"I fix my Kioti tractor with a wine cork and pieces of an old rubber boot" Totally impressed with the fix of the tractor. One thing that truly paid off is your storage system to know where your stuff is located. It takes a sharp mind to think of how to fix it, along with some forethought of proper storage, you didn't have to take the entire day to find the odds and ends to do the repair. Salute to you Boss and Mama.
I always enjoy your backwoods ingenuity... Glad to see you out clearing fresh ground. You and Lori and the Collies would make good neighbors. Thanks for the new video.
JC I had 32 yrs in the oil field before I did 14 yrs in sales. Believe me, the hatchet ( or rig axe) would have helped you🤣. You and Lori take care of yourselves and kids. God Bless and see y’all on the next one.
If you worked in the oil fields . . . you WORKED. My Dad did oil field work, 45 years of it. . .yeah, that's work. Especially in Pennsylvania especially in the winter months. God Bless ya my friend.
Boss, you and your ingenuity just amaze me. A few bits of rubber and it's fixed? Seriously? I'm just impressed. Hugs to you and yours, and your sweet doggies.
Oh how I have missed seeing your videos, life has been in the toilet lately but now I'm back. I've missed you Boss, glad to see you and the critters again!!
You made me laugh with your little joke about the bubble foil and the axe! I was thinking to myself, 'what the heck is he going to do with that?' Hahaha. You're too funny!
We had snow here in the U.K last Sunday, but thankfully only 2 inches or so, and it was all gone by mid afternoon. Its great to see you fixing your problem with a bit of good old backwoods technology. I hope the design bods ar Kioti get to see and hear about it. Those ball linkages are not the best things, I have them on my 1980 pickup manual gear change rods, and I have lost count of the times I have replaced them. Anyway, it was great to see you got the job done and beat the weather, I wish you all well with your projects and continued good health. Keep safe. David in the U.K.
We need more of y'alls humor in the world. Thanks for the laughs Boss and Lori. We're getting our containers planted. We have potatoes, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, spaghetti squash, onions, lettuce and broccoli growing. 💚 Mama always said make do with what you have. And it works most of the time. Looking forward to seeing more adventures with y'all. In our thoughts and prayers. God Bless y'all and the kids. ✌❤😁
My late father would always refer to it as "a window of opportunity". The soil is dry but precip is coming, we have a window of opportunity to get the garden ready today. Big brush piles to burn, snow on the ground, low winds, we have a window of opportunity to burn today. Mom gone to lunch and a matinee with some friends, we have a window of opportunity to drink some beer today. He was always plotting and planning for the most efficient and opportunistic use of his time. SITUATIONAL AWARENESS! His mindset, although a wee bit compulsive and consuming for me, taught me a ton about homesteading successfully. And about always being aware of what is going on around you.
Can you imagine what life was like for the early settlers?Building a log cabin, clearing the trees, pulling out the rocks, all with hand tools and horses. That must of been a hard life!
It isn't easy with a machine either...its called work... and you can see the joy and happiness you get from it... and soon you will see its fruits...take it any day of the week over the mess we currently find ourselves in:) Bet you sleep well too:)
Hello again. I've said it before (if not just to myself :) ) that I'm sooo impressed with your ingenuity. I'm from the era that you use it up, repair it with what you've got on hand, make do with something else you've got or do without. You're a man after my own heart. God bless you.
Ball sockets are a pretty common hardware item. Metric threads for sure. Our Ace Hdw. carries them in many sizes. Basically the hole in the ball and thread size are all that matter. That boot must not drain the rain water as it looks like those bolts were corroded badly. Start soaking them with penetrant oil.
My dad would have tried to fix that with concrete. He fixed an ice cream scoop by filling the handle with it. Fixed a leaky steel pail by pouring concrete in the bottom.
Oh that weather, remember it well. My daughters had birthdays generally the 3rd week of December and the 2nd week of April. Both would have bright sunny days and mild temperatures. Mine is the middle of May and without fail, I would get freezing rain or snow. They called it "Poor man's fertilizer. Anything that was sprouting and starting to grow, would become compost for the season. Didn't take long for me to learn to not plant outside until after it passed. I'll bet your areas last frost date will be about the same? But what a great garden you will have this year!
You sir are very busy! But I know thats how you love it. What a beautiful garden you will have! God willing! Yes you’re father would be proud of you! So proud! I know we are. Hugs! God Bless to both of you!
I am so with you and I feed them too ! I live on a canal in central Florida and I also feed the turtles, I have 14 of them come every morning, they Love cat food. It’s such a joy to watch all of God’s creation! ❤️❤️❤️
PS talking of rain and adapting things, part of my rainwater harvesting system uses cloth filters (what used to be called "mutton cloth") and I couldn't get zip ties to keep it on when the water went through it. So I cut a washing up rubber glove into "elastic bands" and used a couple of those and they work perfectly. :) Great stuff, rubber.
love watching your videos here in central fla, we need to call you the fix it guy. Get you some of those giant sunflower seeds at walmart, you will get some sunflower heads the size of plates. I bet the little guys will love them, stay safe
Bubble foil, hatchet....😄😄😄😄 You're clever -- thinking of solutions ....cork & pieces of rubber & drill holes ...wowsa! And Joan Jett tune to boot!!!! 😄😄 Husband & I are off grid, on a little over an acre. My car broke down, 5th gear pops out....maybe I have a cork & rubber pieces can mend my car! Well done!
That's some good ole backwoods logic! Nice temporary repair! You always hear "they don't make them like they used to" it's true. They put a plastic bushing in there, when something like brass would last much much longer, possibly even a lifetime. If you plan on keeping it long term, you might find a local machine shop who could duplicate those bushing in brass. Take care! - Stephen
Hey Jim I know you'll fix it properly but a piece of wisdom I heard over a decade ago from someone who obv iously does this sort of thing often: It's temporary only if it doesn't work.
Great video! I've seen many temporary repairs made over the years using what you had on hand. Some didn't work, some worked okay, and some worked good enough that they basically became permanent fixes.
Those look like Heim joints Boss. Any industrial supply may have them. Also, get yourself some permatex anti-seize from your local auto supply. It keeps things from corroding together like those knobs. Helpful for anything getting a lot of moisture.
FWIW when removing lots of bolts...use a breaker bar to loosen them and then use a socket on a cordless drill to take them off. Bang bang bang and a dozen are done! Happy gardening!
Three "funny's" in one video. Are you kidding me!?!?! Man you are too good to us! I love the throw off of Joan Jett and I hate nuts and bolts...., Also, I knew right away you're were being a smarty pants with throwing in the bubble foil and ax.
