Middle school grades don’t matter. Advanced classes matter, so as long as you don’t fail the class or get anywhere close to that (you should get at least a C in any class if you’re competent) you’ll be fine. You can then take elevated classes for freshmen year, suffer more than everybody else in your grade, and succeed in getting into college.

It’s all fun and games until you reach freshman year of college and can no longer get away with doing that, so you fail most of your classes and get put on academic probation by the time the first semester ends.

Nah fam this is just what happens if you put everything off till the last minute. I recently finished my first semester of university with all A’s, the only difference b/w me and him is that I scheduled my time better.
@@OsirusIrdia Alternatively, some of us can be worse than him and still do well. I've gotten A's in all my uni courses (I'm now in my last year of a bio major, chem minor) and I've never studied more than a day in advance or attended lectures.

I remember laughing at memes about how engineering don’t ever go through proofs and you have to research those yourself. This was before I got accepted into my uni so I thought they were funny exaggerations. Boy was I wrong.
There comes a day when we all give up on ever researching or looking into the proof and just become a brain dead drone ready to join the workforce as the worlds most predictable cog. To this day I still do not know what a Laplace transform is despite how many of my subjects are basically based on filters and signal stuff.
I got A’s and B+’s from classes I thought I’d fail. Those test curves in my engineering classes are FAT.
I had the same thing too. I got curved from an 84.98% to an A in Physics II (electricity and magnetism), despite getting a 33% on my first exam
I went from a low E to a C in 2 of my classes. I guess spending 7 straight hours on a single powerpoint presentation was worth it. And then proceeding to spend 6 on the next one before presenting it online as my classmates forgot we had the presentation until I text them 2 hours beforehand so I had to write scripts.
That or the curve was very generous

That part about studying a week before finals and procrastinating til the weekend before is so relatable. You just realize that you dug your own grave because its almost impossible to cram everything for the finals in 2 days but then pull it off somehow.

This speaks to me on an emotional level. I'm struggling through grad school while catching up on math I never knew existed.
I pulled two all nighter just to fail two of my final exams. Yaaaaaaa!
I'm a chem TA and grad student, and this video was funny and struck a chord with me. Amongst grad students who aren't brainwashed ("wow, grad school is such an amazing opportunity and I'm so lucky to be doing it!") we usually wonder why undergrads and potential undergrads don't just wait until the pandemic is over before starting school. Especially in STEM classes, you just won't get the experience you paid for and it was already barely not a ripoff. You can't do labs, you won't have face-to-face interactions that are usually pretty important to the learning process (we're social monkeys - we learn from each other, not books), and your school will have botched together shitty online classes that they just weren't prepped to give.
College is the only place where you pay enough money for a sports car for the CHANCE to WORK HARD for a degree, with the possibility that you'll need to pay even more money if you didn't waste enough of your youth. All this is for a job that you honestly may not even like, you just don't want to be poor. And even that's not guaranteed, depending on the degree they give you (why are those degrees even offered?!). Then they have the gall to ask you for donations afterwards. It's fucked up, and honestly the fact people need to pay as much as they do is seriously BS.
Vote democrat kids. Tell your congressional representatives they're fired if they don't get on this shit, because a lot of these colleges are TECHNICALLY non-profit government institutions, although most of their money gets funneled into upper administration and building more buildings for clout. Whether or not the university pays their professor faculty well depends. They almost never pay their grad students enough. In UC schools their grad students are frequently homeless.

It’s my senior year of highschool and every year before this I’ve been the star student, 4.0 (unweighted). This semester my life fell apart and I got the news just a few days ago I failed two classes that I needed to get the credit for
It wasn’t even my finals that were the problem- I actually got 100s in both those classes. I just had so many missing assignments that it didn’t matter lol
So I’m dropping out! This is not a joke! I’ve been the ideal student for years and now I am dropping out! Talking with a friend about moving to Ireland. My life is in shambles :D
Bro, are you sure you took do that? Can't you make up those two classes online or something? I really would encourage getting your diploma.
look man I don't want to call your story fake, but I'm suspect that you got 100s in your final courses while not doing the work for either of these classes the entire semester. If it true, then this decision to drop out is incredibly stupid and it sounds like the root of your problems is personal, not academic. Finish school and work out your personal stuff, because those problems won't disappear if you move to Ireland. I don't know you, but don't drop out.

The main reason I’m dropping though is because I am going into an intensive inpatient hospitalization program for an ED in like, 3 weeks? And it’s going to be insanely hard to do work there. So dropping out is actually better for me.
@@carterdc3576 hah yeah I could totally see how my story sounds ludicrous but let me explain a little better lol. The classes were incredibly easy, one of them being a normally freshman history course while I have taken the highest level history at my school already (it was a credit thing that happened when I switched schools which is why I didn’t take it freshman year, long story lol). And yes! You’re totally right that my issues are from a personal source. The main reason I’m okay with dropping out and getting a GED is because I’m going into a long term inpatient hospitalization program for an ED in a few weeks and I won’t really have time for school while I’m there for a few months. I can’t fix my personal problems with school in the way, so it’s best for me to fix my health now instead of stick around and do all the credit recovery and next semester. The Ireland plan is for next year, don’t worry I’m not really an impulsive person despite how it all sounds from this story hahaha. I’m still getting a GED, but when I physically can’t stand for more than 10 seconds because I’m so unhealthy, school really isn’t my priority lol hope this cleared it up a little bit!
When you get to college, you have two options.
You can either extract as much value from your tuition as possible by being miserable, or you can waste as much of your tuition as possible on actually learning shit.
Unfortunately, it appears your university has forced you into choosing the first option. But hey, congratulations on making the finals, and Merry Christmas!

The fact that youtube recommended me this video after me failing both my lin alg and matlab/eng analysis finals, and studying for my chem final (it's tomorrow, and i've never paid attention in that class), is quite ironic.
I just finished finals too with a 4.0. Have a break before spring, but yeah I feel relieved right now. Went from homeless to here, always loved the content, keep it up.

I did the same thing for my Math Final this year. Studied my ass off all semester, shooting to keep that 4.0, woke up 2hrs late for the exam. Luckily it was over zoom, so the prof took an extreme amount of mercy on me.

Wow I’m about to finish my first semester of physics and you pretty much explained my position perfectly. Swedish College is more advanced initially I think, because we learnt about Lagrange like week three and introduced vectors immediately. But still I’m in the exact boat you were in right now. It’s not good, btw I failed all my exams so far too.

I have my first finals mid-January because that's just. How my school does things. And I adamantly refuse to study, since I only ever have done well when I don't stress for tests.
