ok i shouldn't really need to emphasize this But please do the proper amount of testing or you will have a unstable system this includes but not limited to glitching, app crashing, possible data corruption, computer instantly turning off when put under load and more. Please spend the time to do the required testing it should only take a day or two to dial in a stable tune After completing all of the tuning open task scheduler and add applycurve batch file you created from testing to launch at login with highest privileges Also also the -0.04 curve in the mpt isn't universal if you aren't stable at that or are experiencing crashes/glitches/display corruption please consider reducing the curve

3:55 I have used an Anker A8385 with a OneXplayer 5700U / Vega 8, a GPD WIN 4 6800U / 680M and now the Asus G15 5980HX / 6800M. With the laptop I use the adapter in conjunction with an A2617. It's working fine. Thanks for the vid.

This is one of the best most informative videos ive ever seen im not sure if it is applicable to my asus advantage with 5900x and 6800m g513 but i might at least try because my cpu runs at 93c often
thats actually still decent mine hits 97 under a full load which is probably due to the stock pastejob on my machine i managed to get it under control by turning off boost since machine is very loud at those temps if you require some information regarding the repasting please consider looking through the threads created in the #asus channel in the discord server youll find a low more than just repasting resources

i did use your method to overclock my memory, set now to 3400 with 20 21 21 21 52 timings, couldnt get 3600 with decent secondary timings to stick. with my gpu overclocked and ive gone from 11800 to 12000ish. didnt do anything with the cpu since every time i tried setting the cpu several times to end up blue screen, so am satisfied with the memory and gpu changes. tested for 2 days now and seems pretty stable.

I will join as i have an overheating issue i went to AMD to see what the max temp was on the Ryzen 9 - 5900hx and it is 105C, when using turbo the fans are at max and the CPU at 104-106@@kickskii i have used power management to bring down the temps but it is running know around 2,7ghz - I know i could undervolt but then it would void the warranty - I was having a go with manual mode in armoury crate, i wonder if you guys have a stable curve i could use! Im only recently really getting into PCs and am loving the adventure so far! Question, I will be getting a new monitor soon for my G15 AE and camt decide between the LG C2 48" or the LG Ultra Gear 48". They're both amazing 4K panels that are OLED and very color accurate. I was leaning towards the LG C2 because it has a glossy finish instead of matte and I want to play in a dark room, however after noting from your video that I should get a USBC to display port and not USB-C to HDMI cable I am reconsidering. Would there be any way to connect the USBC to HDMI on the LG C2 without losing FreeSync or HDR? The LG C2 is also a better value price wise and i would still really love to get it, but if I have to pay more for FreeSync I will. Also the ultra gear does go to 138hz when overclocked vs. only 120 Hz on the C2.
My friend has a c2 oled He tried multiple type c to HDMI cables to try and get freesync working one of those cables did show up with vrr supported but it didn't actually work so unfortunately no freesync over type c to HDMI

A highly underated video for all G15 users, thanks a lot mate. Just a quick question if u find time to answer. How to enable the Graphics turning menu in AMD application? After following all steps mine only shows CPU tuning and for Graphics i only have AMD smartaccess memory toggle.
I think you might need access to UMAF with Supress IF patcher for ram tuning so i wont promise anything on that end ill upload that on the drive after this message as for curve optimizer you will be limited to all core curve offset instead of per core offset dude to your processor not being an unlocked one so to do that i would recommend you use g helper(its a complete armourycrate replacer and i heavily recommend using it over armourycrate) and use the "undervolting" slider in that tool with max power profile on the cpu and after that you can run core cycler to test stability on all cores as for tuning the gpu you can consider flashing a vbios if needed or using afterburner I cant say for weather pbo will work but ill let you try that out for yourself the pbo limits should be similar to the ones I have and if you wanna research pbo limits I'd recommend looking for 5800x and 5700g

Awesome guide. If you want a bit of advice that may work: ram at 3733 or 3800 seems to work on other 5000 mobile setups, but you may need GDM on then. Is this Micron rev E? Maybe I missed you saying it. As for timings (I use advice anta777 gave to me, I see you yse his TM5 profile) you can probably run RC a 60-65. RP can probably be lower unless this is Hynix CJR/DJR, but I doubt that since you have Crucial. RRD and FAW is very important for gaming, but dors little in aida. FAW is always 4xRRDS so you could try 5/6/20. RTP often works good at half WR. Maybe 20 WR/10 RTP will work and is faster or 18/9, 16/8. Odd RTP does not work with GDM on. RDWR can usually be half CL, especially if CWL=CL, if CWL is below you may need hogher RDWR. RDRDSCL and WRWRSCL usually works best at 4.
Good advice Also according to typhoon burner this is micron n die idk what that means but i would guess it's laptop and not made for overclock i recently tightened rrd and faw so I'm running a 4 6 16 I reduced RTP to 12 cause even number And rdrdsd 4 and wrwrsd to 6 Tested with anta777 absolut and then just gave it a few runs of y cruncher for good measure Seems stable enough I also turned off powerdown mode(for some reason i had turned it on earlier) That's where i landed currently it takes absolutely forever to test it and I'm not a fan of waiting Probably might mess with rc in future if i have time but for now i guess it's good enough

I know the Crucial ballistix 3200cl16-18-18 1.35v so-dimm uses rev E, I thought they used that most of the time. I think I have figured out the problem with power down mode: it lowers ramspeed, fclk, uclk by demand to save power, but it doesn't always clock up when needed. My prevoius ryzen laptop had ramspeed downclocking a lot due to this. I consider a lenovo ideapad 5600H with 3050 I found cheap, but some say they have locked down the options to use the bios edit app. Do you know anything about that?

Your stock ram Timespy scores at 6:28 are higher than my Timespy scores even after i upgraded to 32gb 2rx8 haha. Are yours higher because youre connected to an external monitor? does that have an effect on timespy?
my stock RAM Timespy Score in manual mode maxed out: 11082 my upgraded RAM Timespy Score: 11254 My bios is 320 though. Was your BIOS 316 during the test at 6:18 ? thanks!
@@gaston7484 having a external monitor helps with timespy but the score i showed was not from an external monitor The bios version on that timespy was 318 as it was still pretty much a out of the box g15 advantage(other than the ram i bought it from a store and just replaced the ram sticks in there itself) Your score still is in average territory so nothing to be concerned about with regards to that
as of writing i have moved over from the usb C to dual HDMI hub i got a 3440x1440 144hz display so i bought a usb C to DP1.4 cable the monitor has a powered USB hub on the back so i got one connecting to my spacemouse and one to daisy chained usb hubs for everything else if you wanna check out my current setup you can look at it in the #setups-sharing channel if you join the discord to get more context on how i run my setup
Latest amd drivers wont have locked the tuning tab. So MPT wont be able to unlock them settings. But can u change the frequency, voltage and power from MPT?
Ppt tables are locked but voltage still works I recommend installing amernimez drivers with 23.5.2 kernel with mpt workaround to still use Morepowertools to tune the GPU I'll update the discription with the information

I understood almost nothing about the RAM overclocking segment. Its the part im most interested in since I bought the 32gb set of kingston fury... Could you perhaps explain that on detail in another video? I dont get hex values at all. I think I won the silicon lottery since without any overclocking (and I only have an external monitor + the upgraded RAM) the highest TimeSpy score I got was around 11,700. I want to OC my RAM since I know it will give an excellent performance boost, but I just dont get it.

that is alot of work to get 300 extra points in overall score. if it was maybe 1000 points higher i would jump on this, but i would not see any real life difference between my 11807 and your 12191, good video but the end results are not really much higher. i upgraded the ram to faster timings, but still on laptop monitor, swapped ssd to a faster model. and swapped wifi to ax210
I went from 11600~ to 12370 max also laptop feels overall better to use So it was worth it for me Tho it's bin dependant on how far you can push it Most of the point improvement is on cpu score which is weighted less in timespy vs GPU score
i went from 10200 cpu score to 11000-11500 cpu score(depending on when i throttle) and 11750 graphics score to 12400-12500 graphics score i call this an absolute win especially cause im effectively getting more value out of the machine i bought even if its not too noticable having a higher upper ceiling would just mean raising my lower ceiling also the curve values play highest role in the mid frequencies anyways so im getting much better performance on lower voltages
@@kickskii thats pretty impressive, i did alot of windows tuning, running the benchmark in realtime etc. i actually get 14300 max in cinebench, i think i got the jackpot on the cpu. but my benchmark gpu score is slightly under yours. i didnt go for cl20 memory. i went for the crucial memory with the best secondary timings. if i could opt for any changes and was possible to safely do with this machine, i would attempt to overclock the memory only, if i had a usbc connector i would like to see my results also on a connected monitor

Doing the CPU offsets, will this allow the CPU to draw less power and stay cooler on this chip? I have the 5900x in my desktop and got amazing results with the curve optimiser and doing each individual core offset but also applying an across the board -0.1 voltage offset. Would applying the -0.1v offset cause instability in this laptop? my build is 5900HX, RX8600M, stock ram. No tuning.

I don’t think I’m good though, my question mostly has to do with your below 9500 score threshold and whether thats an overall score or the cpu score only. My cpu score is oddly lower than most people saying they have poor performing machines. My cpu temp stays at 95c pretty much the whole time I’m in mw2, literally immediately shoots to 90-95c and hovers at 95-96 with a gpu temp of 85c and junc temp of 100c. It’s hitting that 95°C threshold at 30 W and 4.2 GHz.
@@glitchy8429 that low cpu score is due to your ram If im correct you have a samsung ram kit thats 1r x16 with the model number ending with a cwe or something like that That's a very slow ram kit that holds back the cpu quite a bit
@@kickskii yeah your definitely right. Bought the gskill 3200 16gbx2 and the crucial 16gbx2. I seem to get better scores with the gskill but more consistent frames with the crucial. From what I can tell the gskill is 2rx8 and crucial 1rx16, i.e. gskill has 16 small chips total(8front and back) and crucial has 8 large chips(4 front and back). Tried so hard to find the recommended but couldn’t. Any particular reason why the crucial seems to do better even though it has lower 3dm cpu scores? Gskill is like 90-140fps while crucial is 115-135fps. Am I tripping or should I just go by the scores? Lol
@@glitchy8429sorry for the late reply But it's probably a specific game that prefers single rank over dual rank There are cases like this since single rank usually have slightly better memory latency than dual rank dimms but in 99% of the cases you'll find dual rank dimms to be better

Hi, Thank you for all your support for us users. Just wondering how to reduce the cpu temps as i find it way too high. What was your starting point for under volting under curve optimizer? I noticed but changing boost 200mhz to 0 made a huge difference in temps though.
you can go into power settings and set manimum processor state to 75% which should give you a massive improvement in temps at the cost of some amount of clock speed from turbo
I got the skin from a website called gadgetshieldz i searched for Rog strix g513 skin and that's the result that came up first on the web after looking through some reviews on TH-cam for their stuff i ended up ordering it I bought camo for top right and hex for bottom left and fabric for the palm area It came with cutout that goes on the trackpad too but i removed it and that's the stuff you see on the lid
If you're using the strix g15 advantage edition (model g513qy) you can output video from the laptop via the USC c port through a usb c to display port alt mode adapter You can get upto max of 3 external monitors connected making it a 4 display setup if you count the laptop screen too for that you would need a usb c to dual hdmi converter(this will disable freesync on those monitors due to signal conversation or smth) and third via the built in hdmi port The type c is directly linked to the dGPU and will give you better performance compared to if you just used the hdmi port If you have a different model idk
Only limitation on this setup would be the bandwidth limitation on the dp alt mode dual hdmi adapter thingy that's connected via via the usb c port I was able to run two monitors one at 1440p@75hz and 2nd at 1080p@120hz but wasn't able to run at 10bit color due to bandwidth limitation and it overall felt quite like a janky setup
Hi, everytime I change bios or GPU bios I have problem with windows 11. Windows start without problem but then I can start anny program or use menu icons. Just need reinstall windows. Any idea? Also I change gpu bios and after reinstallation of windows its back to stock.
Hi, I'm completely new to this topic of OC, so this is probably a silly question, but is it necessary to do all OC from the bios? For RAM I think there is no other option, but for CPU I can just use Ryzen Master to create a higher clocked profile and only enable it when I need it? Same goes for GPU and Afterburner? I have BIOS v331, so I have no idea what it's like in terms of performance and I don't want to downgrade it unnecessarily. What do you think about using the DRAM calculator for Ryzen v1.7.3. I tried it on my desktop computer, will it work well with this laptop?
Sorry for the late response. You aren't utilizing all the OC settings from the BIOS, but most of it is available there. It's just quite convenient, and we lack the tools to edit RAM speeds on the fly, as you might on a PC. Ryzen Master doesn't work on mobile, and the alternatives, in my opinion, fall short when compared to it. They essentially serve as front ends for RyzenAdj, which is a command-line utility. In my opinion, it's good enough to use RyzenAdj directly; I personally don't like the front ends. Maximum clock speeds and ViD (Voltage ID) settings are also locked down, so you can't achieve additional clock speeds beyond the +200MHz you can get from using PBO. (Oh, how I wish I could limit it to 1.35V instead of the current maximum of 1.5V.) Furthermore, BIOS version 331 reduces maximum performance by around 5-10% due to lower maximum fan speeds. The DRAM calculator is only suitable for Trfc conversion from value to nanoseconds here; In the context of mobile devices, its broader utility is restricted due to differences in hardware and the need for voltage adjustments, which render many of its features inapplicable. You might want to consider joining our Discord server for any questions; I tend to be more active there.
I don't have the same radeon window as you do. my laptop radeon software just only shows the overclock option and smartshift option. Also my laptop turns off automatically while I'm playing a game

Great video. I have the same machine as yours. I broke my screen so I have been trying to source a new screen. Got the 1440p screen by it's "compatible" and not the real deal so I am missing out on freesync premium. I chose to go with the 1080p screen from sharp w/ 300 MHz which I think is probably a better choice since I was running games at 1080p on the 1440p screen anyway. The EDP cables are different so I am waiting for the 300 hz edp cable now sigh. Just wondering - I have been using AMD APU Tuning Utility for core offsets. What are your thoughts about it? It's more of a shotgun approach as opposed to curve optimizing each core. I am stable at -20 on all cores. Another thing I have noticed w/ this laptop is that the bus clock is never 100! If i try to force to be get to 100 - it actually makes things unstable. Not sure what that's about. Regardless kudos on the video. I'll probably tune my CPU based on your guide once i have a working screen.
i dont like AATU merely clicking the Adaptive Performance button completely wreaks havoc on my machine making it completely lag out like no tomorrow also the new UXTU has per core offsets but the snowdrop thingy that applies power profiles applies stuff i dont want it to touch at a mere click(idk about recent versions since i used it like 5 months ago formed an opinion in my head that it sucks and never touched it again since i can do everything i need from the commandline anyways) AATU only has an all core offset and i cannot run it since my core 6 doesnt wanna be stable at basically anything i havent looked into modifying the BCLK mine's at 99.5-99.9 so i dont think i need to mess with that please do give me links to look into if you have some that can modify the bus clock
What i meant by that was if you have a higher co offset on the initial cores like 0,1,2,3 you can turn off cppc cause that'll make windows not prioritise the cores that are set for priority out of the factory like in my case 5,6,7,4 etc and use those in ascending order of their number

yes initially when the laptop released the core clocks were able to go up to 2600mhz but maybe because some silicon wasnt able to achieve it they released a vBIOS patch that reined in the boost clock by a bit which fixed those issues some people were having there mightve been other patches/reasons as well but thats what i know and its just speculation honestly but it is something that happened

I was also wondering what your opinion is on raising the combined tgp of GPU and CPU from the 190 max in armoury crate to something higher like 200 or something? I noticed armoury crate calls it platform SPPT. I've found that when the GPU kicks in, the clockspeed of the CPU goes down, which makes me wonder if increasing the platform SPPT would increase overall FPS. What is your opinion on this? Is it safe for the motherboard? Is there a way to do this? Thank you.
@@kickskii How bro I was wondering if there's any difference between the FCLK that you set to 2000 in GPU versus the FCLK that is in the BIOS? Are they the same thing? I know that the infinity fabric clock of the memory(FCLK) is supposed to 1:1 to the memory clock(MCLK) in many ram overclocking circles. But is that the same FCLK in the morepowertool that you set to 2000? Or is there another FCLK when it pertains to GPU?
Remove space from the directory name so if it's "g15 toolbox" you change it to "g15aetoolbox" and if the final core cycler batch file isn't working then you relink it with the one if the same name under "/tuning/bin/core cycler" you can see which one by opening properties for it

Absolutely, I even use windows 10 as my primary operating system since windows 11 wasn't letting me throw my taskbar on the top of the screen(i know it's a minor inconvenience but I'm used it being on the top) also you can delete the TPM driver on windows 10 without the risk of breaking anything in case you're having tpm stutters

I am thinking of buying the laptop but I am not sure how I would get freesync work with my Samsung TV (I will be using it solely to play games) If I connect the laptop directly to TV via HDMI its not going to bypass integrated GPU and if I use converter USBC to HDMI I will not get Freesync then?
Using the hdmi port can let you have freesync And a converter isn't going to let you have freesync from my experience anyways Honestly the information is so scattered regarding what let's freesync work and what blocks it i would not be surprised if it turns out to be just a cable thing

Would you suggest me to only downgrade the BIOS to 316 without changing other things, and if yes, how can I block windows updates to upgrading again the BIOS?
After windows update updates the bios Go into device manager and look for "firmware" open settings and click the rollback button giving the reason that older version worked better This may or may not flash the older bios version on the next reboot but after that you should disable "firmware" from device manager This will let you freely move around between bios versions without triggering an update

@@danielerizzi3172 i use manual mode on full tilt for doing stuff like benchmarks and all that i usually use a custom manual tune on a reduced wattage for daily use to have lower temps while doing stuff like gaming doing these is actually raising the upper ceiling you have on performance so you can run lower wattage with a higher performance since that would also scale with it, well thats how i see it anyways, join the discord if you need help theres people that can help you out and answer your questions quicker i didnt get a notif for your follow up and only saw it cause i thought i'd double back just in case

It'll automatically finish itself in 5 hours when doing a full cycle If it throws out a pink looking error you know it failed and on which core it failed
It takes ~9 minutes per core there are 8 cores and it will cycle through 4 times this it will take 288 minutes if it runs longer than that then look through the command prompt window for errors and note if there are any or the lack of and close it
I accidentally didn't look at what CPU you had, and i noticed after applying some stuff, that you have 5980HX and I have 5900HX, Now my CPU is stuck around 1GHz most of the time, even if it's idling on 3GHz I start up a game and it goes down to around 1,65GHz and some games do not even go till the login screen just crash after loading a bit. I hope you can help me because I am lost on what to do.
Hey man! I have the same G15 AE model for a year now but since late April it has been showing overheating problems up to the point where it shuts down (even while in silent mode). I ran some test on the AMD app and it gets up to +90c and even +95c sometimes. I don’t really know much about pc’s, specifications, etc… but I’ve seen other videos and I’m thinking on reapplying Liquid Metal but i would also appreciate if you got any recommendations. A repaste should fix that You should consider getting ptm7950 for the cpu and gpu and ux pro putty for the vrms MOSFETs and vram Come join the discord there's people with the g15ae there as well and they'll be able to guide you in case you get stuck while doing the reapplication
Hey dude, I see you on reddit giving out great info and tips and I've saved this guide while I'm gathering new ram (the ram it came with has bad sub-timings) a new SSD and a new wifi card...and I'm going to sit down and do your guild from beginning to end. But I have one question I cannot find the answer to no matter how hard I look for it...HWinfo64 reports PCIe v4.0...I want to get a PCIe 4.0 nvme like the 980 pro or something like that but I'm seeing soany people say that it only supports PCIe 3.0 speeds... Would it be a waste to go for 4.0 or stick with a 3.0 drive? You're literally the only person I can find that actually knows what the hell he's doing. I've got the same laptop with the 5980hx. You're the only person I can think of to ask. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm tech savvy, but I've never seen such conflicting info around this (great) laptop.
You should consider buying a cheap gen 4 SSD since that's backwards compatible with gen 3 it will cap out gen 3 speed and would be cheaper than buying a high end gen 3 drive Both SSD slots are the usual pcie gen 3x4 slots
Hello, I have a problem with my g15 and was hoping you could help me. It was switching off as if someone just disconnected the power when gaming or doing cpu/gpu intensive tasks but only when the charger is connected. I figure it is a heating problem or a power supply problem, do you have any suggestions for it? In my armoury crate it shows "Extreme power saving" for gpu as you mentioned in the video.
Update: I called for an onsite technician visit and that great guy spilled the thermal paste all around my gpu. It still managed to turn on but the gpu is dead. In BIOS it still shows the name and even in GPU-Z, but thats all that it does. Task manager, armoury crate or even the amd graphics software doesn't show it. In GPU-Z, it shows "Unknown" for the specs and Memory size 0
@@user-kk7tt7zi9s well i have good news and bad news good news is the issue you were having is because of overheating and shouldve been able to be solved perfectly by repasting bad news the technician that "spilled the thermal paste" basically killed the motherboard since the laptop doesnt actually use Thermal Paste it uses Liquid Metal which is electrically conductive in nature so at this point you might need a motherboard replacement

@@kickskii Well then its fortunate that I had my warranty extended when I bought the laptop. Everything will be sorted, it will just take some time. The "Extreme Power Saving" and not showing gpu stats in the armoury crate was an issue I had even prior to all this mess. Lets hope they fix this bug in future updates. I was also suspecting that shutting down problem was caused due to some overclocking problem, maybe it crossed the voltage threshold or something, although I never changed anything related to those things. @@user-kk7tt7zi9s No not really, the shutdown problem was due to simply overheating, the overclock is just a +200mhz from pbo controls which should not cause that issue in fact it cant cause vcore is locked anyways, i recommend using ghelper instead of armourycrate, it does the same stuff you use armourycrate for but does it in a program that 1 you dont need to install 2 is literally 5 megabytes versus like the 5 gigabytes that armourycrate install held the last time i used it

Tried to follow your guide - stuck on radeon software, there is only option for cpu overclocking and its enabled. Even if i press default it still enabled after restart. From GPU part in tuning only smart access memory option. What I am doing wrong? or i can skip this?
btw if youre on latest aka 23.3.2 morepowertool isnt working on that version so it wont bring up sliders if you apply mpt also if cpu overclocking button doesnt work dont worry you can safely skip it and boot directly into formbrowser as for why its saying "overclocked" even after clicking default its most likely a bug in radeon software feel free to proceed without doing that part come to discord you can get help better there
No you do not need a external monitor to all of it You'll see the benefits even without one Just that you get more GPU performance when using the external display thing cause you bypassing the igpu but I'm pretty sure you know all that

Great video/guide thanks alot. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind: Firstly I ordered the Crucial 32 gig RAM upgrade using the serial/model # from your screenshot in the video. It came as a single 1 x 32 gig stick from which I replaced 2 x 8gb. I received a measurable improvement in overall performance using it. Would using both slots have been measurably better at least in theory...i.e. is it now only doing single instead of dual channel? Second question/issue: After loading your GPU settings into MPT this worked just fine and is persisting and I received a measurable improvement from it...however using Adrenalin (latest v22.11.2) I cannot seem to get the Max GPU frequency to apply when I try to go to 2600mhz or any number past 2500...when I click Apply the UI auto trims the slider back to 2500mhz....in MPT it says Max=2600. nice! so for ram you wanna make sure you ordered CT32G4SFD832A not CT2K16G4SFRA32A yes they look similar but the SFD832A model is garunteed to be 2rx8 but the SFRA32A is a lottery. yes using both slots will be better also having dual rank memory will be better on top of having dual channel memory theyre are different things so as a gist of it dual rank dual channel memory will work like quad channel single rank memory sure thats oversimplifying it but thats the gist of it as for your second question when you apply gpu clocks move the minimum clocks up so you wanna do max 2600 min 2000 apply drag minimum back down to 500 and apply again this is how yo set it so it uses 2600

It used to be in the really old driver but to have that tab you either use that really old driver which wouldn't game very well or use amernime drivers which are custom drivers for amd gpus That tab is usually meant to be on desktop cards
To what extent does the CPU power draw go when running a CPU heavy game like Cyberpunk 2077 ater you applied these changes? I have the 5980HX model, in CPU only tasks the CPU reaches above 80 watts without any manipulation needed but when it comes to combined CPU/GPU tasks like CPU demanding games, the CPU doesn't go beyond 55 watts even if I use the laptop in a very cool room with temps never reach higher than 77C and turbo mode enabled in armory crate. Does your tunning help bypass this factory limit in CPU/GPU combined tasks?
It depends on the game and is handled by smartshift if you're holding 77c then in assuming you turned off turbo boost The total power available to both the cpu and GPU is 190w during workloads longer than 1-2 minutes and it's usually the GPU thats the reason cpu doesn't hold more than 45-55w during the gameplay Turbo from armourycrate is complete shit btw create a manual profile for different things you want to do with your own fan curves

Can I undervolt the CPU with AMD Form Browser? When playing my games on 1080p limited to 60fps, I generally keep temps under 71-75 C by changing the power settings so that the CPU does not increase clock speeds more than 3.3 GHz. If I lower graphics settings in games I can get 65 C or lower. This is with the fans at half speed as well. I think that is decent but I am wondering if it is possible to undervolt so that I can get slightly cooler temps. Also, could I get a new link to the Discord server? The one in the description does not seem to be working.
the core Vid's are locked so you cant do much other than curve optimizer in terms of reducing voltage limiting clocks is smart since CO works basically like reducing voltage if you limit clocks you can do CO from formbrowser as well but i do not recommend it since doing it from windows is safer and does not require a bios reset if you screw something up heres an updated link discord.gg/skRVz49MvP

Applying the mpt profile no longer unlocks the sliders in wattman(tuning inside and software) Applying it is still beneficial since it gives a performance uplift due to undervolting still working but if you want top performance you will have to use an older driver like 23.3.1
I bought ugreen type-c hub with hdmi 2.1 and 3 usb A and it works, as the same as your cable without freesync, but it works with 144 Gz in 1440p. If I use type-c - DP I will have 165 Hz with freesync in 1440p
I followed your guide and was able to tune my GPU and gain about 5~6% performance increase. However when I tweak the ram (2x 16gb 3200mhz Kingston) with AMDUniversalFormBrowser, after saving and reset, reboot it keeps booting into ezflash, I have to resort to reflash bios to get into the system. What did I do wrong, or is the setting 3600 too high for my ram?
Your timings are too tight try setting looser timings You can reset bios by holding power button for 60 seconds Do not copy my timings you'll have to find timings that work for you by yourself

no, not at the moment, there's a beta that uses HiPrt to render in blender but i havent tested it out optix is still way faster im assuming also cuda dominates vfx currently mostly rendering and stuff, tho video editing is fine on premiere tho idk about after effects cause i dont use it but im guessing some plugins might require cuda im a 3d modeler by profession and i had to change so much of my workflow cause i bought this laptop so in case you willing to mix some stuff up then go for it i wouldnt give it a 100% recommendation but i made it work so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ up to you
its up to you honestly the newer drivers have faster rt and more game optimisations but lack support for Wattman so you would be restricted to 2500mhz max clock when attempting to use morepowertools the voltage tuning will go through however please do not be alarmed when the tuning ui in adrenaline ends up doing nothing the driver in my toolbox is an old driver which was very well liked in the discord when i got the device for a long while and is my fallback in case i screw something up or require good battery life you can also use amernimez drivers(they go by radeon.ID now) with the 23.5.2 kernel and get access to wattman that way

I described the change in the description of the video You need to use driver version 23.3.2 or anything before that to unlock the sliders Any thing past 23.3.2 does not allow for over clocking but the voltage offset still works

you will be bandwidth limited so even if it is possible to run two displays using the one usb c port(using a dp alt mode connector) it wont let you run extremely high refresh rates due to bandwidth thunderbolt docks dont exactly work btw

There's actually a fan lottery on this device Bios 316 has uncapped fans so it just goes to the fans maximum potential We have had a few people on the discord have 7800rpm fans and a couple that only did 6200 at most Speaking of discord I highly recommend you join it there be people (including me) who you can directly talk to and have discussion in case you are confused about anything and get better understanding on the matters Also I have a lot of useful material I gathered after making this video in threads in the #asus channel in the server
updating vbios is sorta permanent you can technically downgrade it from linux but i just dont recommend touching it cause it might brick the card with the only way out being a rma

Yes Once you finish up with all cores you should test them again(this time with curves on each of the cores) since having curve values on all cores CAN shift CO on the cores you figured were previously stable

After flashing your mpt file the max frequency clock is locked to 500mhz . Tried many things like increasing min freq above 2500mhz but as soon as i click apply changes the max freq changes itself to 500Mhz. Driver - 23.2.2 Also the cpu 0.2ghz offset option is gone from tuning option
delete sppt reapply mpt have curve of 0 do not change voltages from inside adrenaline software also cpu option going is expected itll be available if youre connected to external display via usb c try this also dont try to change VRAM settings only thing thats not locked from vbios is the core clocks so feel free to mess with those
its cause smartshift you gotta reduce that from armourycrate for it to matter interesting fact about that tho it seems to improve gl performance if you have that at 165 vs on 135 while using less power and making heat idk why but i found that out to be interesting while running furmark opengl it only used 135w when in mpt it was set to 165 and was way below throttle holding 2525mhz clock no problemo while setting it to 135 in mpt caused it to make more heat for some reason and consume more power both gave same results could be due to power scaling table or something while vulkan behaved as it should not showing any such weirdness my recommendation leave it at 165 in mpt and change platformppt from armourycrate

The reason i want to lower the tgp is because my gpu will severely thottle when i reach around 90C hotspot, monitoring with hwinfo once it reaches 90c my clock speeds, voltages, and wattage will all tank basically to 0 for a split second, even my cpu is effected by it. Does that seem normal? I was under the impression a thermal throttle will just slightly lower clocks decreasing performance, not tank my whole system. Im forced to use lower gpu clocks speeds like 2100mhz and lower voltage. It doesnt seem to like anything above 145 watts for longer than a couple minutes.
@@tyler6971 its hitting 105 on the junction temp you got two solutions you can run platform ppt of 160 instead of 190 or alternatively you could seek asus and get a repaste on your system which would let you hold 190w consistently
@Skii My junction actually sits around 80 when full tilt. I found the problem, "thermal throttling (HTC) and thermal throttling (PROCHOT EXT)" was being activated. Apparently, it was neither gpu or cpu, something on my mainboard was overheating and causing a system wide cool down effect. I took my laptop apart and repasted everything and it's running flawlessly now! Unfortunately my gpu Hotspot is running a bit hotter but it's still not throttling. I'll fix again when I'm not lazy lol. Thanks for your help!

ok i shouldn't really need to emphasize this But please do the proper amount of testing or you will have a unstable system this includes but not limited to glitching, app crashing, possible data corruption, computer instantly turning off when put under load and more. Please spend the time to do the required testing it should only take a day or two to dial in a stable tune
After completing all of the tuning open task scheduler and add applycurve batch file you created from testing to launch at login with highest privileges
Also also the -0.04 curve in the mpt isn't universal if you aren't stable at that or are experiencing crashes/glitches/display corruption please consider reducing the curve

Ryzen runs hot. I did a total repaste and applied new thermal pads and my CPU still runs @90c.
thats actually still decent mine hits 97 under a full load which is probably due to the stock pastejob on my machine i managed to get it under control by turning off boost since machine is very loud at those temps
if you require some information regarding the repasting please consider looking through the threads created in the #asus channel in the discord server youll find a low more than just repasting resources

Yeah do 3dmark and cinebench and check if they fall within average range
i did use your method to overclock my memory, set now to 3400 with 20 21 21 21 52 timings, couldnt get 3600 with decent secondary timings to stick. with my gpu overclocked and ive gone from 11800 to 12000ish. didnt do anything with the cpu since every time i tried setting the cpu several times to end up blue screen, so am satisfied with the memory and gpu changes. tested for 2 days now and seems pretty stable.

Im only recently really getting into PCs and am loving the adventure so far! Question, I will be getting a new monitor soon for my G15 AE and camt decide between the LG C2 48" or the LG Ultra Gear 48". They're both amazing 4K panels that are OLED and very color accurate. I was leaning towards the LG C2 because it has a glossy finish instead of matte and I want to play in a dark room, however after noting from your video that I should get a USBC to display port and not USB-C to HDMI cable I am reconsidering. Would there be any way to connect the USBC to HDMI on the LG C2 without losing FreeSync or HDR? The LG C2 is also a better value price wise and i would still really love to get it, but if I have to pay more for FreeSync I will. Also the ultra gear does go to 138hz when overclocked vs. only 120 Hz on the C2.

He tried multiple type c to HDMI cables to try and get freesync working one of those cables did show up with vrr supported but it didn't actually work so unfortunately no freesync over type c to HDMI

After following all steps mine only shows CPU tuning and for Graphics i only have AMD smartaccess memory toggle.
Its currently bugged in version past 23.3.1 you can use 23.3.1 and below to enable the tuning options in adrenaline by applying the mpt file

I think you might need access to UMAF with Supress IF patcher for ram tuning so i wont promise anything on that end ill upload that on the drive after this message
as for curve optimizer you will be limited to all core curve offset instead of per core offset dude to your processor not being an unlocked one
so to do that i would recommend you use g helper(its a complete armourycrate replacer and i heavily recommend using it over armourycrate) and use the "undervolting" slider in that tool with max power profile on the cpu and after that you can run core cycler to test stability on all cores
as for tuning the gpu you can consider flashing a vbios if needed or using afterburner
I cant say for weather pbo will work but ill let you try that out for yourself the pbo limits should be similar to the ones I have and if you wanna research pbo limits I'd recommend looking for 5800x and 5700g

Awesome guide. If you want a bit of advice that may work: ram at 3733 or 3800 seems to work on other 5000 mobile setups, but you may need GDM on then. Is this Micron rev E? Maybe I missed you saying it. As for timings (I use advice anta777 gave to me, I see you yse his TM5 profile) you can probably run RC a 60-65. RP can probably be lower unless this is Hynix CJR/DJR, but I doubt that since you have Crucial. RRD and FAW is very important for gaming, but dors little in aida. FAW is always 4xRRDS so you could try 5/6/20. RTP often works good at half WR. Maybe 20 WR/10 RTP will work and is faster or 18/9, 16/8. Odd RTP does not work with GDM on. RDWR can usually be half CL, especially if CWL=CL, if CWL is below you may need hogher RDWR. RDRDSCL and WRWRSCL usually works best at 4.

I know the Crucial ballistix 3200cl16-18-18 1.35v so-dimm uses rev E, I thought they used that most of the time. I think I have figured out the problem with power down mode: it lowers ramspeed, fclk, uclk by demand to save power, but it doesn't always clock up when needed. My prevoius ryzen laptop had ramspeed downclocking a lot due to this. I consider a lenovo ideapad 5600H with 3050 I found cheap, but some say they have locked down the options to use the bios edit app. Do you know anything about that?

Your stock ram Timespy scores at 6:28 are higher than my Timespy scores even after i upgraded to 32gb 2rx8 haha. Are yours higher because youre connected to an external monitor? does that have an effect on timespy?

The bios version on that timespy was 318 as it was still pretty much a out of the box g15 advantage(other than the ram i bought it from a store and just replaced the ram sticks in there itself)
Your score still is in average territory so nothing to be concerned about with regards to that

Latest amd drivers wont have locked the tuning tab. So MPT wont be able to unlock them settings. But can u change the frequency, voltage and power from MPT?
Ppt tables are locked but voltage still works
I recommend installing amernimez drivers with 23.5.2 kernel with mpt workaround to still use Morepowertools to tune the GPU

I think I won the silicon lottery since without any overclocking (and I only have an external monitor + the upgraded RAM) the highest TimeSpy score I got was around 11,700. I want to OC my RAM since I know it will give an excellent performance boost, but I just dont get it.

i went from 10200 cpu score to 11000-11500 cpu score(depending on when i throttle) and 11750 graphics score to 12400-12500 graphics score
i call this an absolute win especially cause im effectively getting more value out of the machine i bought even if its not too noticable having a higher upper ceiling would just mean raising my lower ceiling also the curve values play highest role in the mid frequencies anyways so im getting much better performance on lower voltages
@@kickskii thats pretty impressive, i did alot of windows tuning, running the benchmark in realtime etc. i actually get 14300 max in cinebench, i think i got the jackpot on the cpu. but my benchmark gpu score is slightly under yours. i didnt go for cl20 memory. i went for the crucial memory with the best secondary timings. if i could opt for any changes and was possible to safely do with this machine, i would attempt to overclock the memory only, if i had a usbc connector i would like to see my results also on a connected monitor

Doing the CPU offsets, will this allow the CPU to draw less power and stay cooler on this chip? I have the 5900x in my desktop and got amazing results with the curve optimiser and doing each individual core offset but also applying an across the board -0.1 voltage offset. Would applying the -0.1v offset cause instability in this laptop?
my build is 5900HX, RX8600M, stock ram. No tuning.
core voltages are locked on the laptop chip unlike on desktop so curve optimizer is the only option afaik

I don’t think I’m good though, my question mostly has to do with your below 9500 score threshold and whether thats an overall score or the cpu score only. My cpu score is oddly lower than most people saying they have poor performing machines. My cpu temp stays at 95c pretty much the whole time I’m in mw2, literally immediately shoots to 90-95c and hovers at 95-96 with a gpu temp of 85c and junc temp of 100c. It’s hitting that 95°C threshold at 30 W and 4.2 GHz.

If im correct you have a samsung ram kit thats 1r x16 with the model number ending with a cwe or something like that
That's a very slow ram kit that holds back the cpu quite a bit
@@kickskii yeah your definitely right. Bought the gskill 3200 16gbx2 and the crucial 16gbx2. I seem to get better scores with the gskill but more consistent frames with the crucial. From what I can tell the gskill is 2rx8 and crucial 1rx16, i.e. gskill has 16 small chips total(8front and back) and crucial has 8 large chips(4 front and back). Tried so hard to find the recommended but couldn’t. Any particular reason why the crucial seems to do better even though it has lower 3dm cpu scores? Gskill is like 90-140fps while crucial is 115-135fps. Am I tripping or should I just go by the scores? Lol

There are cases like this since single rank usually have slightly better memory latency than dual rank dimms but in 99% of the cases you'll find dual rank dimms to be better

you can go into power settings and set manimum processor state to 75% which should give you a massive improvement in temps at the cost of some amount of clock speed from turbo

I got the skin from a website called gadgetshieldz i searched for Rog strix g513 skin and that's the result that came up first on the web after looking through some reviews on TH-cam for their stuff i ended up ordering it
I bought camo for top right and hex for bottom left and fabric for the palm area
It came with cutout that goes on the trackpad too but i removed it and that's the stuff you see on the lid

If you're using the strix g15 advantage edition (model g513qy) you can output video from the laptop via the USC c port through a usb c to display port alt mode adapter
You can get upto max of 3 external monitors connected making it a 4 display setup if you count the laptop screen too for that you would need a usb c to dual hdmi converter(this will disable freesync on those monitors due to signal conversation or smth) and third via the built in hdmi port
The type c is directly linked to the dGPU and will give you better performance compared to if you just used the hdmi port
If you have a different model idk
Only limitation on this setup would be the bandwidth limitation on the dp alt mode dual hdmi adapter thingy that's connected via via the usb c port
I was able to run two monitors one at 1440p@75hz and 2nd at 1080p@120hz but wasn't able to run at 10bit color due to bandwidth limitation and it overall felt quite like a janky setup

Hi, I'm completely new to this topic of OC, so this is probably a silly question, but is it necessary to do all OC from the bios? For RAM I think there is no other option, but for CPU I can just use Ryzen Master to create a higher clocked profile and only enable it when I need it? Same goes for GPU and Afterburner? I have BIOS v331, so I have no idea what it's like in terms of performance and I don't want to downgrade it unnecessarily. What do you think about using the DRAM calculator for Ryzen v1.7.3. I tried it on my desktop computer, will it work well with this laptop?
Sorry for the late response. You aren't utilizing all the OC settings from the BIOS, but most of it is available there. It's just quite convenient, and we lack the tools to edit RAM speeds on the fly, as you might on a PC. Ryzen Master doesn't work on mobile, and the alternatives, in my opinion, fall short when compared to it. They essentially serve as front ends for RyzenAdj, which is a command-line utility. In my opinion, it's good enough to use RyzenAdj directly; I personally don't like the front ends.
Maximum clock speeds and ViD (Voltage ID) settings are also locked down, so you can't achieve additional clock speeds beyond the +200MHz you can get from using PBO. (Oh, how I wish I could limit it to 1.35V instead of the current maximum of 1.5V.)
Furthermore, BIOS version 331 reduces maximum performance by around 5-10% due to lower maximum fan speeds.
The DRAM calculator is only suitable for Trfc conversion from value to nanoseconds here; In the context of mobile devices, its broader utility is restricted due to differences in hardware and the need for voltage adjustments, which render many of its features inapplicable.

I don't have the same radeon window as you do. my laptop radeon software just only shows the overclock option and smartshift option. Also my laptop turns off automatically while I'm playing a game

Great video. I have the same machine as yours. I broke my screen so I have been trying to source a new screen. Got the 1440p screen by it's "compatible" and not the real deal so I am missing out on freesync premium. I chose to go with the 1080p screen from sharp w/ 300 MHz which I think is probably a better choice since I was running games at 1080p on the 1440p screen anyway. The EDP cables are different so I am waiting for the 300 hz edp cable now sigh.
Just wondering - I have been using AMD APU Tuning Utility for core offsets. What are your thoughts about it? It's more of a shotgun approach as opposed to curve optimizing each core. I am stable at -20 on all cores.
Another thing I have noticed w/ this laptop is that the bus clock is never 100! If i try to force to be get to 100 - it actually makes things unstable. Not sure what that's about.

i dont like AATU merely clicking the Adaptive Performance button completely wreaks havoc on my machine making it completely lag out like no tomorrow also the new UXTU has per core offsets but the snowdrop thingy that applies power profiles applies stuff i dont want it to touch at a mere click(idk about recent versions since i used it like 5 months ago formed an opinion in my head that it sucks and never touched it again since i can do everything i need from the commandline anyways)
AATU only has an all core offset and i cannot run it since my core 6 doesnt wanna be stable at basically anything
i havent looked into modifying the BCLK mine's at 99.5-99.9 so i dont think i need to mess with that

What i meant by that was if you have a higher co offset on the initial cores like 0,1,2,3 you can turn off cppc cause that'll make windows not prioritise the cores that are set for priority out of the factory like in my case 5,6,7,4 etc and use those in ascending order of their number

yes initially when the laptop released the core clocks were able to go up to 2600mhz but maybe because some silicon wasnt able to achieve it they released a vBIOS patch that reined in the boost clock by a bit which fixed those issues some people were having there mightve been other patches/reasons as well but thats what i know and its just speculation honestly but it is something that happened

I noticed armoury crate calls it platform SPPT. I've found that when the GPU kicks in, the clockspeed of the CPU goes down, which makes me wonder if increasing the platform SPPT would increase overall FPS. What is your opinion on this? @@kickskii How bro I was wondering if there's any difference between the FCLK that you set to 2000 in GPU versus the FCLK that is in the BIOS? Are they the same thing? I know that the infinity fabric clock of the memory(FCLK) is supposed to 1:1 to the memory clock(MCLK) in many ram overclocking circles. But is that the same FCLK in the morepowertool that you set to 2000? Or is there another FCLK when it pertains to GPU?

its cpu fclk and it automatically syncs based on ram speed so you dont need to worry about taht

Remove space from the directory name so if it's "g15 toolbox" you change it to "g15aetoolbox" and if the final core cycler batch file isn't working then you relink it with the one if the same name under "/tuning/bin/core cycler" you can see which one by opening properties for it

I even use windows 10 as my primary operating system since windows 11 wasn't letting me throw my taskbar on the top of the screen(i know it's a minor inconvenience but I'm used it being on the top) also you can delete the TPM driver on windows 10 without the risk of breaking anything in case you're having tpm stutters

I am thinking of buying the laptop but I am not sure how I would get freesync work with my Samsung TV (I will be using it solely to play games) If I connect the laptop directly to TV via HDMI its not going to bypass integrated GPU and if I use converter USBC to HDMI I will not get Freesync then?
Using the hdmi port can let you have freesync
And a converter isn't going to let you have freesync from my experience anyways
Honestly the information is so scattered regarding what let's freesync work and what blocks it i would not be surprised if it turns out to be just a cable thing

I have this laptop and I use it for basic productivity starts (such as office programs and some streaming on youtube) and I would like to optimise the gaming performance, although I don't know a shit of informatics. I've already upgraded my RAM to 32 gig (16 x 2). Would you suggest me to only downgrade the BIOS to 316 without changing other things, and if yes, how can I block windows updates to upgrading again the BIOS?
After windows update updates the bios
Go into device manager and look for "firmware" open settings and click the rollback button giving the reason that older version worked better
This may or may not flash the older bios version on the next reboot but after that you should disable "firmware" from device manager
This will let you freely move around between bios versions without triggering an update

@@danielerizzi3172 i use manual mode on full tilt for doing stuff like benchmarks and all that i usually use a custom manual tune on a reduced wattage for daily use to have lower temps while doing stuff like gaming
doing these is actually raising the upper ceiling you have on performance so you can run lower wattage with a higher performance since that would also scale with it, well thats how i see it anyways,

It'll automatically finish itself in 5 hours when doing a full cycle
If it throws out a pink looking error you know it failed and on which core it failed
It takes ~9 minutes per core there are 8 cores and it will cycle through 4 times this it will take 288 minutes if it runs longer than that then look through the command prompt window for errors and note if there are any or the lack of and close it

I accidentally didn't look at what CPU you had, and i noticed after applying some stuff, that you have 5980HX and I have 5900HX, Now my CPU is stuck around 1GHz most of the time, even if it's idling on 3GHz I start up a game and it goes down to around 1,65GHz and some games do not even go till the login screen just crash after loading a bit. I hope you can help me because I am lost on what to do.

Hey man! I have the same G15 AE model for a year now but since late April it has been showing overheating problems up to the point where it shuts down (even while in silent mode).
I ran some test on the AMD app and it gets up to +90c and even +95c sometimes. I don’t really know much about pc’s, specifications, etc… but I’ve seen other videos and I’m thinking on reapplying Liquid Metal but i would also appreciate if you got any recommendations.

Hey dude, I see you on reddit giving out great info and tips and I've saved this guide while I'm gathering new ram (the ram it came with has bad sub-timings) a new SSD and a new wifi card...and I'm going to sit down and do your guild from beginning to end. But I have one question I cannot find the answer to no matter how hard I look for it...HWinfo64 reports PCIe v4.0...I want to get a PCIe 4.0 nvme like the 980 pro or something like that but I'm seeing soany people say that it only supports PCIe 3.0 speeds... Would it be a waste to go for 4.0 or stick with a 3.0 drive? You're literally the only person I can find that actually knows what the hell he's doing. I've got the same laptop with the 5980hx. You're the only person I can think of to ask. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm tech savvy, but I've never seen such conflicting info around this (great) laptop.
You should consider buying a cheap gen 4 SSD since that's backwards compatible with gen 3 it will cap out gen 3 speed and would be cheaper than buying a high end gen 3 drive
Both SSD slots are the usual pcie gen 3x4 slots

Hello, I have a problem with my g15 and was hoping you could help me. It was switching off as if someone just disconnected the power when gaming or doing cpu/gpu intensive tasks but only when the charger is connected. I figure it is a heating problem or a power supply problem, do you have any suggestions for it? In my armoury crate it shows "Extreme power saving" for gpu as you mentioned in the video.
Update: I called for an onsite technician visit and that great guy spilled the thermal paste all around my gpu. It still managed to turn on but the gpu is dead. In BIOS it still shows the name and even in GPU-Z, but thats all that it does. Task manager, armoury crate or even the amd graphics software doesn't show it. In GPU-Z, it shows "Unknown" for the specs and Memory size 0

good news is the issue you were having is because of overheating and shouldve been able to be solved perfectly by repasting
bad news the technician that "spilled the thermal paste" basically killed the motherboard
since the laptop doesnt actually use Thermal Paste it uses Liquid Metal which is electrically conductive in nature
so at this point you might need a motherboard replacement

@@kickskii Well then its fortunate that I had my warranty extended when I bought the laptop. Everything will be sorted, it will just take some time. The "Extreme Power Saving" and not showing gpu stats in the armoury crate was an issue I had even prior to all this mess. Lets hope they fix this bug in future updates. I was also suspecting that shutting down problem was caused due to some overclocking problem, maybe it crossed the voltage threshold or something, although I never changed anything related to those things.

@@user-kk7tt7zi9s No not really, the shutdown problem was due to simply overheating, the overclock is just a +200mhz from pbo controls which should not cause that issue in fact it cant cause vcore is locked
anyways, i recommend using ghelper instead of armourycrate, it does the same stuff you use armourycrate for but does it in a program that
1 you dont need to install
2 is literally 5 megabytes versus like the 5 gigabytes that armourycrate install held the last time i used it
I followed the ram part perfectly and now it doesn't even post at all. Keyboard lights come on, but it never makes it to the asus splash screen. How do i reverse it?

also if cpu overclocking button doesnt work dont worry you can safely skip it and boot directly into formbrowser
as for why its saying "overclocked" even after clicking default its most likely a bug in radeon software feel free to proceed without doing that part

They look really good and I was thinking of getting one before but was worried if the cover would hide the logo but looking at yours I believe it wont. Great video/guide thanks alot. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind:
Firstly I ordered the Crucial 32 gig RAM upgrade using the serial/model # from your screenshot in the video. It came as a single 1 x 32 gig stick from which I replaced 2 x 8gb. I received a measurable improvement in overall performance using it. Would using both slots have been measurably better at least in theory...i.e. is it now only doing single instead of dual channel?
Second question/issue: After loading your GPU settings into MPT this worked just fine and is persisting and I received a measurable improvement from it...however using Adrenalin (latest v22.11.2) I cannot seem to get the Max GPU frequency to apply when I try to go to 2600mhz or any number past 2500...when I click Apply the UI auto trims the slider back to 2500mhz....in MPT it says Max=2600.

nice! so for ram you wanna make sure you ordered CT32G4SFD832A not CT2K16G4SFRA32A yes they look similar but the SFD832A model is garunteed to be 2rx8 but the SFRA32A is a lottery.
yes using both slots will be better also having dual rank memory will be better on top of having dual channel memory theyre are different things so as a gist of it dual rank dual channel memory will work like quad channel single rank memory sure thats oversimplifying it but thats the gist of it
as for your second question when you apply gpu clocks move the minimum clocks up so you wanna do max 2600 min 2000 apply drag minimum back down to 500 and apply again this is how yo set it so it uses 2600

In my AMD adrenaline software the Record & Steam tab and General tab in setting is missing but many people have those option. Do you know how to get those back ?
It used to be in the really old driver but to have that tab you either use that really old driver which wouldn't game very well or use amernime drivers which are custom drivers for amd gpus

To what extent does the CPU power draw go when running a CPU heavy game like Cyberpunk 2077 ater you applied these changes? I have the 5980HX model, in CPU only tasks the CPU reaches above 80 watts without any manipulation needed but when it comes to combined CPU/GPU tasks like CPU demanding games, the CPU doesn't go beyond 55 watts even if I use the laptop in a very cool room with temps never reach higher than 77C and turbo mode enabled in armory crate. Does your tunning help bypass this factory limit in CPU/GPU combined tasks?
It depends on the game and is handled by smartshift if you're holding 77c then in assuming you turned off turbo boost
The total power available to both the cpu and GPU is 190w during workloads longer than 1-2 minutes and it's usually the GPU thats the reason cpu doesn't hold more than 45-55w during the gameplay
Turbo from armourycrate is complete shit btw create a manual profile for different things you want to do with your own fan curves

Can I undervolt the CPU with AMD Form Browser? When playing my games on 1080p limited to 60fps, I generally keep temps under 71-75 C by changing the power settings so that the CPU does not increase clock speeds more than 3.3 GHz. If I lower graphics settings in games I can get 65 C or lower. This is with the fans at half speed as well. I think that is decent but I am wondering if it is possible to undervolt so that I can get slightly cooler temps.

the core Vid's are locked so you cant do much other than curve optimizer in terms of reducing voltage
limiting clocks is smart since CO works basically like reducing voltage if you limit clocks
you can do CO from formbrowser as well but i do not recommend it since doing it from windows is safer and does not require a bios reset if you screw something up

Applying the mpt profile no longer unlocks the sliders in wattman(tuning inside and software)
Applying it is still beneficial since it gives a performance uplift due to undervolting still working but if you want top performance you will have to use an older driver like 23.3.1

I bought ugreen type-c hub with hdmi 2.1 and 3 usb A and it works, as the same as your cable without freesync, but it works with 144 Gz in 1440p. If I use type-c - DP I will have 165 Hz with freesync in 1440p

I followed your guide and was able to tune my GPU and gain about 5~6% performance increase. However when I tweak the ram (2x 16gb 3200mhz Kingston) with AMDUniversalFormBrowser, after saving and reset, reboot it keeps booting into ezflash, I have to resort to reflash bios to get into the system. What did I do wrong, or is the setting 3600 too high for my ram?
Your timings are too tight try setting looser timings
You can reset bios by holding power button for 60 seconds
Do not copy my timings you'll have to find timings that work for you by yourself
Btw you need to set 1800 for 3600mhz cause it's in DDR and the value for frequency in the bios is in MT/S

the newer drivers have faster rt and more game optimisations but lack support for Wattman so you would be restricted to 2500mhz max clock when attempting to use morepowertools the voltage tuning will go through however please do not be alarmed when the tuning ui in adrenaline ends up doing nothing
the driver in my toolbox is an old driver which was very well liked in the discord when i got the device for a long while and is my fallback in case i screw something up or require good battery life
you can also use amernimez drivers(they go by radeon.ID now) with the 23.5.2 kernel and get access to wattman that way

You need to use driver version 23.3.2 or anything before that to unlock the sliders
Any thing past 23.3.2 does not allow for over clocking but the voltage offset still works

you will be bandwidth limited so even if it is possible to run two displays using the one usb c port(using a dp alt mode connector) it wont let you run extremely high refresh rates due to bandwidth

There's actually a fan lottery on this device
Bios 316 has uncapped fans so it just goes to the fans maximum potential
We have had a few people on the discord have 7800rpm fans and a couple that only did 6200 at most
Speaking of discord I highly recommend you join it there be people (including me) who you can directly talk to and have discussion in case you are confused about anything and get better understanding on the matters

updating vbios is sorta permanent you can technically downgrade it from linux but i just dont recommend touching it cause it might brick the card with the only way out being a rma

Are you referring to freesync? Since that's the only part that breaks when you do a displayport signal to HDMI conversion on the type c port

Once you finish up with all cores you should test them again(this time with curves on each of the cores) since having curve values on all cores CAN shift CO on the cores you figured were previously stable

Faster fan speed, but you can kind of do it on 331 as well if you use atrofac and set it to 120% from there and use ghelper for just power management

Tried many things like increasing min freq above 2500mhz but as soon as i click apply changes the max freq changes itself to 500Mhz.

it's in a zip file and should be roughly labelled g513qy bios I believe

My gpu doesnt seem to want to listen to my mpt wattage setting. If i set it at 145 in mpt it will still use up to 170-175. Any ideas?
its cause smartshift you gotta reduce that from armourycrate for it to matter
interesting fact about that tho it seems to improve gl performance if you have that at 165 vs on 135 while using less power and making heat
idk why but i found that out to be interesting while running furmark opengl it only used 135w when in mpt it was set to 165 and was way below throttle holding 2525mhz clock no problemo while setting it to 135 in mpt caused it to make more heat for some reason and consume more power both gave same results
could be due to power scaling table or something
while vulkan behaved as it should not showing any such weirdness
my recommendation leave it at 165 in mpt and change platformppt from armourycrate

The reason i want to lower the tgp is because my gpu will severely thottle when i reach around 90C hotspot, monitoring with hwinfo once it reaches 90c my clock speeds, voltages, and wattage will all tank basically to 0 for a split second, even my cpu is effected by it. Does that seem normal? I was under the impression a thermal throttle will just slightly lower clocks decreasing performance, not tank my whole system. Im forced to use lower gpu clocks speeds like 2100mhz and lower voltage. It doesnt seem to like anything above 145 watts for longer than a couple minutes.

you got two solutions you can run platform ppt of 160 instead of 190 or alternatively you could seek asus and get a repaste on your system which would let you hold 190w consistently
@Skii My junction actually sits around 80 when full tilt. I found the problem, "thermal throttling (HTC) and thermal throttling (PROCHOT EXT)" was being activated. Apparently, it was neither gpu or cpu, something on my mainboard was overheating and causing a system wide cool down effect. I took my laptop apart and repasted everything and it's running flawlessly now! Unfortunately my gpu Hotspot is running a bit hotter but it's still not throttling. I'll fix again when I'm not lazy lol. Thanks for your help!
