    Hi thank you for this video. My son is 10 years old and has ocular albinism. I have just started showing him some videos like yours so he knows he's not alone, and can see happiness and success achieved by others like him. Thanks so much!

    Great video and channel! I developed Iritis when I was 14 it caused visual impairment and light sensitivity. The treatment which was immunosuppressents and steroids caused me many more health problems. A local healer recommended cannabis and that healed my eyes! Still working on healing the affects of the medication though. I hope you don't have to use eye drops some can have terrible side effects.

    I have albinism. It effects my hair eyes and skin. I am also legally blind. I also have nystagmus. I find it really cool to see someone else with albinism because it is not very common in the USA or at least where I'm from. When it is time for me to live on my own I wonder about the basic things like driving or cooking.

    Thank you for making this video. Very informative. It's interesting that cloudy days are worst than clear sky/sunny days, as you said. How about your response to ambient temperature relative to your pigmented peers. Have you noticed anything in particular in terms of coping with cold or hot weather, sweating, fever? I realize that one thing is how and what you feel/sense heat and another is the actual body temperature. Thanks and congratulations for your channel. All the best.

    I actually was thought to have this condition when I was younger by my parents!
    compared to my twin sister, I was noticeably paler and blonder than her. I also am colorblind and have a prescription of 6.25 and 6.5 with a double astigmatism that cause my eyes to move sometimes.
    Obviously these qualities don't meet the symptoms of albinism, but when I was younger I was sent to a doctor to make sure =P
    Insightful video man!

    So u CAN see things but u can't see things from far away. Like u can read things up close but not far away?!

    • @samivayajd
      @samivayajd  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremy White Depending on the size of an object, the sharpness will vary. If I'm reading signs sometimes I can read them if their BOLD and the letters are distinctive. Other times I can SEE signs but cannot read them because the words aren't clear enough. Most of the time though i people begin to recognize logos and such. So I most likely CAN'T read the words 'SubWay" but because of the design of the branding I can tell what it is.

    What exactly does legally blind mean?? I've heard of it I just don't know what it is.?.?.

    • @samivayajd
      @samivayajd  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jahnoah furbert hey there! So, depending on which country you live in, there are various "standards" of visual acuity to deem a person recognized as visually disabled. That's what "legally" blind means. :) sorry I took a while to respond!

    Awesome! I have the same albinism as you, except it’s very mild because I have plenty of pigment in my skin! :)
    BTW being sensitive to the sun is a part of albinism called Photophobia. Just wanted to let you know.

    can you see things sharp up close? how close do things have to be? just found your video. it's great btw.
    also, did you say that light hurts your eyes?

    • @samivayajd
      @samivayajd  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Viviane Belladona reading distance with size 16 font to size 12 would be comfortable for me at about 4 inches from my face. Things are sharper when they are closer. And yes glare hurts.

    I found your video really interesting as I am writing a book where the main character has Albinism, and your video really helped give me some insight into the problems that people with the condition face, with their vision. I have a question for you too: Do you find it hard to read and write, or is it not so much of a problem? Thanks again for the video :)
    And oh, and by the way I love your artwork, especially the kanji hope sign in the background. I think you have a great talent there!

    • @samivayajd
      @samivayajd  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Wolf and Raven for reading yes it can be difficult to read normal print books because my eyes tend to fatigue easy. Electronic books are what I love. But reading papers for my job isn't that bad with normal sized print. Writing has really never been an issue for me. I'm an artist. :)

    • @wolfandraven891
      @wolfandraven891 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for replying :) You really helped answer my question ^^ Yes, I love your artwork and think it's really pretty and decorative, especially for someone with limited eyesight. You don't let anything stop you doing what you love! Thanks again :)

    Puerto Rico has the highest rate of albinism. The most prevalent type of albinism in Puerto Rico is the Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (HPS). HPS was observed in five of every six albinos in Puerto Rico. www.huckmagazine.com/art-and-culture/photography-2/pictures-albinism-puerto-rico-world-capital/
