Having been a professional bodyman most of my life, I have a critical eye when viewing a restoration. In this case your Dad has knocked this one out of the park. The car's fit and finish are superb. The attention to detail on panel alignment is impressive. His decision to embrace late model technology is uncommon among guys who grew up in his time line. The man's a real craftsman. HE IS ONE COOL GUY.

I went into the Air Force in late April of 1966. Your Dad and I probably marched past one another down at Lackland at some point. Love to find the 55 Chevy I sold before I went away. Local Pa. guy I sold it to got stationed in Oklahoma and drove it out there. Tell Dad he doing a great job. Fooling with cars keeps us old guys thinking young!

This was my very first car I bought. A friend of mine sold it to me for $10.00. It didn't run. I bought it when I was 15 years old. 1953 Chevy Belair, 2 door. My Dad got it running but it never ran right. This was in 1969 I bought it. I sold it for $50.00. I regret it. Thanks for the video. Sweet car.

When you said it had a different frame and ls engine I cringed, then I saw your work..... boy you did a nice job blending all those different generations of gm parts, the body mount set up on that frame looked factory. Congratulations sir, all that work to get the car back and in this condition more then paid off! Be proud of that car, most people couldn't pull off that kinda quality.

Much obliged Y'all. That there stirred up some fond memory chips, of the two '53,s I'd owned. First one bought from an off post car lot for $400. It was a 4 door that had been painted a light yellow over the original dark green. Had a hole in the driver's side floor board just big enough to drop beer cans through. A '73 record freeze @ Ft. Bragg had cracked the 235 block on the drivers side while I was going thru Recondo School Training. Upon return I bought a pint jar of liquid glass for $2 & trickled it in the radiator while running & it sealed the slow seeping crack, after only a few minutes. Sold it to the same fellow paratrooper who'd told me about curing the crack, for the same $400.
2nd '53 I've owned was an ivory over bronze 2dr Hardtop Belair in '76, that I'd traded my '68 Triumph Motorcycle for. Then a few months later bought the Triumph back for $600. Then a half a yr. later sold the '53 for 1k.
Currently my daily driver of the past 15 yrs. is a '53 5 window pickup with an overhauled '54 235 6 in it.
Tickles me when asked what year it is... I'll often reply back that it's one yr. younger than me & I'm a '52 model. ''Live in the Sunshine'' indeed Y'all. Cheers from Cowtown Texas!

NICE - I used to have a 1953 210 post that I had purchased in the 70's. I purchased it from a college student who had driven it from College in the mid-west to his home in upper New York State . He said it was such a pain to drive that he refused to drive it back to school and sold it to me. I had done an amateur restoration with a new black paint job (originally Surf Green) and drove it on sunny days for a few years. You have done a great job with yours.

I love this story. I bought a 53 chevy , sometime in the early 70s, paid $25 for it, pushed it home. Put a starter and a battery in it, fired right up. The headliner was in great shape, the clock worked and it only had surface rust on it. Now, the sad part of the story. I drank in those days, and lost the car in A POKER GAME.....PATHETIC.

That is a beautiful car, however I would never let anyone see it with those awful black tires and wheels on it.

The tires and wheels are just 'rollers' to pull it in and out of the shop. They're super ugly. There will be nice ones put on later. Stay tuned. Thanks for watching and commenting.
