I absolutely love this content. I find it hard to catch up with all the combo / engines. I came back with master duel and tryna learn the whole thing. I run a dragon link and was actually interested in the Selene combo!
I am older-ish player who, since MD came out, got more serious about playing Yugioh, and this is really useful, both for knowing why/how certain engines work and are so good, and for knowing which engines exist
What I appreciate across all your content is that I click on your videos and it instantly begins with actual content, without any "hey guys", without any repetitive introm without stuff, just exactly what I expect after reading the explanatory title.

It won't come up often, but Selene's special summon effect is actually a Quick effect, so if you can get a ton of spell counters on it you can revive Spellcasters across multiple turns. You won't see this used much outside of Endymion decks (where you have tons of counters AND attack targeting protection), or situations where you need to play around Nibiru, in which case you can do things like bring out an Iris Swordsoul from hand or GY to mess with a summon on the opponent's turn, or banish something with Dark Magical Circle if you're on Dark Magician. Do note that the defense position requirement means you can't revive links this way(like the Spirit Charmers often used in an alternate link climbing method), but if you run the 2 main Spellcaster hand traps(Effect Veiler and Droll & Lock Bird) that generally isn't an issue.
This engine also works well with Tuning Magician in Pendulum Magicians, plus you wouldn't be forced to just target Effect Veiler and can be used as a nice combo extender for other combos.
If you already have Heavymetalfoes Electrumite in a Link Zone, you can use it for an ez starter too, and that deck plays a bunch of spellcasters anyways, so just go from Electrumite to Selene directly.
On Master Duel: if you have a card to negate accesscode effect and you see your opponent is going to accesscode, turn on the activation confirmation button. So you can negate his effects after his atk buff.
Yes! Turn it on immediately when you see the summon animation. The latest you can do it is the resolution of its attack gain effect. Doing this reverts its ATK to 2300 and stops it from popping your cards. Also works for Nibiru or any other interaction that you can use in an open game state.
you do realize that part of accesscode talkers effects specifically says the opponent cannot respond to either of it's effects so that won't work only card known that can negate accesscode are monster negate floodgates, like skill drain or fabled unicore. or a card that's not released yet called vera the vernalizer fairy goddess, which negates accesscode on resolution rather than activation
@@DarkSymphony777 bzzt bzzt wrong! it's true that Accesscode cannot be negated in response to it's effect activation, however if you have response set to "on" you will be given the opportunity to activate a quick effect negate like veiler or imperm on a new chain after Accesscode's atk increase chain has resolved.
@@DarkSymphony777 That only means you can't chain directly to them. You're still allowed to act on resolution, when priority is passed to you during the open game state between chains. You can do this by turning your toggle setting on.
@@yuujin8194 do you think you'll consistently have something like veiler or imperm in your hand or on the field consistently when accesscode talker is summoned
Thanks for this upload. I had most of these cards in my deck without knowing how to get them out because it was recommended to me. With the explanation now I understand it.
Please continue this series! As someone getting back into yugioh, when I look up decks online to try and make, I see a lot of link monsters in the extra deck. I know it’s a combo but I don’t know how or when to use it. Keep up the awesome videos!
Here's a tip, if you need to respond to accesscode, turn off auto response and use the manual option and you can activate a card that can negate effects either immediately after the card gains its atk, or after it destroys a card on the field. Just no chaining.
@@nacl4988 If I remember correctly the only effects you can use on inherent summons (normal, synchro, xzy, links)are effects that specifically negate summons
This will make it so you can start a chain with effect veiler when you try to negate accesscode. They can still respond to effect veiler with their own negate after you do so. So basically you still can't "respond" to accesscode by toggling on.
Corrections: It works with any Level 3 or lower Spellcaster Tuner, Effect Veiler just has the best effect It's a 5300 ATK Accesscode You DO need Halq materials, which means at least 1 other Tuner, but decks that would already play Halq will have other Tuners
I LOVE THIS. Explain more engines that are composed of cards that aren't archetypical, a series explaining groups of cards with strong synergies that don't say "play these together" explicitly would be greatly useful.
0:37 Is a 5300 Atk not 5400 4:40 Fun fact, if playing at @ignister deck you can use Dark Infant attribute changing effect to banish a divine link monster
You could also use Effect Veiler to go into Linkuriboh or Relinquished Anima at any point in the combo to get an additional destruction with Accesscode.
Yessss, I was looking up deck profiles for exosister and they all had selen and accesscode in the ed and I couldn't understand the reasoning. Thanks for this
Another way to use this combo, is to use any Link-2 Charmer (instead of Halq). As long as your opponent has the same attribute in THIER GY as a Link-2 Charmer you can summon, you can ~steal~ it with the Link-2's effect and go into Selene (because all Charmers are spellcasters). - However, in addition, you are dependent on having a spellcaster (ex. Droll/Vieler) in YOUR GY for Selene to summon. I've been using it alot in my Striker build, and it comes up surprisingly much more often than Halq. I use Aussa, Earth Charmer to steal Maxx C, which everyone plays in their deck
The great thing about going through a Charmer line is that it gets around Ash Blossom since you don't have to special from deck. You do have to watch out for Ghost Belle but I haven't seen that be played often. I run a lot of Light attribute hand traps(including Effect Veiler of course) so I've found Lyna to be pretty useful, you can even steal a Chixiao with it when going against Swordsoul, though if you're not running an Iris or something you probably won't have a Swordsoul card for it to banish.
If, in MD, you are stingy, you can use any Lv3 or lower [[Tuner]] Monster instead of the UR Effect Vieler, for example: Night End's Sorc who will banish 2 from the GY upon Selene summoning him. (R rarity) Effect Vieler is a very good investment tho, its the handtrap of choice alongside Ash and Maxx C in most competitve decks
Been using this since day 1 in Master Duel in Skystrikers. You easily get 3 spell cards in the GY and you have plenty of space to fit the required cards.
Pls continue this series. Ive just started master duel and engines are so confusing when im trying to make older archetypes viable. Ive been using bujin tri brigde and its fun but i want to try other decks.
almirag seems like the best card to POTENTIALLY get 3 pops as far as i can tell but other note is some other meta stable links that you may have used going first but not have on your second turn such as appolosa, skulldeat masquerena and the various knightmares so like this combo is good going second but even better for closing out on turn 3
The ruling is a little complicated, but basically Arboria doesn't "activate" to special summon itself, so using its condition to special summon it doesn't violate Sangan's rule about "no activating effects."
You can actually replace effect veiler with another card (that I don't fortunately remember) It's actually more beneficial since on it's summon of Selene it banishes two cards in your opponents graveyard. It's still a worse card overall since it's not a handtrap in addition but just a fun fact
Just in theory, I forgot about linkuribohs Attribute but if he’s another than halq and selene then you could use a one card engine such as blossom or 1.5 card engines like jet synchron/plaguespreader resulting in one more negate for accescode, aswell as switching one main deck brick/starter into an extra deck extender (linkuriboh)

it can get negated through it's summon or a card not released yet
