  • José Ramírez hit a tiebreaking homer in the sixth inning, and the Cleveland Guardians won their sixth straight game, 3-2 over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.
    Tanner Bibee (6-2) allowed one earned run in six innings for the Guardians, who were able to protect their slim lead without using highly worked closer Emmanuel Clase. Tim Herrin and Hunter Gaddis worked the seventh and eighth, and Scott Barlow struck out the side in the ninth for his second save of the year.
    “I've had calmer games,” manager Stephen Vogt said. “But we've talked about it all year, that's the beauty of this bullpen is every one of them can pitch in leverage. Mr. Barlow's had his fair share of saves as well, so he's in a very comfortable situation for him.”
    Since taking two of three in a big series at Yankee Stadium, Baltimore has dropped four in a row for the first time this year. Rookie Cade Povich (0-2) steadied himself after a 31-pitch first inning, but with the score tied at 2 in the sixth, Ramírez hit a 431-foot homer to center field.
    It was Ramírez's 236th home run, tying Manny Ramirez for third on the team's career list | www.espn.com/m...

      I think....all of Guardians Nation, is waiting for Gavin Williams to make his first start of the season and next Tuesday, July 2nd.....
      Williams is scheduled to start vs. CWS at the Jake.

    If the Guards were to go 40-46 to win 90 games, Minnesota would need to win 47-34 to tie and KC would need to go 47-32 to tie. They are getting close to locking up the division.

    Its the Toronto fans Bull...they always show up for the Jays in Cleveland...but I do hope this team is compelling enough to bring back the crowds we used to get at the Jake back in the mid-90s.

    Looks like the Royals have come back down to earth. As for the Twins, they have been playing better. But I don't believe they have the consistency to mount the kind run necessary to win the division. So it definitely looks like the Guardians are on their way.

    I'd be surprised if the front office does anything, because the ownership has been mostly cheap.

      unfortunately, you are probably correct. Remember this in a few months when we get smoked by the Yanks in the playoffs because ownership was too cheap to add a starter, but we will get to hear what a "great run organization." they are.

      @@johnbontea1353 ummm, no. After tonight's game its pretty obvious that you do not want Allen pitching in the playoffs. They need another top of the rotation starter and Williams to come back.

    Right now we have bibee williams and lively starting in the playoffs. Cookie is going to the bullpen. Tristan may have to go to the bullpen for playoffs

    My biggest concern with McKenzie right now is his lack of confidence. Regardless of whether he’s heading out for the first pitch, or coming out of the game, he always has the same expression, and is looking straight down at the ground. With that said, he magically expressed some big D energy while DJ-ing with Shaq the other day 😂. At least that gets him hyped. Maybe McKenzie can produce our post season hype video if pitching doesn’t work out lol

      @@rccollins1456 I get that but damn, show some emotion. Show that you actually care. Take a baseball bat to a water cooler or something ha. I wanna see some passion. There’s no denying that he’s hurt, and has talent, but come on. He’s like a 180 of DG on the Cavs. Instead of sulking, DG is just laughing all the time as he plays terribly. Not a good look. Maybe that’s me just nitpicking though. Just rubs me the wrong way.

    • @rccollins1456
      @rccollins1456 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SpicyG91 probably doesn't want to take a bat to the water cooler for fear of hurting his arm more, :) Just kidding. yep I hear what you are saying. Right now, no way he is in the playoff rotation. As for DG, hate to say that I called it, but a few years ago, he was healthy enough to play around in the all star game, yet, after the break with a few days off, he sat out a few games, that was all I needed to know about him, the organization, and the media... screwed up priorities.

    All this trade talk has me wondering why the Guardians front office was so quick to release/trade Will Benson ... until I saw he is hitting .192 with reds. Nolan Jones? after a scary good 20/20 yr with Colorado last year in barely over 100 GP he is, also, hitting only .198 this yr. Brennan playing better than those 2, at least. I don't think Brennan a deficiency. Schneemann seems like he's for real. I would not be surprised to see Manzardo, again, by the end of the season come playoff time. I realize that does not sound very promising, but the most important thing (I feel) is for the Guardians to find that one solid arm whether it's a starter or a proven reliever who can pitch 3 days in a row. The O has enough with Ramirez and Naylor and Kwan (tasting a batting title this yr) to carry the load with prerequisite assistance from Gimenez (65 RBis by the end of season, 30 steals), and Fry starting at catcher. By the way, it appears Fry may need rest from the rigors of catching. He has played 3B before. Someone within the Guardians brain trust must have com up with the idea of Fry at 3rd, putting Gimenez back to his natural SS and putting Ramirez back at 2nd base where he played for years in the minors et cetera, next to Lindor. Are Ramirez and Gimenez opposed to 'switching back' again? Is Brayan Rocchio THAT good defensively Guardians can afford him hitting .220? Schneemann at 3rd? If Guardians need to keep Fry at C.? Come playoff time you need to find a way to keep any Mendoza-line hitters (Bo Naylor? Rocchio?) out of the starting lineup.
