I’m going to do this job on my L2000 today and your video just popped up! Isn’t TH-cam wonderful. I use Kubota Super UDT and the L2000 holds 21 litres. I’m also told there is an o ring under the cap that you mustn’t lose but I didn’t know about the spring. Thank you for posting this video.
Thank you so much for this video!! Followed it exactly and just changed the filter on my L245DT. Hydraulics are like brand new again! Thank you from here in the UK.
Thanks for your video. I have a L175 and the loader and 3point stopped working. I was gonna buy a pump but I checked my screen and it looked like it was dipped on old grease. Cleaned it up and reinstalled it, filled it with fluid and it works like new now! Thanks for the info. The screen is in the same location on the L175.
Stick the end of that filter in a battery drill and spin it in cleaning fluid (diesel works well).... centrifugal force and the "wash" of fluid over the surface will clean it quickly. Best is, of course, ultrasonic cleaning. If the gauze is ripping away it can be soldered or brazed...
This addressed so many questions that the shop manual and the owners manual didn't cover! I wish I knew what type of oil you added. UTD? Great video keep up the good work!
Yes. If I could attach a picture I would. I used NAPA premium heavy duty tractor hydraulic & transmission fluid. I’ll see if I can find a picture on line and post the link.
New tractor owner here. Similar model Kubota L2050. I just changed my hyd-trans fluid according to this video. Now looking at my manual, I'm seeing the rear drain plug @7:59. Rather than using this location, I filled at the center "replenish" location below the stick shift. What is the difference between these two fill locations concerning changing fluid? One other note, my manual has shows two drain plugs on the bottom of the transmission as well as one drain plug for each rear differential.
ALL the drain plugs should have been taken out...and that would have goten rid of all the old fluid saving what was in the rams for the loader. Now there will be 10 litres plus of filthy fluid still circulating. The correct whole of transmission dump needs to be done again within 50 hours..regard this as a "flush" in preparation for that!
If you drain every point you can , you’ll get way more than 25 courts . You have the tranny plug , the diff plug , and a plug by both tires towards the bottom of the case .
I have a kubota l275 4wd and my sight glass widow is where that bolt is. Mine looked like the fluid was milky so I flushed it with diesel running it a couple of minutes twice til it looked clean Didn't seem to hurt anything hell it even lifted the shredder like it was hydraulic fluid lol. Mine has a nearly impossible hydraulic fluid filter to find not on the tractor but to buy Instead of that filter thing you cleaned..( if anyone knows the cross reference to a kubota h3840-37710} please let me know. Filled it back up and lifts great again wasn't lifting to good before.
@@60acresofwhatever Absolutely! I have the exact same tractor, and although the manuals are good, first hand video and experience is even better. I thought the hydraulic and transmission were the same, but couldn't figure out where the filter was...now I know! Did you ever add the sea foam trans tune? If so how much did you add?
I just picked up the same tractor like I your L245DT. I got oil in the flywheel area. I don't believe it's a wet clutch. Oil sips out in the start area and peep hole area. Do you have any oil in yours?
I'm getting ready to also change my transmission fluid if I understand correctly if I were to pull the filter and let drain out completely then pull the full plug and fill until it comes out of my level plug I should be good?
My brother in law has an L1501DT. Is the transmission the same for fill and drain procedure? We're trying to get the tractor to move but it currently will not. Thinking it could be low on fluid.
Finally got around to changing the transmission oil on my L245DT and again your video was a huge help. My tractor also surprisingly started to leak from level hole at about 14 quarts. The scary thing is that it had way way more in there when I drained it, it filled two 5 gallon buckets about 3/4 full. The amount in there was closer to your original # of 26 quarts needed. Have you had any trouble with hydraulics? Added any more? My lift seems weaker and is noisier now so I am planning to add more oil myself. Thanks again for your great videos.
Jason Williams I haven’t had any issues. From everything I’ve read on forums and manuals the oil flows into the front and rear differentials and when a %100 fluid change is done(differentials, hose lines, and transmission) it’ll take the full amount of fluid.
Anyone have an extra L285 screen and spring they would like to sell? If so PM me ASAP, please. Apparently the previous owner decided not to include it in the tractor. THANKS
Water, rust, dirt, metallic shavings, paint...that filter needs cleaning every full change of the fluid...and there are more drain plugs on the two hubs (portal axles/hub reduction drive, and in the bottom of the different parts of the transmission..... that still need to be drained. This fluid change should be done again within 50 hours and ALL the fluid drained out and replaced......park the hydraulic rams to expel as much fluid as possible from them as well. Operate the rams after the fluid change and recheck fluid level...
I used Napa’s hydraulic fluid. Their description reads: Premium HD Hydraulic & Transmission Fluid Features Multi-Viscosity 10w-20 Fluid Suitable For Year-Round Use, Non-Foaming w/ Outstanding Anti-Wear & Extreme Pressure Protection For Highly-Loaded Gears, OE Approved Formulation & Additive System

Thanks for making these videos on your tractor. They've already helped me out big time. I bought the same model and I have no clue how well the previous owner took care of it. I've only had it for a few weeks and my hydraulics just stopped working; the arms won't lift at all. I guess I'm going to change the hydro/trans fluid and clean the filter to see if that helps. Any other suggestions?
Fiat Voluntas Tua unfortunately without being there its hard to say. Definitely check your control valves (what you use to make the bucket move), pump, and filter. If all of those are good it’s possible it could be a bad seal in your piston. The actuator arm that lift the bucket. Good luck and let me know how it comes out.
TRANS SCREEN cleaning will most likely solve every problem. When my 3pt stops working it is at fault. You think that it is broke. Just lack of maintenance. 3 times in 40 years.

There is 4 drain plugs on it 2 at the weels 1 fror the front weel drive shaft and 1 at the bothen where te geare's are.

How much litres oil take the transmission?
A PT belt on the ROPS?
