This reminds me so much of the years I lived in Puerto Rico when my company sent me to work there. The food, the weather, the people are wonderful. I had the best New York style cheesecake I ever had in my life in PR. Once the big bosses visiting from the States tasted it, they begged my to get them more.
Funny you mention, but everytime I go to PR, I MUST get a cheesecake. They do the best cheesecakes. Puffy, airy, soft. Never in the USA i have tasted them like that.

The town is called Cayey, about an hour away from San Juan. The area is called Guavate, and the street is La Ruta del Lechón. You can put it in Google maps and it’ll take you right to. You can’t miss it! I’m a Boricua that lives in Texas, but I go back to PR at least 2-3 a year. The island never leaves you!!! 😊
If you go to piñones you'll get the best alcapurrias,piononos,bacalaitos,rellenos de papas,piña colada and pinchos at the small business name El Pino. Something that you'll love to indulge yourself in.

The adobo we have is not the same as your chicken or pork adobo Adobo is just a season. Like dried onions, dried garlic, annatto, your adobo is different. We do have very similar foods like for example caldereta. We have the same. But we dont make it spicy.
I love Luis' energy! He's hilarious and such a great guide. And the food looks incredible. The lechon, the plaintains, arroz con gandules, and all the baked goods look unreal. I've never been big on the iron-rich flavor of blood or organs like liver, but I'd be willing to give the morcilla a try, too!

What an amazing video! And your travel companion is full of knowledge and a great guide! I visited Puerto Rico with my ex and it was one of the best trips of my life so far. We drove all over the island from Carloina to Cabo Rojo. San Juan was the most "boring " part. Lol! I love the people, the food, the beaches, the greenery. I feel like Puerto Rican food is underrated, not being biased, but Mexican & Puerto Rican food is my absolute fav in the world.
