In case it didn’t come across in the video, I'm not mocking the armed forces or anyone who serves/has served. Anyone who’s willing to put their life on the line to serve their country is certainly beyond my judgement. I am gonna mock the army for having an esports team, however. I think it’s fair to say that this is a disingenuous recruiting effort in a time of great emotional turmoil (in the sense that it’s almost luring kids into the army with a relatable issue), if not a predatory effort to get kids to enlist when they don’t have anything else to do or are feeling the economic pressure to. Also it’s an esports team for an armed forces branch lol
Honestly not sure what you mean about that last part. You literally cited the military’s massive budget. They have competitions with firearm manufacturers to determine the best of the best weapons for personnel. Plus the US military already spends tens of billions of dollars on armor yearly; I’m sure that if highly trained military specialists believed a new MBT was top priority, they would be working on it. Yes this esports team makes very little sense, but the US army has so much funding that perhaps they don’t even know what to do with it anymore, and their marketing/recruitment sector just decided to say “fuck it” and went for something they thought young people might be interested in
