada warrior..."
The feeling of...'You're totally fucked, but you're not going to go down without a fight!'
i freakin love this song from samurai warriors.. its so pretty!
This OST is really emotional like as if you lost those that were close to you and it's just you alone in the fight.
