I love these westerns. Truly was a golden age of movies. Everything today is garbage. ... the movie takes place in 1866, but everybody carries 1892 winchester rifles and 1873 colt revolvers ... so common in those days! 🤠

Really fantastic. I I wonder why the whole world talks only of Clint Eastwood. Of course he is superb but then there are so many other good western films. This one is a classic

Is it me or am I just an old fool. I past the 70 mark headed for the next decade. These were real movies with some substance in them. I grew up with Randolph Scott and used part of his name in my son's name. It seems people have forgotten what matters anymore. Us old folks move slow and seen to be in everyone's way. We have memories of better times. Don't misunderstand that I want to revert back. I want to see shows or programs which would continue to truths NOW?!?

Probably only a few folk in "Hollywood " left who know how 2 make decent Western these days. Robert Duval, Clint Eastwood, Kevin Costner. Cant think of any others at the moment.... there are also a couple of female Actresses that would add the glamour...? Annette Benning & our own Nicole Kidman. Obviously l am an Aussie. Can't think of any others at the moment...... maybe one or 2 others George Clooney & Mr Morgan Freeman. The next problem would be a gr8 Script..... we can only hope & pray.
This script was among the last things Horace McCoy wrote; he died of a heart attack that same year. McCoy is best known for his first novel, “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?”

I find it such a contrast. Life was so full of luxuries in clothing, buildings and furniture and so much good food yet the lack of electricity and cars made life so much slower. It is hard to imagine grown men riding around in a farm wagon pulled by trotting horses
I don't think this is a documentary on the living standards of the day....The thing I find interesting is I have never seen an "outhouse" in any movies set in the "Wild West".....you would think with all the "good food and wine" sooner or later they would need to use the Outhouse, wouldn't you think? but it seems not, they were a hardy bunch, weren't they?

My respect for that behavior cause a lot of so called stars try to be a celebrities till they close their eyes. Often without doing themselves any good with that behavior. Maybe he wouldn't want anybody to see him getting old and weak!? Maybe he wanted to enjoy the rest of his life with his wife and without stress? And maybe I simply didn't like him because of his face (small lips and looking a kind of unsympathetic/nasty)? I really don't know how to explain my former antipathy. It allows us to learn until the day we leave this world. Unfortunately 90% of the world population are not able to do so or simply don't want to learn. Sigh. that's a pity and a shame cause our world isn't able to withstand this any longer. 2) I also thank you for your very interesting intelligent answer. It's kind of funny too because I simply looove water melons. Have you ever tried a warm ripe one fresh from the field? I was really flabbergasted by the flavors many... sigh... too many years ago in Italy (although those melons taste good out of the refrigerator too). Please kindly allow me to ask if you disike other sorts of melons also? 2) I like cucumbers BUT I stopped eating them because a wise Thai woman said to me once that cucumbers are able to aggravate rheumatism and gout. Even if I don't have such diseases yet it is obviously in my genes. Believe it or not: Not eating cucumbers helped to feel a lot better on the joints of my fingers etc.p.p.. Unfortunately they are low calorie food (like water melons the content is mostly water) and would help not to gain more weight but c'est la vie! Better a bit more belly fat than stiff joints (in my opinion). 3) I absolutely cannot eat fish. As you I really tried all different sorts. But even the little cheeks of a cooked fresh sweat water trout makes me choke and vomit (although everybody says that those little pieces of white flesh taste less fishy than anything else from all fishes in the world). I'm even able to catch and process fish but simply not to eat fish. 4) A wise Austrian woman said once what she learned: You simply don't like to eat what your body doesn't need! Maybe that is true and that's why a lot of children don't like spinach (tastes like iron/rust to me). I like the short boiled leaves but not the chopped and cooked version. I also totally dislike beetroot. Tastes to me as if eating topsoil. On the contrary I love all other sorts of root vegetables. I would love to hear from you again. Thanks in advance. Wow , my dad used to watch this movie on our VCR. Dad said he saw this movie when it came out in the 50s. He really enjoyed viewing it.

The short, black haired Reno brother played as an Indian chief named Sitting Bull in a movie I watched not long ago.
You might also remember him as Santa Anna in "The Last Command".
