David is genuinely a wonderful artist and person, my wife and I drove from Virginia to Austin to catch him live at Saxon Pub late September 2017. Such a gentleman, and was wonderful to feel the power in his music and performance, would talk to you like he had known you all his life. An honor to meet him, love his guitar prowess, eagerly await his next release, thank you for this great interview!

Rick, hey man thanks for taking the time to write this. Yeah, David was awesome to talk with and really glad you enjoyed the interview - I did as well and he told me it was great for him also, so win-win on all fronts for everyone involved including listeners :-)

Ok , I'm late, late to the party . I grew up and live just a few miles from where David grew up but wasn't aware of him until mellencamp . It exciting to see someone from my area be successful and stay human . Lol , much success to u Mr Grissom .

Just finished listening to your interview with David. Firstly, it was a great interview. Your Q’s were great and insightful. You allow the interview to .. breathe.. and makes for a great listener engagement. Ty. I’ve played guitar for 40 yrs now. Just a downstairs hobbyist you might say. Loved the ARC Angels back in the 90’s and still listen to them a lot. Just in the last 6 mo that led me to Storyville and now DG. He sounds like a great person. Appreciate his sharing of his musical life and his personal life. So, thank you again for your interview. I’m a sub now and look fwd to more of your work. 👍🏽

Thanks Chad, really appreciate your kind words. I've had a number of players share their story about getting sober, I'll try and make a playlist for it on the front page of my channel. Give me a few days - take a look sometime next week, it should be up. Thanks for listening man.

Such a great interview, allowing David to speak bravo to you Sir! Great to hear such an intimate and interesting view on the man and his music. The fact that he chose to listen to himself and not his missus with the Storyville direction, deserves respect and proves that gut feelings made in the blink of an eye can still work out right. Thoroughly enjoyable and looking forward to listening to more of your interviews. Best Wishes.

What a wonderful interview! Long time Grissom fan, much respect, David opened up here more than I've ever heard. Thank you David for sharing, this really touched me. I was able to get a photo with him after a show at the Guitar Sanctuary in Dallas last year. I appreciated the time he took to talk with me, so humble and engaging. Looking forward to catching another show soon. God bless!

Now watching David on the Austin City Limits show in 1990 with James McMurtry was excellent. As is the video of David with Joe Ely.

I remember him with Joe Ely in the early eighties on I think it was Austin City Limits. Playing an early PRS and making adjustments on his Marshall on the fly. Thought it was great because you just don't see that kind of rawness anymore at least on the boob tube.

I never knew about how Mellencamp treated him. With the exception of "I need a lover", which I really love, I have never been a fan of Mellencamp or his music.
