    "I am more of an intuitive person. I don´t need science, I don´t need facts. When I feel something is right, I believe in it or I just choose to believe in it because it helps me."
    Hmm, I don´t think I can support that statement. I definitely agree that intuition can give you messages that cold, hard facts can´t. However, blindly accepting what your inner voice tells you is right is not what I think chasing your intuition is about. After all, some part of us is still determined by our environment and what we believe is right is not often what is actually good for us, but what past coping and defense mechanisms drive us to want. I believe there is a middle ground to be found there; there is listening to your heart, but then also checking with your environment (and science!), really letting your brain spend some time with the idea. It is this type of a more active evaluation of ourselves that can save us from making choices too quickly, and from mindlessly believing in pseudoscientific approaches like that interpretation of body fat seems to me.

      And this is why there are people who feel good after doing something clearly very bad from other point of view.
      Progress happens more effectively when we take a bigger picture in consideration.

      Part of us which is controlled by the environment is not intuition...once you get in touch with your intuition...you will realise how powerful it is...i have taken all the decisions intuitively which scientifically were out of my hands but i was able to do it...but it is very difficult to get in touch with your intuition so i would suggest to stick yo your logical brain if you are not sure of your intitution...all the major scientists like Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla believe in intuition. There are a lot of studies shown that a lot of mammal species have a very strong initiative brain so infact it is possible for humans to have intuition as well...

    Hi Aileen! I've been a fan of your channel for a good few years now and I really enjoy your creative spirit & calming personality. That said, the points you brought up about fat + health caused me concern. Certain people carry fat in different ways, and this is not indicative of their mental or physical health. Sometimes a lessening of stress does indeed result in weight loss (this happened to me! I lost weight! But not all of the weight. I lost the weight my body thought I ought to lose at that time), but not always. Bodies looking different is natural and good, and not an indicator of work that needs to be done. If a person feels that their body is not best serving them for the life they want to live, then it is perfectly fine for them to do that work. If their body serves them well, that is a good body, even if that body is fat. (Shocker!)
    I will continue to watch your videos with caution, although if you continue expressing things like this I may not, as they are harmful for me to hear. I am sure you meant no ill will by expressing these ideas, because on the surface they can seem quite pleasant. So I'll just offer a gentle suggestion: have you listened to Lizzo? She is someone who possesses an incredible lightness and generosity of spirit, which seems to directly contradict the teachings you repeated here. Also, she makes incredible songs, so you owe it to yourself. :)

    Wow, after leaving a comment, I just clicked on the link in the description to illness causes according to Louise Hay. It includes an endless list of things like claiming Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease one is born with, is caused by a “poor me” attitude. What cruel and ignorant things to say to people who have to work so hard everyday to just live. If anyone watching would like to follow a TH-camr with a similarly bright spirit but who has realistic beliefs about health and illness, I recommend Jessica Out of the Closet.

      Louise Hay's philosophy runs far deeper than that. Getting the whole picture before making such a defensively motivated judgement is key. There's also such a thing as inherited trauma, which is being studied currently. Epigenetics and the links between our ancestors and us (physical, emotional and spiritual) and how they affect our health, our lives -- we are learning more and more about that.

    • @booksinbed
      @booksinbed 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Véronique LaChatte I am sure there is more to Louise Hay’s ideas, as she has written books, but in the comments of this video I have to work with what Aileen read from and linked to. She is responsible for that. And honestly, the only defense I can imagine for the things written there- like deafness being caused by a desire to not hear the truth- is that it’s actually a list of metaphors for stories, and not any kind of theory about real life. Epigenetics is real, the mind-body connection is real, you can inherit trauma. None of that points to claims like an ingrown toenail being caused by guilt, or polio being caused by jealousy.
      Yes, my comments defensive. They are in defense of the chronically ill and disabled. Being sick is not a character flaw or emotional failing. Sadly, I personally cannot subscribe to someone who spreads such a hurtful belief.

    I have been a big fan of your videos for a long while, but I very much agree with other commenters that this mindset on physical illness is very worrying. Your outspoken support of people like Louise Hay and Marianne Williamson is concerning to me, as both of these women act as if physical illness (some of which, like Cystic Fibrosis and Muscular Dystrophy, are GENETIC diseases) has something to do with "mindset" and that being "negative" causes these illnesses. This is such a dangerous idealogy. While I do believe that it is so important to work on mental well-being, especially when suffering from a physical illness of any kind (and I would actually love to see you talk more about that on the channel and perhaps include the voices of some people who are doing good work in the mental health field while living with chronic illnesses) to state that these diseases are caused by thinking "poor me" is just wrong. I hope that you will do some more research on how damaging these beliefs are, because you are otherwise doing such wonderful work and I really want to keep supporting you and the community you've built here.

      It's not just about mindset, but it's about the burdens and traumas that your spirit carries (even from past lives). This topic is totally spiritual and I understand not everyone will believe or understand it. That's okay. Regardless, the point of these lessons is to heal from our old traumas, suppressed emotions and the like.

    I don't have fat because of anger issues or anger of not being nourished....my metabolism has jus started slowing down as I get older and I don't excercise as much as I should...I think that saying that it comes from emotional issues perpetuates the stigma & mindset this world has that "if you're not losing weight, it's you're fault and something is wrong with you". In some cases, yes, you can do things to lose weight, but not everyone has the motivation to work out as much as they should and other people have health problems or genetics that prevent them from losing weight. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that blaming it on emotional or mental problems does not help, it only adds to the stigma and shames those who would like to lose weight, etc.

    • @sinuchaudhur9905
      @sinuchaudhur9905 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a scientific reason behind it...not all the fat is because of it but if you are constantly angry and in fear i.e. if you have anger issues it will be difficult for you to lose weight...search it

    • @sinuchaudhur9905
      @sinuchaudhur9905 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is your problem if you just start linking it to other things and not researching about it properly...this is an old idea...and in old times ppl were very active and they exercised a lot...they even lost their genetic fat they exercised so much...so the only reason left was that you are angry...it come from there

    Aileen, I know you think that we don't have to take big responsibilities about other people's lives, but you have 888.000 followers and, if this number means something, it means that you are responsible for the content you put on your channel. The two websites you linked spread wrong and dangerous medical beliefs. This is serious, please at least remove those links. I am in my sixth year of medical school and I've been following you for 4 years, I firmly believe that this kind of content puts you in a bad position, when you're such a good person. I know you wanna do good, but there are sensitive people that trust you and, to be honest, we don't need more disinformation about health. You are a wise person and you can believe what you want, but you don't really know how this content could affect some of your followers. I really care about you and this channel, please just accept that there's a lot you don't know about medicine, that author was totally insane. Also, you should make a post or something to make clear your point: your sensitive followers deserve some clarifications.

    The problem is not what Aileen believes or not, but spreading something that can be misunderstood . I did a bit of research about Louise Hay and she used to say very dangerous things like that she cured her cancer only with positive thinking and affirmations. Imagine someone who needs to have treatment and gives up because it's so expensive and the person thinks that she can heal her disease with positive thinking too. I know that Aileen wouldn't deny treatment, even if she is a spiritual person and believes in this list of symptoms. But to another person who doesn't have knowledge it's so much easy to believe this and give up taking medicine, because it's cheaper to buy a book. I think Aileen should put a disclaimer or something because she has 889K followers, and with that comes responsability. It's like saying a politician doesn't have to take responsability for the impact of his words, no he is a public person and he chose to do this.

    Thank you for sharing this and inspiring us to not be afraid to grow and change. Feeling stagnant is so damaging and definitely easily leaves us feeling unfulfilled. I don't agree on us having the responsibility over our friend's behavior if they're doing wrong though, we're only ever responsible for our own happiness imo. But I definitely believe that we should set and stand by our boundaries and know we're being responsible of our own happiness by respecting ourselves and not letting people do us wrong. ❤️ Thanks again for inspiring us to reflect and be true to ourselves.

    I just read the letter I wrote 3 years ago for my future self which is me now, i was really surprised to be honest, since then till now there were a lot of things going on, I was a totally different person growing up from her, I accomplished some goals I had back then, I understand life more, I accept and love myself more just like you said in this video,I loved me just because I’m existing, I’m alive, I stop hanging my worth on external stuffs such as likes, others reactions, useless opinions ,what they would think of me if I do this and this and that, I stopped dreaming and start doing more and gained more courage and confidence, I started taking care of my body seriously , I tried many ways step by step and believe in my feelings, her feelings, what feels right in my body,that’s the right way to walk and it amazingly did a huge impact, the newest change in my life is I stop looking myself externally like the beautiful look or accomplishment, I look deeper deep down to the directions in life and living them. Thank you for always being our inspiration and reminding us to love ourselves, love you Aileen ❤️❤️❤️❤️

      Ur totally right . We have to look inside our souls and be worthy and embrace the little thing that we have .our health our relationship our family .and we have to be glad of every experience that we had .caz every single experience learned us a new things .and however these experiences they do a change in ourselves .the bad one teach you a lesson that it will change your mind and make you more careful in what u do in ur life.on the other side the good ones will help you to know your worthy and this is a change by itself ..so we have to be happy and grateful for everything .and accept the changes in our life.

    WARNING!!! This video is very triggering regarding weigh loss and reasons for weight gain and weight loss! Do not watch if you are struggling with self hate and fatshame!
    I just want to give my view on this body image thing. I think that when you put labels on fat in that way that hip fat, thigh fat and bellyfat (just to name a few) all means negative things you are doing the world an unservice. Because now you decided that fat is something bad and that it has to go because it is a sign of being unwell and basically a sign of suffering from a number of problems.
    I personally think that this leads to body shaming people that have fat on their body and saying that they need to get rid of it to let go of negativity in their lives.
    We should celebrate all of our bodies and not label them good or bad. I know plenty of people at normal weight that are suffering from trauma. Should we really tell them to loose weight?! This seams really unhelpful! Who and what decides if a person has too much trauma and therefor needs to loose fat on their body?! People that are supermodels has never been through hard times then or did they just work through their trauma before they became models? If they go through trauma while beeing models will they just gain weight back on?
    This is just how I see things and I think it is really tragic that Eileen is telling people she needs to loose weight when she is obviously at a normweight. And then justify it with a book. This just has negative influence on young people. Well if you just have to work trough your problems to loose the weight why would you go on a diet? Make no sense to me at all I'm afraid.
    And of course everyone is allowed to their own opinion and Eileen has the right to change her body however she likes. I just wanted to give my alternative opinion for people to read.

    I think your mindset is absolutely beautiful. I am a bit concerned at how you freely expressed that you would follow intuition more than science. Even if science states opposite, you would follow intuition because it feels right. That is dangerous in itself. We need to have a balance of both. Science is used for a reason, to limit human error, intuition is just what follows after being presented with the facts.
    I am not saying I completley disagree. The reason being, emotions do play a significant role in our body processes. But there are scientific evidence as to why people store more fat than others.
    I respect your videos, continue working hard. 😊

I think the biggest change that has occurred is not caring so much what other's think (especially my parents, although I still need to improve) and trying to walk to the beat of my own resonance (if that makes sense). I felt a huge win just yesterday when an old friend was talking about how she really wants another baby. I've always wanted children and it's always been my biggest dream, a kind of "when I get there I'll be happy" thing. Yesterday when she asked if I could relate my answer became "I love my life the way it looks right now and I feel fine waiting a few years." I've never been able to feel like that before and it feels huge to have found that much confidence and gratitude for where I am, which is all thanks to the changes I've taken to come here, and being okay with changes in the future.

    I hope people will pay attention to the words "I choose to believe it even if it's not scientific" or something like that. It's Aileen's choice to believe in those things, this doesn't mean they are true, and she made clear she's aware of this. You don't have to believe it too.
    I know Aileen doesn't care about criticism, I only hope she'll eventually understand that non-scientific ideas sometimes are funny (like tarots, astrology, crystals, numerology), but antiscientific beliefs that are health related are just dangerous.
    ps: I have more fat in my thighs too, and that's because I spent 6 years on my chair studying medicine. DNA and lifestyle influence your body fat, nothing else!

      Federica T I don’t agree with your statement. Since you have studied medicine I understand where your beliefs comes from. Most of the medical profession thinks the same. They don’t see a mind body connection. Deep seated beliefs in us that stem from childhood, do affect us as people. Just because these things can’t be scientifically proven, doesn’t mean they are not true and don’t carry weight.

      I honestly don't see this as something said out of love. More like a need to be right. Science is still evolving. We are discovering new things every day. It amazes me how unwilling people in the medical field are to accept that they don't know everything.

    Thank you for sharing Aileen! 💗💗 In my case too the way I think about my body and relationships with other people has changed a lot and is now much healthier. I think I have learned so much about life in general even though it all seems small on its own, when I actually look back on me one year ago, I realize how much I have grown both inside and outside. I love that you're sharing more of your own personal journey and your perception, it's inspiring!

    Hi Aileen ❣️❤️. I have changed alot as a person and iam working on being authentic as u said brutally honest with myself and others .
    I don't do anything if I don't feel like it.
    I take more challenges and take any opportunity to grow out of my comfort zone.
    I have failed in the competition I took part in but if I was my older self I would have just denied the next opportunity but hey I have again participated .
    And s we all are changing and I don't know how u r aware of every single thing about yourself
    So so inspiring 😇😇.

      I hope people will pay attention to the words "I choose to believe it even if it's not scientific" or something like that. I love Aileen and this channel, but I think her beliefs about tarots, astrology, crystals, numerology or alternative medicine don't fit the smart person she is. I know she doesn't care about criticism, I only hope she'll eventually understand that antiscientific ideas sometimes are funny, but most of the time are dangerous.

    • @ana-mh4yt
      @ana-mh4yt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      i wouldn't label it as fatphobic, especially since we heard the context of her words which was that she felt insecure because of her bigger thighs/belly. I didn't hear her say that having more weight on you is bad in its essence, she simply stated her relationship with her body at that time and how it made her feel, as well as how she came to terms of loving her body either way it looked. I advise you looking up the book she referred to and reading the connections it makes with mind & body. it is not that far from science as you might think.

    You are often a very positive influence, and that has attracted a lot of viewers (like me!) to your channel. But that means you have power and responsibility. What you have said about fat in this video is both incorrect and dangerous. You’re spreading the idea that less fat equals greater health, and not only physically, but emotionally. You even switched from saying “I have” to “You have” in the middle of speaking about this. I have had a life experience where more fat meant improved health. If I attached an emotional meaning to fat, it would be security and vitality. It means something different to me than you because fat by itself has no emotional meaning or cause! However, society likes to push one. Many people struggle terribly with the idea that all fat is bad or that it represents a character flaw. I have seen that incorrect idea dramatically damage health and lives. I 100% believe something like that would not be your intention. Please be careful what you share.

    How can you possibly trick your own mind to believe something you reasonably know it's not true??? It sounds like you're trying to fool yourself, it's not an healthy relationship with your brain, it just cannot last. You'll eventually understand that you're literally silencing your rational part.
    I didn't expect to hear this sort of advice from a person who is very fond of knowing oneself. This is unhealthy.
    And we're not talking about religion or philosophy, we're talking about human physiology, something people have studied for thousands of years and they still do, as technologies develop. You know, at the very end this is really disrespectful towards people who invest their lives to make your world a better world.
    Actually, this also applies to birth charts, tarots and so on. Not everything that's in a book is true. It requires discipline, observation, cooperation, commitment and, most of all, a lot of brain to say "this is how it works". It's very presumptuous to think that science and truth are relative. Even if you had bad experiences with physicians, the majority of doctors and scientists are hard workers and put all their energy to do meaningful work for humankind. Science is science, faith is faith. There's no place for personal beliefs in science.
    I want to leave you with this: search on the internet for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. It's a cognitive bias that many of us have: when you don't have the tools/education/background to understand something, you don't even realize you don't understand it, so you make errors. You just can't question certain things since you don't know the basics.
    To realize we have this bias and to work on it, is a form of self-improvement too. You could make a video about that, as you say, there's always space for improvement: change is the only constant!

      There is a scientific study done on this...you can trick your mind into believing in certain things through subliminals , affirmations, etc...you reach a state of mind called theta and you reprogram it...100 percent scientifically proved

      About intuition.. legends like Albert Einstein Nikola Tesla Stephen Hawking and many more scientists believe in intitution. there are a lot of studies conducted that mammals have intuition. our brain is very powerful it is only that today's copy paste scientists saying that these things do not exist. science is an ongoing process and there are a lot of things which are to be discovered. once you get in touch with your intuition which is very difficult you will notice why people believe in intitution.

    The talk about emotional baggage made me realize that there are some things i need to forgive. Fats are physical, and it’s something you can see when you gain or lose them. But emotional things that has been building up in my mind, is not physical. Yet it bothers me so much through out my life. I realized that those emotional baggage are just like fat. You can either think of them as a burden and live your life being bothered. Or learn to love and live alongside them. There’s also a choice getting rid of them to lessen the burden. Only you can choose, because it’s your body, your mind, your life. You decide how to live.
    Wow I’m really pouring my thoughts out here. Thankyou Aileen, I love that you always put some new perspective into the table💖

    Just wanna add that fat can come from all kinds of reasons and some people just have more fat than others. I have big thighs and no I had no issues with my father. It's just the place my body prefers to store fat. And there are stressful times where I carry more of it and there are more good times where I carry less of it. You do intermittent fasting not because that's good for your body, you do it because you want to look a certain way. And that probably comes from a general belief in our society that thinness means often worthiness. And that's just not true. We are all worth it. We all have the right to get treated with respect. If you want to listen to your body then check out Intuitive Eating. It's learning to stop fighting your body and to reconnect with it. AND plus point: it is backed up by science. Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch did a fantastic job write their book about it.
