thanks to you, i tried HylaWipes and love them. yes, the cloth is large, but after wiping my eyes i always use it on my entire face. it's very calming and hydrating -- no irritation whatsoever. i've really noticed a difference in my eyes -- especially when outside: no more tearing because my eyes are too dry. i use them twice a day.
Dr Eye guy, tea tree oil is harmful to your meibomian glands, why do you recommend it? Doesn't it stay on your eyelids and eyes after wiping with a wipe containing it?
I recently went to a VA Eye Doctor as I was having issues with my eyes. I was told that I had dry eyes and that I was not getting the needed oils. She prescribed Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium Eye Drops to use 4 times a day. In addition she recommended I use baby shampoo to clean my eye lashes and and a heat mask. Trouble is she didn't tell me how to use either of the additional items, while the drops came with instruction. I tried the heat mask once, but worried that I was cooking my eye balls plus I did it laying down. For the baby shampoo I put it on a damp cotton makeup remover pad and simply wiped my eye lids while closed. I don't know if this method works, but I'm doing it daily. So, this is what brought me to your channel. I'm impressed with your knowledge and presentation skills!
I take a very thin wash cloth, pour some diluted baby shampoo on it and scrub the base of my eye lashes. Rinse thoroughly. Baby shampoo is cheap and when diluted, lasts a long time.
My partner was diagnosed with dermodex. Optometrist recommended wipes with a prescription for drops (expensive….tiny bottle was $200). I have purchased several wipes for him. Occusoft being the first. He now uses optase. We will look into the hylawipes.
My eye doctor told me that I had blephoritis and that was why I kept losing so many eyelashes. I recently started using HylaWipes by TearRestore and I love them! They are mild and pleasant to use with no bad smell. You don't have to rinse after using them. They are a generous size and can be used as a facial wipe after cleaning my eyelids. Best of all, my eyelashes are not falling out anymore!
I tried many. The one that actually worked, and worked very quickly is ocu-soft allergy, with tree tea oil. So I think that the tea tree oil is the key.
Today I purchased OcuSoft lid scrub original. I will try it later today but I see I have to rinse it off. My preference is one that I don't have to wash off. While I don't have a problem buying eyelid wipes, they sure are pricey!!!
I really like the Blephodex and HylaWipes because they can be used on the go. The Systane is good and more economical but because it needs rinsing, it’s not as convenient. One thing with the HylaWipes the cloth is really big, so it feels to me a bit wasteful. I’d like it if they had smaller cloths and more packages per box.
I tried the allergy version of OcuSoft as I periodically struggle with styes. I definitely have to rinse and of course, hot compresses are essential. I was wondering, Doctor, what you recommend for styes, to heal them quickly. Thank you for this helpful information.
Hi doctor, is it okay to wipe the eyes? Does is not affect the cornea and vision? I'm very anxious about my eyes. May I know if the occassional eye rubbing which is due to reflex affects vision?
It is ok to wipe your eyelids.... but if you mean to wipe your actually eyeball, your cornea... then no, you don't want to wipe that. Occasional eye rubbing is ok. Deep rubbing and a lot of pressure, and doing it frequently is when people might get worried about affecting the cornea.
Can the OcuSoft plus/platinum variant be used daily long term? I saw Ocusoft comment on an amazon Question asked, and it said “plus is for bacterial involvement and should be used short term to prevent resistance” - any take on that?

I would go on wiping the entire face 😊
Too expensive. I just use biotech with cotton rounds.
Wipes and the spray and prescriptions no bacteria problems tea tree wipes optase I guess using them might help but dose it help !?or has it just been a rip off & now that I've been spending $ on all of this stuff all the year2 straight years I didn't buy all this stuff & masks in my life now for years I still have nothing good going on 20 vision but now close up it's just unbelievably annoying and crazy you take care of your eyes take care of your teeth take care of everything and nothing helps
Near vision decline can be a natural normal issue starting in the 40's ages unfortunately.
too bad they refuse to sell to Canada. I guess we are not worth helping out
It doesn't work
Always remind people not to use the same wipe on both eyes.
Why can’t I just wash my eyelids when I wash my face?😊
You can, if you have soap that is made for that.
@@DrEyeGuy I guess I don't understand....why does it need to be special? I use a bar "soap" from like Dr Bonners - wouldn't that be good? :) Thanks for your awesome info!
For one thing it would be bad to get soap inside the actual eye, which could happen accidentally while wiping the lids. Also, soap is very drying which is the opposite of what you need.
Wipes eye
You should check out fortified shampoo for fast hair growth.
