You incorrectly stated that pasteles masa is made from plantains. The main ingredient in pasteles masa is green bananas, which are NOT the same as a plantain. This is a common error, to confuse plantains with green bananas, but trust me... a pastel made of plantains would not be good. It would be very dark-colored, very dense and hard-textured. You can add a couple of plantains to masa, but that's about it. Also, some pasteles are primarily made with yuca as the base ingredient in the masa.
Where to eat: In addition to asking the locals, look where the cops and taxi drivers eat! They both know where all the good chow is since the jobs of both require them to eat out a lot and no one wants a bad meal when there's excellence to be had! This is advice for just about any country one should be traveling to! Thanks, Jocelyn for the treats!!!
When we returned from PR and told a restaurant owner in North Hollywood that his mofongo was better than any we had in PR to say we made his day would be an understatement; he was over the moon; also lechon, lechon lechon is so good!
@@amgooder We went to the best places in OldTown and had the dish often sometimes the best…can be in your own backyard. Anthony B one time said the food was better at a particular restaurant in LA than he had in China!
Outstanding Jocelyn!! I love PR food. I was just on PR a few months ago :).The pork was certainly amazing even without the crisp of some schweinhaxe. Plantanes are the BEST!!! Plantanes is the "spaghetti eis" of PR for me lol. I must try the pe k sauce:). Seafood is me all the way. The treadmill is my friend lol lol.
Puerto Rican food is good. But, I like Chinese food better. I like Chinese food better than African food. I like Chinese food better than Indian food. I like Chinese food better than Korean food. I like Chinese food better than Mexican food. I think Chinese foods (e.g. fried rice, chow mein, Chinese hamburger, scallion pancakes, mapo tofu, char siu, fried sauce noodles, wonton soup, Chinese sticky rice, spring rolls), Japanese foods (e.g. sushi, sashimi, miso soup, Tonkotsu noodles, udon noodles), Vietnamese foods (e.g. Pho), and Italian foods (e.g. combo pizza, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread, ravioli, lasagna) are the most delicious foods.

Dammit Jocelyn! Now I really want to go to Puerto Rico and eat my way around the island! It wasn't on my must travel list but now it is! 😂
Ok, I vote for Jocelyn to be the new host. Good job.

You probably chose the wrong places in P.R.😂

Puerto Rican and Dominican food are very similar, and both islands make "tostones" and "mofongos".
Your man is looking good! Hope he continues in 2024. I’m on the same journey! Love the uploads. God Bless.
I like the delicious roasted pork lechon😊

Isn't Puerto Rico a territory of the United States?
Did she say it wasn't?
@@amgooderShe kept referring to Puerto Rico as a country. It’s a United States territory.
@@abkeener81 Well it is a country.
Its own flag, culture, language...
Its own olympic players🇵🇷 etc. etc.
Yes U.S. invaded P.R. against its will.
