  • Produced by Mercedes-Benz North America in 1986, 'The Automobile the First 100 Years' takes a Historical look at the evolution of the Automobile and the Automobile Culture.
    As some have pointed out in the comments, Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot actually created the first known "mechanical land vehicle" back in 1770. They don't mention him, but you do see a drawing of his 1770 fardier à vapeur in the opening sequence.

    We went from the horse and the isolation of life on the farm plowing fields from sunup to sunset to the personal freedom afforded us by cars, trains, planes, luxury liner ships with electricity from stem to stern while at the same time we electrified a nation. • @WildAboutWheels
      @WildAboutWheels  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. From what I found online they used an SFX technique called double-exposure.
      "The rescue scene - where the protagonists barely avoid being run over by the engine - which was achieved with a double-exposure. For a 1913 effect, it was frighteningly realistic, and it still looks quite good today, (even if the characters get a bit transparent towards the end.)" - www.tvtropes.org

He did get shafted by government for the building in Chicago, taken from Tucker breach of contract,---given to the company that made that "affordable housing" that you did mention. That was the end of the free market, (where anybody can compete), in the USA auto industry, and you kinda failed to mention that, (or the fact there was thousands of auto manufactures in the USA, 1900-1920). The rest of the story.

    Henry Ford had the right attitude with the Model-T, but he was mistaken in freezing the design when technology was advancing. Now we are supposed to give a damn because this year's tail lights are more funny looking than last year's tail lights.

    i have two friends in their 50's who never learned to drive. they are on to something. motor vehicles / driving is one of humans most moronic inventions. the sooner cars, trucks, etc... go away forever the better

    I love learning the history of almost everything, but it's shame when it comes to black history it's selected what's told. Ask about the history of automobiles you hear about Henry Ford and so on but what about C.R. Patterson a former slave that was making cars long before Herny Ford. But it's a new day and the hidden black history and inventions are beginning to surface changing credit that has been stolen. Shame shame!!

    The autobiography of the automobile.
    Any other name for autobiography is stupid...
    The word autobiography alone means car history.
